Finally someone using some good classical music. That statue with the horse represents Skanderbeg, basically the reason why Europe wasn't invaded by the ottomans
Skanderbeg was an incredible warrior, but he didn't stop the Ottoman advance into Europe. They made it as far as Vienna where they were halted by the Hapsburgs, but they continued to control most of the Balkans for centuries.
@@kidfox3971There were plans of invading Italy at the time though, and Skanderbeg slowed them down for 25 years and made the Ottomans lose quite a lot of troops with limited numbers , so theres that.
Hola Ben, there are some colourful buildings in Tirana, which is interesting to see. Nice video as always. Newcastle is in the toughest UEFA champios with PSG and AC Milan, so good luck on that one amigo. Adios
Yes it was a lot more colourful than Skopje that's for sure. And yep, very very tough group! Got my tickets sorted though, bring it on!😄 Gracias amigo, cuidate!
I smiled and laughed all the way through this. I love your spontaniety as we have had to wander most of our journey as flexiroam never worked! We have been humbled relying on restaurants with wifi.
This is the first vlog I've seen of yours, Ben as I've got an upcoming trip to Tirana and Durres. I got your cloud joke and many more afterwards which made for very enjoyable viewing, I'm sure I will be watching more of your content very soon.
My favorite moments from this series are when you are enjoying nature. Rila lakes, that awesome canyon with the ladders and your hike up to the Brasov sign come to mind.
This video marked the end of my Lost in Europe Series. Saw this randomly on my youtube feed and I absolutely enjoyed this vlog, as an Albanian from Kosovo (bordering Albania) you missed out on a bunch of things in Tirana, but obviously I can see that you could only be there for a day so it's understandable. As for the cash only part... Yep... Supermarkets is genuinely the only place I can use my card.. And maybe KFC/ordering online lol. It's a shame.
Hi Ben, could you please tell me which city you preferred between Tirana and Skopje, architecture, to visit, attractions, facilities, nightlife and your personal feeling. Best regards
It would be difficult to say, I spent less than 24 hours in Tirana. However it seemed Tirana is a lot more clean and bright, although I’m unsure on how much there is to do. Skopje is a bit more of a rogue destination, but certainly an interesting and odd place. There’s also some really cool abandoned Olympic facilities and tunnels (former air raid shelters) near the city if that’s of interest. Matka Canyon is also well worth a visit if you choose Skopje. Hope that’s of some help
8:03 well yes i agree they need to be taken care of and everything but majority in albania do not own dogs except the farmers,i also find it great how foreigners have such a positive mind about the dogs in albania but also fascinated when i hear the western tourist asking us why only few people got dogs..well the answer to that is a question "what good do you see in owning a dog?" Except the farmers having one? I see in the west like Germany and swiss every person owning a dog like..i don't have a western culture, mindset and mentality but really what good does one see in owning dogs? You can have them at the animal health center and help them and basicaly let them free but owning one at home..what is there for a person? Maybe because of how many parents feel lonely after having their kids at the age of 18 go their own way?
Interesting to hear your point of view. I suppose most people in the Western world have a dog for companionship. They are just like little happy fluffy friends!
Come on... Just ask any albanian ! > This is the statue of Skanderbeg, the albanian hero. "The vast majority of the albanian population is muslim"... > NO, since religions were banned during Enver Hoxha's dictatorship, the majority of Albanians are atheists or non-practicing. Please, get some informations first🙄

Do you do research before you arrive in a country? As half the stuff you didn’t know… comes up straight away in a google search.
I usually would.. but I'd filmed 21 videos in 28 days, and didn't expect to not have phone signal when I was in Tirana! Sh*t happens :)
Tirana 💎
