Do yourself a favour and go down the Tim Minchin rabbit hole, everything he writes is brilliant! And yes you should definitely check out Groundhog Day :)
He is a comedic genius with clever, intellectual and intricate lyrics. Just a heads up, as an unabashed atheist, several of his songs are a little less than generous when it comes to religions and religious beliefs. There are usually subtle clues in the titles, such as '10 Foot Cock and a Few Hundred Virgins'. But, he also does some just hilarious numbers that avoid the topic. A few suggestions that you will enjoy 'Inflatable You' (love song to a blow-up sex doll), 'Darkside', and 'Rock and Roll Nerd'.
If you decide to react to more Tim Minchin I thoroughly recommend "White wine in the sun", it's really beautiful and probably my favorite Christmas song.
He’s got two full-length shows on Netflix currently, from the beginning of his career. Lately he’s done the TV miniseries Upright (available on Sundance Now), and he’s got a non-comedy album coming out November 20th! (Definitely check out the Groundhog Day musical, too)
And if you want to see the most funny/sweetest love song ever. "You grew on me" That song first time i heard it i started laughing like crazy and then i realized how sweet the song is.
i always forget tim minchin writes musicals so this surprised me haha. ive listened to him my whole life (parents with good taste) i saw him in concert in november and it was incredible
Grew up as a Ginger with green eyes in a predominantly Dutch settled community in Michigan and was surrounded by a sea of blonde hair and blue eyes. The term wasn't used but in many ways the struggle was real! At 66, I have to hunt to find the right Ginger color for my hair now!
The Ginger thing is fairly restricted to the British Empire (to use the outdated term), and redheaded people do still deal with some discrimination of attitude. It's ridiculous, to be sure. And yes, Tim is Australian, and has been celebrated by the Australian government.
I grew up in a predominantly Dutch settled community in Michigan as a Ginger with green eyes in a sea of blonde hair and blue eyes...the struggle was real!
You might enjoy the video on RUclips of him doing Judas Iscariot in JC Superstar! Yes, I grew up in a predominantly Dutch settled town in West Michigan, lots of blonde haired blue eyed folks. My hair was more Auburn (I love it now) and my brother's was brighter like Tim's. We were teased constantly and many a day in 5th and 6th grade I would cry at night over being teased. Redheads are in the minority and kids can be cruel. Ixll never forget how much I felt like I belonged until I spent time in Dublin, and especially Cork. I felt like I had "come home". As I got into my 20's I lost that hurt, so yes...if you're dealing with a child, be kind. The struggle is real. At 66 now my red comes from a box, I can get close to what I had in my youth, but I'll never recapture that depth...
Tim was actually born in the UK, to Australian parents then came to Australia so yeah he's more Australian than he is british. He was brought up in Western Australia, father is a surgeon.
He was born in the UK, but is Australian, since both his parents are aussies, and he was raised there for most of his childhood. I warmly recommend watching all three of his comedy shows if you can, he got big in the early naughties, when he won the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, after his success at the Melbourne Comedy Festival in 2005, So F**king Rock Live, Ready for This, and his Heritage Orchestra specials are all available to watch, through DVD's or on Netflix, though you might have to hop about in the various national ones, with a VPN Service, to find them all.
@@behindthecurvereacts Try this. This is the song where, if you've seen the movie, Phil loses all hope and right before he starts to turn it around. ruclips.net/video/9ED-YlT7J40/видео.html
He's Australian actually, and yeah, his entire show is songs. And yeah, dude can play, he trained at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, one of the top performing arts schools in the country.
I highly recommend reacting to "Darkside", my favourite Tim Minchin song! Or "Rock n Roll Nerd" or "The Fence". All of these songs are amazing when he does it with an orchestra or band. I know there are videos on RUclips of him with an orchestra.
Was "Ginger"honestly the first word you thought of ? I hope you got the actual reference, as it's super related to what's going on in the world right now. Most get caught out, having to realize how they might actually have been prejudice, putting the letters together 🙂 Also, make sure to check out "Storm", the animated short, by Tim Minchin.
He has basically retired from comedy now and is working on a new non comedic album and a new musical. But you should watch the show he did with the heritage orchestra, it’s on Netflix it’s incredible!!
Tim wrote not only the music but also the lyrics to Matilda. So the lovely wordplay in "When I Grow Up" and "My House" are Tim's. Might I suggest the uncut version of "If I Didn't Have You". ruclips.net/video/Zn6gV2sdl38/видео.html
I just discovered him recently (I think youtube recommended him because of all the Bo Burnham videos I have been watching. I guess he influenced Bo a bit.) He is pretty amazing! GREAT reaction, BTW.
He might have been born there, but he'd call himself a true blue Aussie....he's lived here most of his life and his comedy is influenced by being an Aussie.
Yeah, he’s Australian, but a welcome British resident. The point of the song is to suggest that it’s an anti-racist song and then switch to an anti “gingist” song (if that’s a thing). The point is that “ginger” has the same letters as “nigger” (sorry if that’s offended anyone, it wasn’t intended, I just didn’t think it would need to be explained). Surely you got this.
Tim is the best, would be awesome if you would do more of his songs, or maybe the whole stand up? And if you rather do few more songs maybe try "Thank you God" song with Heritage orchestra! (it's from his stand up with the whole orchestra, He is just genius comedian with so many accomplishments!) ruclips.net/video/IZeWPScnolo/видео.html
Tim Minchin sells out places like Madison Square gardens, I was lucky to see him at his week long sell out show at the royal Albert hall a while back. This man is a musical comedy genius... Try out "Inflatable you", or "Thank you God".... By the way, Tim is AUSTRALIAN, not British.
Just so you understand, Ginger Nuts are biscuits here. I was disappointed you didn't find the tampon reference funny. He's an Aussie and we're super proud of him. Thank you for doing a reaction on Tim, but there are many songs he performs also. Take care of yourself, Mate
@@carolynjanesutton4932 I don't know. Just our warped sense of humor I guess. When Virgin Airlines had a competition for a branding name, we came up with Virgin Blue and everyone said, yeah, their planes are red...makes sense.
As a member of the G community I think it all depends in what context your being called ginger and by who. Personally I thought this song was brilliant but when the audience thought he was referring to the n word they seemed slightly awkward and tense about it, as soon as he made clear he was talking about ginger people, for the rest of the song people had no problem laughing along which (as a redhead) made me feel people still have no problem making fun of ginger people. (Maybe I'm being over sensitive about it as I suffered years of bullying because of my hair colour)
Mocking gingers ( I am one) is a prejudice that no one calls out. I had the same feeling about the audience reaction. It was like "ok, it's just the redheads. It's fine to humiliate them". It's not ok to make anyone feel unworthy and inferior, that is kinda the point of the song.
You did not understand he was talking about the N-word IN America the bigger he use the ginger word to explain its not good is why you shouldn't do that listen to his words he has so much more to tell
I’m so happy you reacted to this, and that you now know the name Tim Minchin! He is so incredibly talented! I hope you can do more reactions to his work in the future. He was in the 2012 production of “Jesus Christ Superstar” as Judas, and he is incredible. Can’t wait to see what you react to next!
he's a comedian, yeah. he's Australian (as am i) and he's quite well known here. national treasure imo

Actually he's an Aussie. And he does mainly musical comedy. ;)
He stopped doing comedy for nearly a decade but he's been talking wanting to do it again recently.
BRITISH!!!????? How dare you, sir???! He's a deadset Aussie bloke, thank you very bloody much!!
Gotta listen to Tim’s “Thank You God.”
