  • Gemma Arterton star of TV show, 'Funny Woman' and the movies, James Bond's 'Quantum of Solace', 'St Trinian's', 'Hansel and Gretel' and Netflix's 'Murder Mystery' opens up about a male journalist recently staring at her chest during an interview, calls out the prevalence of s3xism in the entertainment industry and how she was told to stop talking about feminism by a manager. All this and more on the latest episode of my podcast, 'Reign with Josh Smith' podcast, and you can listen to the full episode here: hyperurl.co/i4yxt0
Gemma joins us to talk about her new Sky TV show 'Funny Woman' which follows the story of 1960’S Blackpool Beauty Queen Barbara, who turns her back on life up north to pursue TV stardom in London. Whilst reflecting on the show Gemma reveals how stepping back into the world of the 1960's made her look on how far we have come but how much further we need to go with gender equality in our society.
Not only does Gemma reflect on her campaigning work for #MeToo, the equal pay act and Time's Up movement she also reveals how a Hollywood manager told her to stop talking about feminism and how a male journalist staring at her chest in a recent interview reminded her how prevalent everyday s3xism still is in the entertainment industry and sexism as a whole.
Elsewhere in the full podcast episode, Gemma and I debate WhatsApp voice note etiquette (which is a MINEFIELD, RIGHT!!!?!) and how going to clown school made her realise how desperate to please she is.
Gemma really is a bit of us and if you love her as much as I do after watching or listening to this episode, please get in touch (follow me across social media @joshsmithhosts) and let me know what you think -I love hearing from you. Love, Josh xxx

I love Gemma!! She's incredible in period films. Shes my favorite bond girl without the sex scene. I know she regrets it. It wasnt necessary. This woman has all the class, brains and beauty.

As a lesbian I honestly sympathize and empathize with what she share there about the boobs situation it’s not okay I don’t care what gender it is, I think those behaviors need to stop. I myself don’t behave like that honestly because it’s just weird and absurd and I’ve always thought and still think is dehumanizing Hopefully that doesn’t sound too extra but I don’t know I never supported neither liked humans behave in weird inappropriate behaviors like that lol. Love the interview she is such a beautiful soul and so talented.
