Is it just me or I just love Samsung using plastic cover instead glass, because if we think about it the plastic could reduce the weight of the phones, and you don't need to worry about cracking it up after drop it accidentally, besides most of us all using case on our phones

And while the A51 and A71 doesn't support wireless charging, any phones with plastic back like the A51 and A71 can work with wireless charging. Only metal backs won't work with wireless charging.
If I needed the camera and performance boost, I'd had gone for the A71, however, that's not me, and the only one game I play is Injustice, so, I ain't a gamer either,... That said, I'm gonna get the A51,use that extra savings to pickup an affordable wireless earbud,a pouch and a power bank. Thank you.

Looks like the 71 has about 1/3 better processor - not enough to justify the extra cost for me. I don't game that much nor take many photos. Also, I feel like I want to save this time around with my smartphone purchase. Maybe next time I'll spend a bit more. To me, it just feels like this time around I should save money. These smartphones are already more than capable enough of doing most tasks. I've also been looking into some Chinese phones but Verizon isn't compatible. I was amazed at some of the value those brands had though. The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 was practically a galaxy s20 at a third of the price, it just had a less powerful processor. Also idk how I feel about Chinese phones considering the how huwaei scandal

But, something unprecedented happened last year, SAMSUNG suddenly flooded the budget and midrange segment with amazing phones at very competitive prices, but as beautiful as their waterdrop notch styled screens were, you still could quickly tell they were not flagship grade phone, because though they were beautiful, they yet looked somewhat generic when viewed together with other phones from China with same design Fast forward to 2020 , i just can't believe that the midrange Samsung phones share the exact same frontal (screen) and rear (camera layout) design as the top of the line flagships for 2020... Its just amazing how premium the Galaxy A51 looks, next to last year's S10. I got my A51 two days ago at a shopping mall,which happened to also have the S20 Ultra, S10 and Note 10+, as well as the A71 and A80, so ofcus, being an enthusiast , i spent a whole hour playing with every single one of them, and though they were all great, i still was very excited to leave the mall with my new A51 purchase... Yes, as i found it to e a s i l y be the perfect balance of what i truly needed in a smartphone ,in 2020 I'm yet to find anyone who wasn't very happy with their A51 purchase , its just really the perfection of Value4Money, at least, that's what she said I can confidently say, buying the A51 is easily the best decision i've made so far in 2020.
im on the opposite side of this debate then lol--im a heavy mobile gamer and photographer (though i have an actual digital camera for that) so i would prefer the a71 but the a51 is still a great phone

Just ordered the a71 it’s definitely a better phone with that 730. Was waiting for the s20+ but once I seen it and played with it I couldn’t justify the extra $769.99 when I can get the a71 with the same look and feel of the more expensive s20+. I hope I made a good choice 🤞🏼

I like that Samsung has adopted the note 10 design for these phones, and I hope to see more uniformed launches in the future. Screen difference is negligible, fast charging is not
the cameras are exactly the same style as the s20 and the only thing the same about the note 10 and a51 a71 is the hole punch and the glass isnt curved like the s20 isnt curved
@@headlesspanda2464 Yep this is true. I have the A50 and THAT has the back of the Note 10/10+ in the case of the camera setup. In that case I don't think any of them have curved glass. Whether it's the "base" A10 and up phones or these. (they might, but I see bezels on the A50 [which is the lower version of the A51 - which is how I see that phone]) A51 and A71 have the s20's camera setup without the 100x zoom.
Wow, this midrange has more cameras than my s10e. Impressive. I feel like more and more people will be shifting to midrange price phones as flagship prices continue to skyrocket.
I feel like there's only so much improvement in important stuff that you can get in flagships. It's now just a little improvement and some gimmicks. The fact that you can get similar stuff for 800 less is mad, especially with OnePlus on the market

I was confused but after watching this video I was able to make my decision. I went to the samsung store and had both phones in my hand and I loved both. However, as you've mentioned in this video, galaxy a71 is well worth those extra few dollars investment. I own this phone now and I love its performance and overall feel. Most android phones have os updates for 2 years and security updates for 3 (including samsung), iphones usually have updates for up to 4 years. Yes thats a significant deference for people who care about that, but if we compare the a71 to the new se (same price range), the average person who is not in the apple ecosystem would appreciate more the better (by far) display, camera and battery life than the top-end chipset and an extra year of updates.
If you upgrade from an iphone 8/8 plus or older model and you dont have an apple watch or imac I would heavily recommend the a71. You will have a drastically better experience.
@Michael Bing I have a 2017 android device, i just got an update last week but not for the latest os but atleast they still make the old phone os better debunking what you said that android just left their devices in the dust without software updates after 2 years

I'm staying with Snapdragon 730 and just bought A71,a week ago,actually and I don't have any complaints about it. All looks awesome for now,the device is fast,display is WOW,pictures are brilliant, zoom is just fine... I love it!

Tough choice! But on Amazon $279 for the A51 vs $395 for the A71 is a significant difference. The A71 is the obvious winner in performance, but I don't think I do anything on my phone that needs that increase in performance. That's my thinking as of now anyway. I went with the A51.

Hmmmm in my opinion I think the A71 is the better phone. It has better cameras, CPU, GPU, more RAM, bigger battery and faster charging tech. On top of that , the A71 is using UFS 2.1 memory vs the A51 UFS 2.0 so the better option is definitely the A71
I'm using A51 and so far it does the job. As a daily driver for sms, emails and calls it works for me but for gamers, nah! Call of Duty lags pretty much everytime. One thing I like with a51 is the screen as it's enomoursly large but its weight is very light. As if you dont have a phone in your pocket. 😀
Same. I bought the A71 as a backup phone (my primary phone is the S20 FE) and the A71 is too big for me to use even as a backup. I'd rather have the A51 for the size alone.

The a71 is rlly good. Im a heavy gamer and i once played pubg on smooth and ultra for some heavy hours. There was no drop in performance whatsoever. Geekbench also showed that the internals were all good as well
I got the a71 with silicone case included inside the box. I might say it's kinda bulky with a hard case, but with silicone for me it's just fine kinda getting used to it.
I have 2 different phones I have an S10+ thru Verizon & I just picked up an A71 both of them signed on to my home Wi-Fi S10+ might be a little faster but it's literally about the same lol & absolutely love the A71 📱 just my opinion I don't think you'd be disappointed in either 📱👍👍
I've bought the A71 after I got my A5 2017 screen broken. I thought the present galaxy A wouldn't be as great without the IP67 certification (which I was disappointed). Turns out I'm loving the phone right now. I chose A71 over A51 due to the internals and the charger which is faster since I'm connecting it to GWA2 which will need more connection and more energy.
Don't know why but I feel A71 is underrated. I saw many videos where they said A71 isn't worth it. But it's the only phone which fulfills all of my requirements. Even A71 is having in build screen recorder which A51 don't have. But A51 is good though. But A71 is great for me. Thankyou fot the review :)
I am considering either the A51 or A71. Even before watching this video I decided I would prefer the A71 due to its better specs. But in reference to the supplied earbuds you said "I can't imagine anyone using either of these earbuds anyway". Why not? Are earbuds supplied with phones that bad? Or do you just prefer to use the phone's speaker? If I am around other people I must consider that they may not want to listen to my videos so I use earbuds. why would you buy A71 instead of waiting until christmas for A91 and a A quantum? WHY why would you want to waste your money so fast and you let yourself flex? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!?
Just revisited these two models days ago. As it turns out, the A71 has had a bad track record of repeated system crashes, monitor mishaps, and even MB failures after just one year of use. Surprisingly none of these have been heard of on the A51 (from the phone rroaur tech's perspective), but after some 5-10 minutes of trying it in store I found that the A51's form feels too small. Plus, due to doubts on the A series' overall build construction I think I should just stay out of it. Will look into the Note 10 Lite instead. So phone specs don't always take priority. Other things do matter as well (eg. long-term maintenance record)......
I have the A71... so far so good... it does stutter on the camera and scrolling on the facebook once in a while ... but overall very good. i came from an LG V20

Bought an A71 for the CPU and the the camera. Enjoying the experience so far. I wish samsung can consider making mid range phones IP68 certified in the future.
I'm still sporting the note 4 so I can switch out the batteries which is super nice but is the battery much more different than the note 4? Would I regret switching to a A51 or A71? Money isn't an issue for me but I don't like wasting it either
About the front-facing (selfie) camera, I believe the difference in the hole size and quality is the aperture is bigger on the a71 which means it lets more light in, hence more details in the image

don't remove the screen protector there's a setting in the display settings that lets you bump up the sensitivity when using a protector.
Nah the screen protector is junk and GG3 is the most scratch resistant of all versions.

Do it. Samsung offers so much more customization and their phones have better specs at cheaper prices.
Most android phones have os updates for 2 years and security updates for 3 (including samsung), iphones usually have updates for up to 4 years. Yes thats a significant deference for people who care about that, but if we compare the a71 to the new se (same price range), the average person who is not in the apple ecosystem would appreciate more the better (by far) display, camera and battery life than the top-end chipset and an extra year of updates.
If you upgrade from an iphone 8/8 plus or older model and you dont have an apple watch or imac I would heavily recommend the a71. You will have a drastically better experience.
@Michael Bing I have a 2017 android device, i just got an update last week but not for the latest os but atleast they still make the old phone os better debunking what you said that android just left their devices in the dust without software updates after 2 years

The camera difference has to do with the software being more optimized on the a71 than on a51, also the processor has a part on it also.
I'd get the A51 because there's basically no difference, just go for a flagship if you want a significant difference

I'm staying with Snapdragon 730 and just bought A71,a week ago,actually and I don't have any complaints about it. All looks awesome for now,the device is fast,display is WOW,pictures are brilliant, zoom is just fine... I love it!

@@TechDaily glad to have you back, btw you hear about samsung apparently working on and releasing a galaxy fold version 2 this year after they already released the z flip. I Think it's crazy how fast Samsung can put out phones in one year like S series, A series, and Note series now the foldables too all innovative and packed with new features, while other companies struggle to release one phone in the same time span. Truly they keep other companies on their toes.
Having gotten another take on both phones, this time, I will say Thanks with a K for the overall study but the previous advisor did seem to focus on the quality of each camera in all kinds of landscapes or taking faces. I am grateful for the overall of you advising on both smartphones, it's also a preference for having the top camera versus wanting a top overall smartphone.

Tough choice! But on Amazon $279 for the A51 vs $395 for the A71 is a significant difference. The A71 is the obvious winner in performance, but I don't think I do anything on my phone that needs that increase in performance. That's my thinking as of now anyway. I went with the A51.

A71 seems bigger to me, but specs attracts as well. Specially 25W fast charging and selfies.. but no wireless charging is a big missing
Wireless charging is useless to me. I wouldn't care for such a stupid feature. It charges far slower

Hmmmm in my opinion I think the A71 is the better phone. It has better cameras, CPU, GPU, more RAM, bigger battery and faster charging tech. On top of that , the A71 is using UFS 2.1 memory vs the A51 UFS 2.0 so the better option is definitely the A71

I'm using A51 and so far it does the job. As a daily driver for sms, emails and calls it works for me but for gamers, nah! Call of Duty lags pretty much everytime.
One thing I like with a51 is the screen as it's enomoursly large but its weight is very light. As if you dont have a phone in your pocket. 😀

Same. I bought the A71 as a backup phone (my primary phone is the S20 FE) and the A71 is too big for me to use even as a backup. I'd rather have the A51 for the size alone.
The A71 is only about 1/8 to 1/4 inch taller and no wider.

The a71 is rlly good. Im a heavy gamer and i once played pubg on smooth and ultra for some heavy hours. There was no drop in performance whatsoever. Geekbench also showed that the internals were all good as well
does the a51 have some lag issues using the phone, opening apps and stuff ? Is there so much difference to a71 with snapdragon?

I got the a71 with silicone case included inside the box. I might say it's kinda bulky with a hard case, but with silicone for me it's just fine kinda getting used to it.

I have 2 different phones I have an S10+ thru Verizon & I just picked up an A71 both of them signed on to my home Wi-Fi S10+ might be a little faster but it's literally about the same lol & absolutely love the A71 📱 just my opinion I don't think you'd be disappointed in either 📱👍👍

I've bought the A71 after I got my A5 2017 screen broken. I thought the present galaxy A wouldn't be as great without the IP67 certification (which I was disappointed). Turns out I'm loving the phone right now. I chose A71 over A51 due to the internals and the charger which is faster since I'm connecting it to GWA2 which will need more connection and more energy.

Don't know why but I feel A71 is underrated. I saw many videos where they said A71 isn't worth it. But it's the only phone which fulfills all of my requirements. Even A71 is having in build screen recorder which A51 don't have. But A51 is good though. But A71 is great for me. Thankyou fot the review :)

I am considering either the A51 or A71. Even before watching this video I decided I would prefer the A71 due to its better specs. But in reference to the supplied earbuds you said "I can't imagine anyone using either of these earbuds anyway". Why not? Are earbuds supplied with phones that bad? Or do you just prefer to use the phone's speaker? If I am around other people I must consider that they may not want to listen to my videos so I use earbuds. Do you think there is something wrong with the earbuds supplied with the A51 and A71 (and with phones in general)?

Hey it’s all good! This video went out super late last night anyway
Just revisited these two models days ago. As it turns out, the A71 has had a bad track record of repeated system crashes, monitor mishaps, and even MB failures after just one year of use. Surprisingly none of these have been heard of on the A51 (from the phone rroaur tech's perspective), but after some 5-10 minutes of trying it in store I found that the A51's form feels too small. Plus, due to doubts on the A series' overall build construction I think I should just stay out of it. Will look into the Note 10 Lite instead.
So phone specs don't always take priority. Other things do matter as well (eg. long-term maintenance record)......
In june Im getting either the a51 or the a71 it depends for my moms budget of buying me a phone

I'm still sporting the note 4 so I can switch out the batteries which is super nice but is the battery much more different than the note 4? Would I regret switching to a A51 or A71? Money isn't an issue for me but I don't like wasting it either
About the front-facing (selfie) camera, I believe the difference in the hole size and quality is the aperture is bigger on the a71 which means it lets more light in, hence more details in the image
