Yeah. It kinda sucks that it only plays when Sora is by himself at the start of the game when he’s in a battle. In my opinion, this song reflects on Sora being in danger when he’s alone. When Goofy and Donald join Sora, Traverse Town’s battle theme turns into Hand in Hand, which sounds more upbeat and happy, reflecting on him being with his friends.
This scene is almost arbitrary perfect. Right away we are established our hero’s main power and weapon, our villain, our conflict and the beginning of the journey, all done within a matter of FIVE MINUTES. No extra filler content, no explanation, all the plot points and pieces are set and ready to go.
God this theme (mixed with me running in absolute terror from the heartless on Destiny Islands with just a wooden sword) is a memory I will never forget.

The best way i can describe this piece is...life changing, for whoever first played this game as kids, and slowly falling in love with it. The whacky adventures with disney characters, seeing sora grow up and playing it could instantly make you feel better, whether it was from another dsy at school, or work, maybe you started making your own keyblade or watched cosplay videos and amvs on youtube because you were that obsessed. I am thankful i got to play these videogames

I just bought the game from the epic because it looked kinda cool... when I played it, the memories kept flooding and when I told my mom about the game she just left and came back with the ps2 I used to play on and when she opened it it was the original kh, I don’t know why I didn’t remember such perfect game till now.
As Kingdom Hearts was one of my first games growing up, this song and the apocalyptic night setting for the island are permanently engraved in my head as being the first time I felt, like, real _dread_ playing a game. It's not that this part of the game is overtly horrifying or scary, but it really captured the feeling of "oh god, the world's ending."

I don't. Hand in Hand is one of my favorite tracks in the game for the very reason that it succeeds Night of Fate as Traverse Town's battle theme. Night of Fate playing indicates that Sora is overwhelmed with panic and fear, and that every time he sees the Heartless, he remembers seeing his island being consumed by an all-encompassing void. But once you've been to a few worlds and finally return to Traverse Town, Sora has grown much stronger, and fears the Heartless less now that he has his new friends by his side. Hence, Hand in Hand is the new battle theme. It's a beautiful way of conveying character development.

I never minded it though, but the Night of Fate track is one of my all time favorites in the KH series. It shows up in KH3 too, after Sora is asked is he finally gonna call upon the darkness to save Roxas. So that track, instead of about being overwhelmed with fear, it could symbolize Sora feeling conflicted on how to bring back Roxas. Tho I could be wrong...
