i agree, i like them but i feel like adidas might have dropped the ball on this one ... charging 225 and its not a primeknit upper? the only changes i expected were obviously laces, lowered collar, and no wearable finish on the soleplate
I have to agree too! Laced with identical materials and the same or similar graphics would be awesome. I have experienced some slippage on 18 + street shoes and the turf version and so laces would really improve them.
You have persuaded me, sounds like the boot for me. I've been wanting a tighter fit so much that I almost went for vapors, but my wide feet would cost me there. Great review as always.
Hey Jaws 2, Adidas has been on a good record lately with releasing special edition preds. Do you think they might do a leather and low-cut version of these down the road? PS been watching your channel for almost 10 years now so on just wanna say a big thank you for your work and happy belated birthday
Buddy if adidas came out with these in leather with the demon skin rubber elements just take my money now. Btw Adidas did add the demon skin rubber to leather on the Adidas Predator archives so it is possible
I was wondering if there would be a problem with the rubber nubs ripping off. My predator instinct had the rubber start peeling but not too bad because it they were long strips but these are nubs so I'm concerned the nubs might rip off easier.
I don't see how some wouldn't come off, but given that there are so many, I don't think it would have a noticeable impact on grip/feel. No boot is indestructible, but I do like this way of incorporating a striking element in that it doesn't restrict the flex or shape of the upper in any way at all. If that means some fall off from getting stepped on, I can live with that. That's just a general statement though, it's way too early for anyone to make any accurate calls on durability.
I have narrow feet and having played with these for a month now I have decided to try a different boot. The size of the toe box is utterly ridiculous on my foot and makes the contact with the ball totally unnatural. Because I cant actually feel the ball with these on I am either shanking shots wide of the back post, or actually feeling the ball roll over the top of my foot and go high. Growing increasingly frustrated with the feel of the boot I decided to put my old adipures back on yesterday and felt my touch control and striking were back to normal instantly. Everyone has a different opinion of course but my advice to anyone buying these would be when you try them on and before you cut off the tag make sure to have a good look and feel of the toe box and whether it actually hugs your foot or not. Additionally I would not advice these boots for dribblers as the rubber spikes do genuinely work ... unfortunately this means at times the ball sticks to your feet just as you need to create some distance for a burst of speed.
People that are hating on the collar: sorry to break it you but lace-less shoes and ankle protection along with extremely light, durable materials are the future for sports footwear. Although not directly marketed to rugby players, a lot, if not all, use football boots. These collars help with ankle stability and increase safety and support (which is good for fútbol/soccer as well). Adidas will not forget about a sport that is starting to make its mark in the sports market, particularly after Olympic exposure (again) and the introduction of MLR in the United States.
finally someone points this out. it angers me a lot bcos some people like laces more and the fact that now the laced one is worse is just blatantly bad
It's a shame that the aesthetics are a lot more toned down on the 20.1 compared to the 20+. The 20+ looks pretty cool so toning this down is disappointing and makes this look a lot cheaper than it really is.
I think something like a Nike Premier 2 would be a good starting point. You can wear whatever you want though. There's no skill or experience requirements for any boots.
Hey Jigglypuff, Where are the '20.1 lows' that the pros are wearing and a lot of the leaks had pictures of before this release? Are they essentially the 20.1s in this video with a low-cut collar or? Love your stuff! Long time fan, first time commenter :)
For a pacey winger that is 5'7 maybe the under armour zipper boot. The sensation when you are running full speed down the wing with ball making contact on the zipper ahhhhhh what a sensation!! P.s because you are 5'7 go down half a size
is there any specific reason you stopped wearing the inserts? and also why do you think Adidas is pushing for their laceless cleats so much, i think they would make more money if they made the 20.1 the same as they did for the 20+
Not much you can do about that. It's going to stretch just from putting it on and is designed to do so. It has no significance to the lockdown though, so even if it doesn't wrap your ankle perfectly, it won't impact the fit or performance of the boots. It's basically just extra material around your ankle, that's it.
Hey Josh maybe you can help me, I want the 20.1 in the inflight pack but heard some comments that the toe box it's super wide and people tends to go half size down , I'm always size 10 in all my boots and fits me all perfect to the end off boot, what do you think?
Can you do a wet ball review for these boots in UK Sunday league it's all wet ground just thinking this boot could help my son with keeping control in really wet pitches
I've got the 20.1 ag , first wear I felt it is too tight around midfoot , is it OK to take the laces out ? becuase I loosened them to the point that has no effect anymore and felt taking them won't be a problem for my fit , i used to wair ace 17+ laceless and fits me perfectly ..
They're not laceless boots. Even if the laces aren't pulled super tight, they're still there to prevent the area across the top of the foot from stretching excessively, which would result in little to no lockdown and potentially discomfort/blisters. You don't have to tie them tight, but I definitely wouldn't remove them entirely.
There are takedown models, yes. As far as a leather version is concerned, it's definitely possible given what we've seen them do with the Predator Archive, but we'll see if they actually do it. I wouldn't get your hopes up.
Just got the mutator 20.1 lowcut today. They feel very tight on the instep upon first trying them on. I hope this will go away or they stretch. Did you notice the 20+ being less tight here?
By looking at pictures up close it looks like the lows are going to be the exact same as the 20.1s rather than the 20+. So my guess the only difference between these and the 20.1 lows would be the collar
I like Speed boots. But I have Wide feet and my usual position on the pitch is a Right Winger. I’m stuck between deciding whether I should get the Adidas Copa Mundial, or the Predator Mutator. Can someone help me?
If these are a success, do you think that brands will look towards the experience of striking the ball. Owned a couple Puma evopower 1.3 and think they felt great when striking a ball.
Do you think the upper on the 20.1 is stiff by any means? I watched other reviews and some said it was basically a takedown model because of how cheap they seemed.
They took the padding out that used to be in the previous generation Pred 19+ and 19.1, so it doesn't have a soft feel like you might expect from a knitted upper, but they're definitely not stiff. Like I said in the video, the material flexes and moves nicely with the foot, but feels more like a synthetic since it isn't padded. They did that because of the Demonskin elements being raised off the boot. If they left the padding, I think the touch would been too bulky feeling.
Ordering from your site since I live in Europe is 100USD shipping! Is there no other possible shipping solution or are just overseas very expensive shipping?
why did they cut down the demon skin and prime mesh ? if this is a top end as well why treat it like a takedown ? so if you want laces you get less grip texture , why ? why not give us both ?
I get that it's not as extreme as the 20+, and you can totally be upset about that, but this idea that the 20.1 feels like a takedown model just isn't true. The upper feels almost exactly the same and the amount of grip provided by the boots is more than enough, if not easier to get used to in comparison to the 20+. This is also not the first time that Adidas has done this.
I found that the toebox area is way too spacey for me. The gap between the demon skin and my human skin is too significant, there is almost a time lag when touching the ball. Curious if that is a QC problem of that I’ve tried on or the 20.1 simply not fit my feet. 😢 I do like the look and the concept of 20.1 (especially my childhood favourite is predator), it’s really sad that 20.1 feels like it’s not my boot at all
They gotta differentiate both models so they can justify the price hike between 20+ and 20.1, and make the laced boot less technologically advance since the .1 models generally perform way better than plus models
Request. When you put the boots on the scales, could you put a list on the side of the screen with other boots weights as a comparison please.
Great idea!
Ur a genius
I don't like the fact that adidas are sidelining the laced version. I feel the laced version should be the same as the laceless but with laces
Aside from the less "extreme" graphics, there's nothing about these from a quality standpoint that make it "worse" than the 20+.
Brian Lee I fully agree
i agree, i like them but i feel like adidas might have dropped the ball on this one ... charging 225 and its not a primeknit upper? the only changes i expected were obviously laces, lowered collar, and no wearable finish on the soleplate
I have to agree too! Laced with identical materials and the same or similar graphics would be awesome. I have experienced some slippage on 18 + street shoes and the turf version and so laces would really improve them.
right?! No shiny outsole, no crazy collar. Something that I've always thought kinda sucks
Im waiting for the 20.1 lowcut , I heard it’s releasing later this week
Link?
@@aruan944 Don't ya wish someone invented a search engine
Juan-Carlos Torres i looked only the normal .1 is on there at the moment
Leo Ortiz I was speaking to one of the lead developers and they said the next couple of weeks. Best pair of the 3 apparently!
Can we expect a Play test?
You have persuaded me, sounds like the boot for me. I've been wanting a tighter fit so much that I almost went for vapors, but my wide feet would cost me there. Great review as always.
Throws the boots that I have off the shelf 😭😭
Benjamin Counter when did he do that?

Hey Jaws 2,

PS been watching your channel for almost 10 years now so on just wanna say a big thank you for your work and happy belated birthday
I would hope so, but I also don't see it happening. Maybe as a limited release, but not as a regular option.
Buddy if adidas came out with these in leather with the demon skin rubber elements just take my money now. Btw Adidas did add the demon skin rubber to leather on the Adidas Predator archives so it is possible
Maybe it's too early for this, but I'd love to see Adidas releasing the leather version of the Predator 20.1!
The one dislike is someone that has laceless boots
I was wondering if there would be a problem with the rubber nubs ripping off. My predator instinct had the rubber start peeling but not too bad because it they were long strips but these are nubs so I'm concerned the nubs might rip off easier.

Just picked up one FG and one SG version of the 20.1! As always, gray video Josh!
It kinda looks like an X19.1 but high and with striking elements
My new word of the day 😎 thank god for this channel
I have narrow feet and having played with these for a month now I have decided to try a different boot. I have bought 2 pairs of 20.1AG.
The size are 1/3 size larger than normal.
SRFU! Great review, as always! Do you get discounts for us in the UK, and for SG boots, not just the FG? Keep the reviews coming 👊🏼🤙🏼
How pumped are you that Players Paradise is re-opening and the fact you can continue doing play tests?
Yes!! Thanks for posting this review!!! I gotta cop these!!!
In terms of lockdown, are these similar to a Mercurial Vapor? And also do you get some movement around the heel area like the laceless or none at all.
Through the mid-foot, the tightness is not the same, but similar-ish to a speed boot. Lockdown is excellent, no heel slippage for me.

Hey Jaime when is the low cut version coming out?
Josh sounds so excited in this video
why does this look more like a takedown comapre to past .1 models
That's what I thought too! I think they made the difference with the 20+ a bit to big
finally someone points this out. it angers me a lot bcos some people like laces more and the fact that now the laced one is worse is just blatantly bad
It is a takedown. Imo they want you to pay the extra money. This will be the future
Beijon this is why Nike is just better than adidas like 90% of the time
I honestly think the 20.1 is a better boot than the 20+ due to better lockdown. even though the 20+ does look WAY cooler
It's a shame that the aesthetics are a lot more toned down on the 20.1 compared to the 20+. The 20+ looks pretty cool so toning this down is disappointing and makes this look a lot cheaper than it really is.
Well said, the 20+ should be available with laces because it looks so much better and more premium than the 20.1
Thanks on the vid on the new Preds, but still waiting on the reviews on the recent Concave boots o.o Again...they look fairly interesting.
Yo Josh. How do the spikes on these compare to the spikes on the Superlock shin guards from Nike
Very similar actually. These are a softer rubber though.
what football boot can you prefer for a beginner youth football player?
I think something like a Nike Premier 2 would be a good starting point. You can wear whatever you want though. There's no skill or experience requirements for any boots.
thanks man.
Will u rewiew copa 20+ and copa 20.1 mutator? Like... seriously, the red leather on them looks sick!!
The thumbnail pic reminded me of the CR7 chapter 1 Savage Beauty.
Those are such beautiful boots
Hey Jigglypuff,

Clearly they're coming, but as of right now, they're not out yet.
Josh = hulk. Not gonna lie those boots look sick.
When will the low cut which I saw insigne wearing come out? I thought they looked amazing as a low cut boot
I would expect them to be unveiled anytime. Not really sure why that one has been delayed?
Soccer Reviews For You do you think bigger brands like nike and adidas will ever release wide fit variations with their boots like new balance did ?
Honestly Id like 2 buy the 20+ but the fitting would b a big problem.
I’m a center back and I’m debating on getting some $140 mizuno Morelia’s all black or these 20.1’s HELP PLEASE
Both are excellent, it just depends on what type of fit and feel that you're looking for.
Hi please make a review on the turf and indoor version of these boots
Josh aka Dr. Biceps back at it again
hey Josh, do you think it is "ok" to use it on AG with this stud pattern....Adidas Canada for some reason never has AG version.....
It's not the best for use on AG, but it works.
Just bought these. It cost an arm and a leg of adidas, I paid £180 for them, but they are very good
Which model would you recommend for a Pacey winger, that is 5’7 and does lots of skills
For a pacey winger that is 5'7 maybe the under armour zipper boot. The sensation when you are running full speed down the wing with ball making contact on the zipper ahhhhhh what a sensation!! P.s because you are 5'7 go down half a size
I think I have a predator model 20.1, but without spikes, is that bad?
Also, does this model have ankle support?

@@Soccerreviewsforyou so basically it's useless
hey Jacquouille, do you shave before playing to avoid any scratch between your legs hair and your socks ?
Should I buy Venom or Predator 20.1????
would it be possible to cut lace holes in the 20+ if you wanted all the things from that boot, but with laces
It just wouldn't work. The holes need to be reinforced so they don't tear through the upper. It's not as simple as just punching holes in the upper.
Should i buy a size up or a size down?
Hey Josh maybe you can help me, I want the 20.1 in the inflight pack but heard some comments that the toe box it's super wide and people tends to go half size down , I'm always size 10 in all my boots and fits me all perfect to the end off boot, what do you think?
Can you do a play test for both of them
Can you get laceless boots and punch holes to put laces in?
I would not recommend doing that with any laceless boots.
Hey Jeremy
I'm buying the Puma Future 4.1, but I'm not sure which one would be better for me, the low or the regular. Plz help

Hey josh, they just released the 20.1 mutator in LOW CUT VARIANT!
What are the biggest differences between 19.1 and 20.1 besids the demon skin?
Everything except the collar and heel liner.
Soccer Reviews For You Is it worth to pay 50€ more for 20.1 instead of the 19.1?
Just got the mutator 20.1 lowcut today. They feel very tight on the instep upon first trying them on. I hope this will go away or they stretch. Did you notice the 20+ being less tight here?
The 20+ is the same shape, there's just less tension and overall tightness due to the lack of a lacing system.
By looking at pictures up close it looks like the lows are going to be the exact same as the 20.1s rather than the 20+. So my guess the only difference between these and the 20.1 lows would be the collar
Josh please review all the takedows

@Ibrahim Hassab-Allah ok😂😂
If these are a success, do you think that brands will look towards the experience of striking the ball. Owned a couple Puma evopower 1.3 and think they felt great when striking a ball.
I really hope so. I think that has become such an overlooked aspect of football boots over the last 5 or so years.
Is it worth to pay 50€ more for 20.1 instead of the 19.1?
They're entirely different football boots in regards to feel. Nothing wrong with the 19.1, but I much prefer the 20.1.
Can you do the indoor review of them?
*Laces are just t o o powerful*
Have you tried the 20.1 AG? I'm intrigued as it looks like a one-piece soleplate more similar to the 20.2 than the 20.1
It is a one piece soleplate, i use them. But they are still awesome and it is a delight to play with them
After some doubts I am glad I purchased them after watching this review
The thing is when I bought mines they came with black spikes and I don’t see any black spikes on the market ?
Where you get them from
The low cut version?
Soccer Reviews For You Oh alright that makes sense. I really appreciate the response.

I'm not a store. There are links on my website to several different online retailers, most of which are US based.
If this was a speedboot I'd get them in a heartbeat.
are there takedowns? if so, how good are they?
Will other color-versions be released? Does they fit wider feet?
Sure, i have quite wide feet and they fit me perfectly
A bit late, but i heard some people talking about the material feeling much cheaper than the 20+. Is this true?
Not true at all. The two uppers feel almost identical.
why did they cut down the demon skin and prime mesh ? if this is a top end as well why treat it like a takedown ? so if you want laces you get less grip texture , why ? why not give us both ?
I get that it's not as extreme as the 20+, and you can totally be upset about that, but this idea that the 20.1 feels like a takedown model just isn't true. The upper feels almost exactly the same and the amount of grip provided by the boots is more than enough, if not easier to get used to in comparison to the 20+. This is also not the first time that Adidas has done this.
Can you do a review on the predator 20.1 low plz
Happy day after your birthday!!
Which boot is better? The 20.1 predators or the new Nike phantom vision 2?
I think it's hard to say that one is better. They're very different, especially when it comes to feel.
Can you tell me what you think of 19.1 x Ag boot
Are these good for wide feet? Can somebody help?
Won't the spikes on the surface break off over time?
Are you gunna do a preadator 19.1 vs 20.1?
Would you say these are more or less moderately substantial compared to the future 5.1?
Only real Boot Nerds know.
But are they as accurul as the Phantom Venom
I found that the toebox area is way too spacey for me. The gap between the demon skin and my human skin is too significant, there is almost a time lag when touching the ball. Curious if that is a QC problem of that I’ve tried on or the 20.1 simply not fit my feet. 😢
