The holepunch on the A51 looks way better than the teardrop on the A50
Its more futuristic, but under-screen selfie cameras look even more futuristic

There is an A50 128GB, 6GB. That should have been the one you bought to compare to your A51. It would be a much fair comparison regarding spèed and software related test...
I keep seeing this offered online, but I cannot seem to find a US model of the 128. Everything I am seeing online is international.

The weather was updated around 4pm on the 51 and around 7am on the 50.

When i hear about it have a macro camera , i'm really interested in it, since i alway want to buy a phone that i can use to take picture for scale model/miniture hobby instead of buy a delicated DSLR camera

I will
to improve A50's fingerprint recognition, first go to settings, Display, then select the switch near the bottom that increases the screen sensitivity, then go register your fingerprints, and finally go back and switch the sensitivity switch back. Then you get noticeable improvement, but if your hands are sweaty or wet, well, it's still like the old fingerprint sensors. I've found that the A50's is at least more accurate than my ol moto g4's fingerprint sensor. Maybe not as good as my moto g6's but when hands are dry it's just fine.
Just got the A50. I know I'm like a year late, but it's an awesome phone. Though you do need good lighting foreign photos, unless you want it to look like a literal painting.

Thank you for the quick comparison! I know the phone was basically announced a few weeks ago, and I appreciate you making this video so quickly. Most tech youtubers only care about the flagships instead of these mid-range phones, and I appreciate you making this video. It would be interesting to see a battery test between these 2 phones..primarily because both have the same battery capacity in their specifications, but the software is different. It would be a good comparison, and it may also highlight the changes samsung made with one ui 2.0 and android 10 with regard to the battery life. Liked and subscribed!!

Hey Kevin I bought the Samsung galaxy a50 and I upgraded from the normal Alcatel 1 (2018) huge upgrade if you ask me!
Also the chin looks huge through the video but in real life it's not as bad

My cousin and I just bought it mabe 2 days ago. I got to say, the finish and the look kinda gives you a flagship type phone (even though it is a glastic). The camera is really good. The battery with 4000 mha will last you through your day. Quick but, I don't know what will happen to it after some videos, photos, apps and document, and for how long. So, it makes sense if you don't want to spend an extra 100. Thanks for the feed back though👍
@@fikray4581 if you already own an a50 its not much of an upgrade...at least not enough to warrent spending an additional $300 when only a few improvements were made. It makes sense if you are switching from an older device but not last years model. It might be worth it next year when the A52 comes out because by then it will be a bigger differance.

Samsung never ceases to amaze me with these budget phones, this is how you corner the market
You can go into the settings on the A51 and change from Normal display to Vivid if you prefer more saturation.
I had been looking at getting an A50, but after watching your video I think I will spend the small amount extra and just grab the A51. Thank you so much for your thorough comparison.

If you are not too keen on having the best camera and the best performance, I think, the A51 might be the better choice over the S10(+).

Yeah, but it's an advantage itself though.
I'd prefer not to have either the hole punch or the tear drop notch but if I had to choose I would go for the tear drop notch because the black bar you get when hiding both (as I would do permanently) is thinner.

Do they have wifi and lte issues? I had the A50 and it has wifi AC but it didn't seem that way. Wifi was slow and it use to lose connection a lot.

I went from the j7 sky pro to the galaxy a50 and to me ,,tbh it's a great phone. I had the j7 for a couple of years with no problems till one day i dropped it; the screen cracked of course, but the phone worked regardless. After a month of having this one, the a50, I just love it.

It's basically the exact same specs but you get more camera features and a nicer display. The chipset is basically the same and the loading times were different because the a51 runs Android 10 out of the box and the a50 currently runs on Android 9. The a50 is planned to have continued monthly security upsates and Android 10 with Samsung UI 2.0, which is a planned update for April.

how stock is the a50? i have one, with about 40/64gb full and it takes a full second to recognize a fingeprint press, a full second to match the registered fingerprint and then a full second to wake the screen up. im disappointed

Well, I've using a well aged Samsung J7 for about 2.5 years. It's pretty eh phone and hasn't aged too well. and I've been thinking of an upgrade. The a50/a51 seems really promising and everyone is praising the A series phones. Would it be worth to wait for a few months more until the prices slightly drop to around 250 usd on the a51 or should I get a a50 rn?
Well, damn. I got the A50 several weeks ago thinking it would be great but Samsung already had a better version available. Oh well, at least when the A79 comes out, I'll be ready. 😈

For A50 you can reduce the screen saturation by changing screen mode into amoled photo in display settings

The fingerprint sensor though is pretty much useless.
Watch a video on how to make the sensor faster . Initially it was shit was not working 6/10 times . But when I changed some settings it worked pretty good . It is not working 1-2/10 times
Really like the A51. When a Sprint supported version comes out I'll be on the lookout for one.

A70 is good which is the same price of A51, go for A70 which has a better processor. 9611 for A51 was a disappointment.

And another thing to note is A51 got a better camera which you may not care about that much if you're like me.... 😉

My A50 screen LCD blacked out after I dropped it. Doing an insurance claim, the A50 is on back order. However it gives me the option to choose the A51?? Should I wait longer on back order for my A50 or go with the A51??

I just got the a50 yesterday and I noticed that if you tried to scan your fingerprint in biometrics in a dimly lit room it wouldn't work. I tried it in bright light and it works every time. As far as unlocking the phone I haven't had any problems with that.

Yo guys so I'm looking at the a70, 51 and 50 but the problem is that i want to have a good quality camera. None of that cheap stuff I don't want my snapchat videos to look like I filmed it from a potato. That being said is the a51 worth the extra price in regards to the camera quality? I know it has 4k but how much of a difference is it really
