Chris Robinson is the lead singer and co-founder of the rock band The Black Crowes. The bands critically acclaimed and first new album in 15 years "Happiness Bastards” is out now.
The Black crowes opened for Robert plant on his solo tour for ship of fools album. Maybe 89 or 90. Went to the show in New Orleans. Great show. My dumbass brother tried to sneak back stage to meet the crowes, he was a major head and the crowes were all about the weed. He got caught and was tossed out back of the venue, super dome I think, and is where the tour busses for the bands are parked. We hook back up a few hours after the show and he has tee shirts, guitar picks, drum sticks.....all this swag. We were like wtf, he was approached by one of the crowes and he asked if they got high.....he spent an hour on their tour bus baking. He missed the entire plant show, which was amazing but....
Southern harmony and musical companion is still in my top five favorite albums of all time! Albums or full compositions of multiple songs albums. I mean from the first song to the last song. Columbo still holds up. Another common theme for that show is that the murderer will always give an alternative theory to Columbo early on in the investigation, just around the first time the murderer meets Columbo. And that's the point, I believe, Columbo knows they did it and merely reverse engineers the evidence from that point until it brings him to that person. It was a brilliant show with brilliant writers, directors, and photographers, and the acting was also brilliant, as they would bring on stars that were past their prime to give them one last shot at their craft. Both Captain Kirk and Spock were murderers in that series; Dick Van Dyke, which was awesome, since Dick always played good guys, also got to play a murderer on that show. But my favorite murderer was always the characters played by Patrick McGoohan. Patrick's characters always had a tinge of smugness to them that made you despise them. A close second would be the characters that Robert Culp played, and maybe Jack Cassiday, as they also had that sort of smug attitude, like they were better than Columbo and could fool him around every corner. And I believe they were on three different episodes each. Good stuff! *OLD MAN ALERT:* They don't make 'em like that anymore. 😝
Damn, Chris Robinson must have a killer record collection. DK, Suicide, Circle Jerks, Dead Boys all mentioned in this conversation. Roggiez has probably never listened to those bands. Damn, this guy has a great attitude and I never cared about The Black Crowes. What a refreshing conversation.

Huge night flight fan! When he mentioned new wave theatre, that was such a flashback. I had forgotten the name.
Alex Jones and Tim Dillon special would be divine right now
Minus rogan fact checking everything and talking about topics neither one have knowledge about or care about
@@Davidjon1946they literally did a podcast recently, "an emergency podcast"

@@LivingBGLegend im aware it was rogan who im mentioned Every time he has alex jones he fact checks everything and then will process to talk about mma and hunting animals

Miss the CRB every day = Magic
Same here. Neal had a direct connection to the cosmos and Chris preached from the mountaintop.
I saw CRB on a beach in Mexico with 150 people bc all flights got grounded. Some of the best times seeing music was with them. Was a total different vibe. Such a shame the nonsense that went down with Forbes, Chris's wife, Adam and ultimately Neal.
CRB is Magic.
@@isthemanAgreed. Last night I went to a show Adam was playing and Forbes was there! They both look great!
@@gnrledzep4eva who'd you see? Circles?
@@istheman no, Adam is starting a new band with Isaiah from Earthless. They played as a duo last night and opened for Howlin' Rain in SF.
I saw the Black Crowes and Govt Mule in Philadelphia at the tower theater in th 90s. One of my favorite concerts!

@@alanjaw546 saw Mule a few years back and CRB opened for em at the Tower it was Mules 2001rst show. They brought Chris and Neal up and crushed Sometimes Salvation and opened the show with 2001 theme. Like Phish's version.

Smooth brains want to hear Joe talk about the same thing they can hear from 50000000 other sources, 24 hours a day at this point. I find it a great relief to listen to something not so charged and political. Plus this guy was a lot of fun to listen to. We get it, you guys love trump, but life doesn't revolve around him.
Thank you! took the words out of my mouth. And everyone needs to have some respect for one the greatest Rock and Roll front men EVER!
THIS! This was an AMAZING episode. Im a huge Black Crowes fan. Chris is such an interesting Dude and what a story teller. Loved this. First Rogans podcast I’ve watched from start to finish in a while. Wiser Time may be one of the greatest songs in my favorites. No one I know of Black or White, sings with more soul and feeling than Chris Robinson.
Where is the guy with the timestamp for the Trump talk?
Yesterday at about 2 hrs 10 mins in, the clip is on his channel.
He already talked about it

I love the Black Crowes. I love Chris Robinson. When God was passing out soul Chris must have stood in line twice. Gen X at its finest. Say what you mean. Risk brings reward. Thanks Joe RFK jr 24 So the right thing. ✊🏽✌🏼🤘🏿🖖
Been a fan since the very beginning (89-90) & CR’s BS 💩hasn’t changed a bit. There’s no telling how many times he’s uttered the phrase, “you know what I mean?” in his life! 🤦♂️

Love Black Crowes!!!! Thank you!!! 🖤🖤🖤🖤
It’s such a shame that bands and music fans don’t even care about the full album anymore. Shake Your Money Maker, Southern Harmony, and Amorica are all back to back home run records.
Definitely one of the coolest podcasts I’ve seen in a while! Very cool guys!! Thank you for sharing!!
I agree! all the people with negative comments are so shallow. Chris is a legend!
@@mtthomas09 same! There is way too much negativity in this world right now and all I saw in this conversation was just two dudes talking about similar interests.
Joe must be on vacation or hunting an elk. We are probably watching pre-recorded episodes.
totally
Was wondering why most people haven't caught on to that. He hasn't done them live in a long time
Its not elk hunting season. You cant just hunt elk anytime you want.
This is definitely the case, joe’s wearing a hoodie and the guest is in a suit jacket, while the suit jacket could just be fashion, its 94 degrees in austin so i doubt the attire lines up
He talked about the assassination attempt briefly on the last episode
Who smoked the most weed Chris or joe 😵💫
Not even close
I gather both these guys outlooks toward politics and maybe other hot topics may be opposite yet they are laughing it up and just chillin..
One of the most underrated rock singers.
The black crowes... My favorite band since album 1. ❤ I've seen yall in concert 10+ times and hope to catch y'all in Wenatchee in November. Great interview Joe & Chris.❤
Thank you for this …I miss the High as the Moon times but huge BC fan loving this …
Joe Needs a Discussuon on Current Events Asap. With someone knowledgable on the situation
Spots are filled weeks in advance
@@0rangecray0nhe sure made time for that redneck one hit wonder guy.
All of you complaining about the guests not being Trump or whoever, these interviews are scheduled way in advance. Along with not doing phone/zoom interviews, the guest has to go to Austin. Trump is just a tad busy at the moment to fly to Austin to go talk to some UFC commentator/comedian podcaster.
I’m sure THE BIGGEST PODCASTER ON EARTH can move his schedule around on the heels of a fucking presidential assassination attempt. Jesus, is this Jamie’s burner account?
I think we get that, it's just weird that he's barely spoken about anything that's happened over the last week. Then again, I think most people don't really know the last two guests he's had on.
Rogan could cancel any guest, anytime, to have whatever guest he wanted.
@@LoganWood121 Exactly. Joe cancels on guests ALL THE TIME to cater to other people for whatever's going on. I've seen dozens of celebs bash Joe for cancelling on him last minute after they already flew into LA or Austin.
Who's this guy? Joe is becoming so irrelevant. Even Logan Paul got Trump on his podcast.
These are not the guests we're looking for.. come on Joe we're dying to get the good stuff from either Alex Jones, Tim Dillion etc.
