Hey Chris! You know me as Mr. Barry. What you said about taking two years off and never getting it back. 100% I have arthritis (for lack of a better term) it hurt to play guitar so I stopped playing at least daily. Then my son became a professional musician, and he was coming to visit so I bought a new electric guitar and started playing every day again. The good news, I have less pain when I play, the bad news, lost my chops, lost theory, transposing on the fly, gone. I’m clawing back still 8 years on, but I’ll never be what i was. As far as the muse - again 100%. I think of it as fire and you don’t want it to go out, but it will - I just am happy knowing it will come back to me. As one gets older one hopes they can take the time to take advantage of the moment.

@@MLCDelux Fade Away Diamond Time album is phenomenal.
holy shit.. wasn't expecting Chris Robinson to start talking about the Circle Jerks and Alan Vega/Suicide... Dude is more interesting than i gave him credit for.
Yeah for sure, I didn't take him for somebody into 80s alternative and hardcore and stuff.
always loved Black Crowes but finding out Chris is so deep into punk and old hardcore. Fuckin mind blower.
Great interview, Shake your Money Maker is one of the best records of all time
Miss the CRB every day = Magic
Same here. Neal had a direct connection to the cosmos and Chris preached from the mountaintop.
I saw CRB on a beach in Mexico with 150 people bc all flights got grounded. Some of the best times seeing music was with them. Was a total different vibe. Such a shame the nonsense that went down with Forbes, Chris's wife, Adam and ultimately Neal.
CRB is Magic.
@@isthemanAgreed. Last night I went to a show Adam was playing and Forbes was there! They both look great!
@@gnrledzep4eva who'd you see? Circles?
@@istheman no, Adam is starting a new band with Isaiah from Earthless. They played as a duo last night and opened for Howlin' Rain in SF.
Cool synchronicity, was listening to black crowes last night.

Interesting, Two totally different guys, With soo much in common ? Inquisitive Historians with a love of life!!! Great interview!!! 🤙🏽👏🏼
One of the best rock n roll front man’s from one of the best rock n roll bands of all time. Love the Black Crowes
Chris I was there 10-31 2006 at the Riviera in Chicago with my dad. I grew up on your record as u grew up on your parents records. Pure heart absolutely amazing 😊
Nice. I saw them twice that year too. The ‘05/‘06 tours were probably their best tours. They had Marc Ford back on guitar and played the best cover tunes that other bands never play. Of course I got kicked out near the end at one of the concerts, hehe.
Definitely one of the coolest podcasts I’ve seen in a while! Very cool guys!! Thank you for sharing!!
I agree! all the people with negative comments are so shallow. Chris is a legend!
@@mtthomas09 same! There is way too much negativity in this world right now and all I saw in this conversation was just two dudes talking about similar interests.
C Robinson, voice of the cool older brother w/the dope record collection
Those dudes are cool
HOLY SHIT! This dude can’t help but interrupt every single time Joe is about to speak! Jesus Christ i would’ve lost it multiple times, props to you for keeping your composure Joe 💯
Awesome interview. Good to see a real Rock Band these days.
Joe was fuming when Chris said 'L.A is so happening now'
I like he kept quiet when the Dead were mentioned, he usually goes out of his way to talk about how he doesn't get it.
Goes against the JRE narrative. Can’t be true. Right?
As a musician who grew up in a home with hundreds of records (mom was a singer/country musician - grandparents were a traveling gospel band - dad was bass player in a rock band)… this episode was so enjoyable to me. I relate to everything Chris is saying - and I’m aware it might be lost on so many 😂🤷🏼♀️ Oh well. For those of us who live in the world of the arts, it was great.
The amount of people in the comments saying, "Who is this guy? He's irrelevant." is staggering. But my faith in humanity was already pretty low.
100%.... I love the Black Crowes... honestly surprised to see Chris on Joe's podcast.... very pleasantly surprised
Happiness Bastards? Musicians have officially run out of album names.
This is a great podcast he's an interesting guest who gets to talk and tell his interesting insight into a big long running band, shame no one talks about anything to do with the podcast

Always loved the Black Crowes and Chris vocals are great. Met him in Atlanta. Genuinely nice guy.
Huge night flight fan! When he mentioned new wave theatre, that was such a flashback. I had forgotten the name.
Wow, Mr. Robinson seems so authentic and humble! Was great listening to him and the time just flew by. Somehow I got the sense as if anyone could talk to him for hours. One of the best JRE podcasts and I am watching it since the first ones.
That 1992 SNL appearance is a core memory for me. My dad wouldn’t let me stay up to watch but I did anyway and I still have the VHS I recorded….Sometimes Salvation makes me cry to this day and I’m rolling up on 50. Non-Fiction is another banger…I was glad they didn’t play Remedy
The black crowes... My favorite band since album 1. ❤ I've seen yall in concert 10+ times and hope to catch y'all in Wenatchee in November. Great interview Joe & Chris.❤
"You know what I mean"? Yes Chris we do...!😂✌️
I almost had to turn this off because he said that every 30 seconds.
Are you a Gorman widow? @@Dwallz
@@Dwallz They rock for 90 minutes straight...no BS Rock-n-Roll. No overdub BS, no vocal BS and their bands have always been tight. I saw them quite a few times and they never disappoint. Haters be hatin'.
They do rock and are super tight. It is raw, ti's the reason I want more...2 hr sets for the price they charge is not a ridiculous request. I have about 50 BC shows under my belt and always have supported them along with CRB who played 3 hour shows.

At the height of grunge the crowes put out southern harmony musical companion….love this guy and love that band…one of the great America bands
Chris is a highly intelligent person. Great hearing his story and educated perspective on his life
Chris Robinson friggin' ROCKS!! Thanks Joe for a real, human, non political show when we all needed a little break. You guys covered some excellent ground.
Damn, Chris Robinson must have a killer record collection. DK, Suicide, Circle Jerks, Dead Boys all mentioned in this conversation. Roggiez has probably never listened to those bands. Damn, this guy has a great attitude and I never cared about The Black Crowes. What a refreshing conversation.

Chris is such a great interview. He just has an ability to share his experiences and thoughts so naturally and it just comes across as very authentic. It's a nice change of pace from people that are guarded or focusing their energy on coming across a certain way...
