      @antmess9789 2 года назад +4

      @Just4fun 888 Actually, the US has those same laws too. And not just national parks. Any business that cannot operate with a service animal can either restrict access to certain areas or completely deny access altogether when necessary. Any zoo, refuge etc can block certain areas as you referred. For a hotel or apartment, if someone complains about allergies, they can force you to take certain pathways only with your service animal and restrict you from other walkways so that you don't affect the person with allergies. If a business is so small that dogs would block the walkways, they can deny access altogether as having the dog block a walkway is a safety violation in case of an emergency. There are many smaller exceptions like this.

    8:43 She says, you can walk but you use a wheelchair? She is being Ableist by asking that question. She apparently doesn't know that there are Ambulatory Wheelchair users.
    8:48 It is not enough for them to ask for papers for a Service Dog but they ask if you have documents for a wheelchair or ask you for proof that you need a wheelchair?
    25:31 It's called Invisible Disabilities. It would suck if someone had an Undiagnosed Disability but they suffered like someone with a diagnosed disability?
    30:09 I'm sorry that you had to go through this type of thing again? This is why I wish that before any business would ever be allowed to get their business licenses they would have to take a test provided only by the ADA and before they could employ anyone the new employee would have to take the same test and pass?

My daughter had a grown man at WDW a couple years ago come running out of nowhere, screaming and rushing her SD with his hand raised and was about to beat her Diabetic Alert SD Neapolitan Mastiff/Great Dane in the head. The only thing she could do was to scream back and try to stop him by yelling GET THE %}€}€}€~>|>\£**%?#>|£\£\**> AWAY FROM MY SERVICE DOG! His young son flowed his father trying to the same thing. The wife starts hitting the husband and pulls the two away and they walked away while the husband was screaming disparaging names in Spanish at my daughter. We don’t speak Spanish but we k ow a few of the derogatory things he called her. Unfortunately cast members could not find him to ban them from the parks. I tell my SD teams to be non confrontational and calm until you can’t be. When it comes to being interrupted, distracted to the point it’s now dangerous to the handlers health or team safety do what you need to do or say to get out of the situation. In this case she screamed back drew attention bro the issue and did her best to pull her 120lb dog out of the way of the beat down.

People should know there are fakes out there, but also that it's not their job to spot them. SDC as the two questions management approved it and put a sticker on my pass so I didn't have to answer the questions every time. The motel we stayed in this time is one we've stayed in several times. We was even in the same room before. Checked in in the evening. The next morning while out at breakfast I got a call from the motel telling me they needed to move me to a pet friendly room. I do not stay in pet friendly rooms because of the dangers of untrained dogs staying around me. I said no I didn't want to stay near other dogs. Also informed her it was illegal to move me or insist I stay in a petfriendly room. She got huffy and demanded I come to the office after already being told we was out finishing breakfast. So after breakfast we went back to the office. I tried to show her the ada pertains to them and she refused to read it. Said she had called and knew what the rules were. This was the manager. She proceeded to harass me saying they were protecting people with allergies. I said but you are discriminating against the disabled. Then the other person started in to with both of them saying why don't you care about people with allergies. I responded with why don't you care about the disabled and about mine and my dogs safety. We stayed in the same room but they weren't happy. Now remember we had already stayed one night in that room. We only had one more night to stay. Turned out they had got a new manager.

Blindness is a spectrum. The amount of times I've had people tell me "You don't look blind" Ughh! WTH does blind look like? Would you like to see the pictures of my dead retinas? It is ridiculous. Ableism is rampant in the US. And entitled people who bring Fefe and Fido everywhere and lie calling their pet a service dog are the worst. @@johnlammie275 social media-especially RUclips and TikTok have really opened up a way for the disabled community to reach more people with education about all types of disabilities (visible and invisible) and the struggles we go through just to access basic needs. I just found this account and have been watching all her videos. She is definitely a champion for service dog handlers. She knows her rights and isn't afraid to stand up for herself. It takes people like her willing to show the public the constant struggles the disabled community has to go through and stand her ground when she repeatedly faces harassment. It takes a lot of strength to stand up to all the hate she gets from ugly people who know nothing about the disabled and nothing about the ADA but think they know everything.

    Just discovery this channel after an old video was recommended. I have Neurological issues from a car accident several years back that also caused a brain injury. I also deal with metastatic cancer. I hope to get a service dog.
    A couple points.
    - Like you said, you can usually tell if someone has a legit, trained service dog. And if you know better, you can also tell if a dog has not been trained even if I person claims them to be a *service dog*. It shows.
    - I require a wheelchair/mobility scooter depending on what I'm doing, where I'm going, if there's too much distance and I'm feeling rough. I've had tons of different physical therapy so I usually don't need these as often now, but it is still very much needed. So I can understand how you walked in with just your dog and not in the wheelchair.
    - Another point, if I'm having a harder day, or trying to accomplish other things in my home, I don't go out. Most of the time I have to plan for things, take a Lyft or get a ride from my parents. So when I do go out, usually I am dressed a little different. I.e. Jeans/chinos etc. So looks can be deceiving. Just because I "look good" for 2 hours, doesn't mean I won't have a bad, naueous migraine that evening. Or that I look like that majority of the time. I do use a cane and sunglasses when I go out 100% of the time, but some people just don't understand.
    Nontheless, keep the video! $115 isn't worth deleting this. Hopefully people will see this and learn. Look forward to watching more vids on the channel. Take care

    I’m not disabled and I mean, I would park in the spot closest to the door that’s closest to my room. I do that for convenience anyway. But it literally is the principle of the thing. If there are no spots there, you should be able to park in the handicapped spots and go in the front, since what happens if you actually needed to use your wheelchair? I mean, most of the other doors aren’t going to necessarily have handicapped parking nearby. And she can literally by law go anywhere you can. For your own safety!! That hotel person was stupid.

    Wow!!! The ignorance is astounding! I wish businesses were as adamant about the actual Federal law as they were about wrong and illegal business policies.😡 My daughter, son-in-law and my daughters SD were hassled by the desk clerk at a 5 Star hotel because she said dogs were not allowed. I offered our ADA law card which she refused. AAAAA! Wrong answer. Please get your manager. Manager then brushed her off after she argued in whispers. I’m hoping it was because he knew we had the law to back us up and not because he realized we were platinum members. He also tried to refuse our law card and I nicely insisted he take it and go on the gov website and educate his employees so this doesn’t happen to future SD teams trying to stay at that hotel. We had booked months in advance with full disclosure that we would be raveling with an SD. This was a Comic Con and there were no other hotels to book with if they had refused us. The whole weekend the rest of the stay were very accommodating and even excited to see us. Maybe a little too excited as to maybe try to keep us happy and not reporting them to corporate. I don’t know. It may have just been that the receptionist was afraid of him. 120 lbs of grey brindle Mastiff/Great Dane I understand can be a shock when he walks in but she could clearly see he was a well trained SD. If he had immediately lifted he leg on the potted topiary upon entering, absolutely refuse us. But 1000s of hours of training in obedience and tasks. I’d put this dog up against the behavior of many children in Walmart🤣🤣

    that’s illegal- under the ADA, People don’t have to be to be in a wheelchair, it’s not a full requirement in order to have a service dog. you can only be in a wheelchair if you have spinal cord injury/any type of balance disability, And it’s also illegal to ask for medical records, “you are walking/standing and you use a wheelchair?!” that is so rude it’s not a full requirement in order to get/have a SD. in order to have one is to go on a service dog website that is not a scam or take at least two years to fully train your dog then take the public access test, it’s literally not that hard if you think it’s hard screw you.

    As someone who works at a hotel, I know you can only ask the task and if it’s for a disabilities right? Correct me if I’m wrong. Also my main question is, can you call out an obviously fake service dog?

    • @ServiceDogPaws
      @ServiceDogPaws  2 года назад +3

      You can ask specifically,
      1. Is it a service dog required for a disability?
      2. What task is it trained to perform.
      The task question can be anything from cardiac alert, syncope response, anxiety response, blood sugar, mobility assistance, psychiatric response etc.
      Emotional support isn’t a task. And emotional support animals don’t have access rights.
      Yes. You can absolutely call out an obviously untrained dog. And legally, you can remove (even a legitimate service dog) that is not behaving properly, jumping on people, not listening, being a distraction/nuisance, untrained, barking, pulling at the end of the leash and going up to other people, potty accident (although some legitimate service dogs do get sick and have accidents from time to time. We’ve had it happened. So if you know it’s a service dog maybe don’t kick them out for it 😅 allow them to clean it up. Sometimes dogs get sick and they can’t communicate. I’ve had mine poop in Walmart due to an upset stomach. It happens. But i cleaned it up, sanitized etc. and took my things to checkout and left).
      But you have every legal right under the law to remove any misbehaving dog not under control. If a legitimate service dog isn’t under control, the handler will take immediate action to regain control, but if they cannot, you can remove them.
