The Cannibal disappeared after the Dragon Dance. In the second book of ASOIAF, Dany's blood riders goes off into the waste to look for help. One of them comes back and says that he saw the skeleton of an ENORMOUS dragon, so big that he and his horse could walk through it's skull. There were only a few known dragons that were that big, and the bodies of the other known ones are all accounted for. The books make it very clear that at the time of ASOIAF, no one has seen a living dragon in a hundred years, and bones can only survive for so long in the desert. I think this was the Cannibal.
I have always said the same as soon as I read that! I think you’re right.
Actually, bones can last thousands of years in desert as can skin and body tissue.. that's why many mummies are so well preserved
Cannibal, Sheepstealer, or Silverwing. They were the last Dragons to die after the Dance, since they weren't killed off during it. They all flew off, and as far as I recall, none where really ever seen again..
@@dougs7367 mummies are well preserved because they preserved the bodies in wax and wraps... not because of sand or the desert.
@@Nukapedia Yeah. Actually, sand and harsh desert winds are more likely to eat the meat out of any skeleton very fast, like abrasive eats rust from the metal.
It’s a shame that the cannibal was too wild to be claimed. If someone had claimed him during the dance, which ever side they fight on would have a major advantage.
imagine if during a massive war vagar shows up and they think that they won, but then the cannibal shows up flying covering the entire battlefield in darkness then vagar gets a look of terror on her face before a massive storm of flames comes spiraling down and burning hundreds of people and most of the dragons.
@@Bazel_The_Bombardier not realistic
cannibal was smaller then vhagar (vhagar balerion and meraxes are all bigger then cannibal
@@Peter-ld6bf not Meraxes as she had to be equal/ slightly greater than Drogon in size when she was killed. She never reached the enormity of balerion and vhagar
@@Peter-ld6bf Cannibal is same size with Balerion or even more. Most people think he’s dead because they believe no dragon can live longer than Balerion because he died of old age but forget to mention that he had been caged in the dragon pit for almost 40 years before he died, he was killed by the fact that he wasn’t allowed to fly which is important for dragons to live. The cannibal has always been a free dragon, never tamed and I believe he will show up in the last two books. GRRM promised a second dance of dragons and I believe the cannibal is going to be a part of it.
I’m surprised you almost came to my conclusion. Cannibal was from a different bloodline. Therefore he was trying to clean his birthplace of invading dragons.
yep
I think he is from another bloodline of Valyriar
Or (what I think it is better)
He is a truly free dragon born in shadow lands or other place with no magic bind him to a human.
Would be nice see other dragons than Valyrians ones. Maybe Cannibal can have some difference in his aparence. Like Valyrians made theirs by mixing wyrm + wyvern, but other dragons could be natural born, made by magic only or something else. Cuz Ice dragons are made only of ice when they die, turn in a puddle.
@@RubyAPBT I always thought the cannibal was maigor the cruel’s dragon before he claimed Balerion
Maegor*
A different bloodline from what? Not all the dragons in westeros were related. It was likely just an anomaly. There are people that eat people, it's possible that there are the occasional dragons that would eat other dragons. Any carnivore animal will eat one of it's own sometimes.
@@khanofkhans6546 Of course they are all related.
They are all from targaryans. All of them must be related from the original 5 they had.
Another thing we know is some do not lay egg, so could be just one of this 5 who had eggs.
Another thing is we don't know when the 5 died.
Cannibal was a huge problem too because he ate eggs and newborn dragons there so he thin out the bloodline even more.
We know that by Aegon the Conqueror time they had just 3 dragons. Meraxes had a egg but died before lay more. Vhagar had many and maybe all dragons around may be from her.
We know that dragons had other bloodline in Valirya, each one of the 40 houses there had their own bloodline of dragons.
There may be some in Shadow lands too.
Useless there is scarse food or another problem very few animals eat their own kind. As a dragon Canibal can hunt anything is westeros.
There is another thing too Canibal never had a rider. What are the chances of a targaryan dragon never have a targarian rider ever? Especialy one as old as him.
Dragons probably taste like chicken
Dragon Mc Nuggets you say
Yup! 👍🏻
With a little bit of heat 🤣
I imagine that they'll taste more like alligator.
That's what dragons say about people.
I really hope we get to see Cannibal. By far the one I’ve most looked forward to seeing!
Rhaenyra should be rule, hands down.
How do I get my price sir
Ok thanks for telling me

The way Nettles claimed Sheepstealer in the book was genius and I can’t wait to see the show’s adaptation in season 2!
@Jesse Jackson yep.
Me too!
I heard something that Nettles won't be featured in the second season of house of the dragon. Very disappointing
@@michelleh.7577 I’ve heard nothing about that. Nettles is an important character for Daemon’s story so I doubt it.

I love the thought of Damon surviving the crash against vagar finding Cannibal and being the one to bond with him and then flying somewhere to live out their remaining days. Neither of them were seen again it makes sense
That wasn't a crash... And that wasn't Damon.

Aegon wasnt the one first arrived at dragonstone, targaryens had been there for some generations. They were just idle on the island and during which vhagar and meraxes hatched out. And aegon had his dreams and convinced his sisters to unite westeros
I would love to see the cannibal dragon. After all in my opinion he is the king of all the dragons. A dragon that has no respect for humans and can make other dragons back down. We call that a king!
Sounds more like a tyrant than a king
The Ronin dragon.
He couldn't kill balerian, meraxes or vhagar. Nor vermithor or sheepstealer. He just went after dragons he knew were easier targets. He wasn't the king because some of the smaller dragons were afraid of him.
@@khanofkhans6546 he didn't go after them, but that doesn't mean he couldn't have beaten them. Don't get me wrong, we don't actually know who would win a fight. It just doesn't matter all that much. Predators grow old, because they don't take unnecessary risks. Feeding on much smaller and dead dragons isn't much of a risk. Attacking and fighting the likes of Balerion and Vhagar is a guaranteed way of taking injury, even if he wins. With the potential of dying later on from the wounds he took.
@@noneofyourbusiness4294 he was not even half the size of Balerion or Vhaegar, so no he loses
I like the theory of Cannibal already living there and seeing everyone has an intruder on his territory. But I think he eats another dragon who have been domestic as weaker since that instinct to hunt has been tamed out of them.
Because they cannot be what they were born to do. And he doesn't mind eating people because he has seen how humans have tamed other dragons. Animals do what comes naturally, eat when hungry and sleep when tired. But anger against others and particular at people is a learned behavior. But that is just my theory. Dragons have free will and riders forget that believing the dragon won't disobey a mistake. They can immediately sense if someone approaching them is worthy or connects in the same frequency as them. Then there's a bond made. But anyways, I still need to completely understand how they bond to riders. I do also think the dragon can smell the blood. Just another theory.
Jon Snow is probably the most best king that ever ruled. He is honest, fair, feels remorse and is selfless. Plus he is the real King .
They already change the Lore a bunch already. I wouldn't put it past them to have Daemon claim Cannibal after his dragon dies in the battle with Vhagar. And the Two of them escape with Nettles and Sheepstealer.

I think Rhanerya should be queen, she was named the successor of her father King Viserys & she knows The "Song Of Ice & Fire" Secret
She is our queen 👑
Cannibal was most likely meant for Meagor who rejected the hatchling and chose Balerion.
I have been a fan of Rhaenyra from the beginning. She comes across very stoic and is very assertive but not in an arrogant way. She’s diplomatic and genuinely cares about others. She has the makings of to be a great Queen. I like Damien by her side because he can be ruthless when necessary and Rhaenyra needs that unapologetic fierceness when necessary…but when her son and his dragon were murdered not even Damien could muster up a mothers deep rage she has now. Mama Bear has awoken and it’s on like Donkey Kong!!!!!

I did research. Cannibal is the largest wild dragon. Vhagar is still bigger, but it's close.
She's about the same size now but she's a bit longer he's actually bigger and a bit older due to him being belarions age.
@@ozzibear There's no solid evidence that Cannibal is Balerion's age (or older). It's all folklore. If Cannibal was larger than Vhagar then the Targaryen's would bring it up and constantly try to tame it for power.
The most likely conclusion is that Cannibal was originally meant for Meagor who rejected the hatchling for Balerion and left it in the wild.
Even if he wasn't as big as Vaghar at the time of the dance, he most likely did get larger than her, since he survived the dance. Plus he would still be the biggest Dragon on Westeros since Vaghar died.
@@BleedingGrafitti yes and no, it was said that before the Targaryens arrived on dragonstone there was already a large dragon terrorizing the people and as described it was black with greenish eyes, that same description fits to the cannibal, he would also feast on every dragon that made its way close enough to dragonstone from valyria and that may be the reason why he sees the targaryen dragons as a threat and kills everyone that tries to approach him
@@BleedingGrafitti the books actually mentioned that dozens of targs/blackfires have/had tried to tame him but none lived to tell the tale and they eventually just gave up and closed the area off where he roosts.

He will be the largest most fearsome dragon ever shown on a GoT series! One other dragon had black flames as well...........
This video brought to you by the word "dragon"
Been waiting for a video about the Cannibal
They could really use this and connecting House of the Dragon with game of thrones in the future with the snow series. There's tons of different ways that Jon Snow can get a hold of a dragon egg and that is one of them or at least it can lead to many different outcomes involving dragon eggs. Oh and I want to mention my theory about Laenor Valyrian, since he got away in a boat I figure he could easily make his way to the riverlands where Raina and gaming have allies. And Josh I think he will be the one to trap Crispin Cole and an actor revenge for punching a CLEAN hole in his lover's face! ("Seriously even with the aid of the teenage Queen I still can't figure out how he got away with that without being punished 🤔...) Either way I'm guessing by the timeline he dies and episode two or three of season 2.
did you read the books?
Rhaenyra should be the queen. Cannibal will be a wicked addition to the show 😁
It would be so hilarious if they designed the Cannibal exactly like the thumbnail. I'd die laughing.
I believe that Cannibal is top 3 dragons in HoD timeline because if a dragon kills and eats other dragons, then it must have experience for killing.
Well he only ever went after young dragons
he only ever ate eggs and corpses
I WANT TO SEE BALERION, MERAXES and VHAGAR on their prime!!!!!! , AND THE CANNIBAL, TESSARION, GREYGHOST and SHEEPSTEALER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The cannibal dragon is dope! 🔥🐲
The Cannibal being at Dragonstone since before the Targaryens is only a rumour and extremely unlikely since it is implied in the book Fire and Blood that it is smaller than Vermithor and only preys on hatchlings and dragon corpses.
after ep 7, its clear that we wont see the cannibal, since silver denys was grilled by vermithor, whereas in the books it was cannibal. They changed it.
Silverwing is also alive after The Dance. They haven't said what happened to her. Maybe she and The Cannibal could get together after the war. Also, it's assumed that Sheep Stealer stayed in the Vale after the war but it never says specifically that she did or that her rider did either. She was seen by the Wildlings of the Vale but it never says how long she had been there. A lot could have happened that we don't know about.
I think anyone worthy to tame and ride the Cannibal would never have tried to tame him
I cannot get enough of the cannibal. He has to be as big as balarian
cannibal was said to be bigger then balarion according to the book.
@@LONEWOLF-yq9uk no there's no mention of that ,only said that he is biggest among the three wild dragons.and i want to see him bigger than balerion.
He is not as big as Balerion in fact he is smaller than Vermithor. Being on Dragonstone since before Targaryens is a myth.
@@jameskulisiewicz4329 sheep stealer is considered huge and one of the oldest dragons, and the Cannibal is way bigger than sheep stealer. Stated in fire and blood
In the book cannibal left on a dragonstone, riderless.
its simple, the mightiest dragon of all is drogon, she is a black dragon just like ballerion the dread and canibal, she born from open fire and grow faster than any other ancient dragon.she is a free roam dragon and the only dragon that ever turned kingslanding into ashes.
The cannibal must be a symbolism of the dance

Question...Was Dany the only Targaryen who could endure fire? Ya know, the unburnt. I mean most of them call themselves the dragon or the blood of the dragon if not of the old valyrion. But they all seem to disintegrate or normally burn like other people.

Daemon is the rightful king
Cannibal is by no means the most dangerous dragon. It's stated multiple times that Cannibal only really eats hatchlings and eggs, it hardly ever bothers itself with people or adult dragons. Sure Cannibal is uncontrollable but he'd hardly even a nuisance, and there aren't even really any mentions of Cannibal attacking the smallfolk besides 'Silver Denys'.

Cannibal must had to have an unevolved mental state. Just like us, humans.
Mental stability is very important.
But if cannibal returned to give condolences to Calise. Then he might not be as cruel as portrayed. With his appetite, it isn't unusual for some species to feast upon fellow species.
He may had secretly chosen Calise as his rider. But how can that be determined? And I suspect that Drogo could be the descendant of cannibal.
I think that Rhaenyra should be queen of the soon to be seven kingdoms. She didn't want a war but her sons death will force her hand. But I can see Damien ride the cannibal dragon if the dragon would let him. I think that she could be a interesting leader.
It'll be interesting if he makes an appearance in the Jon snow's series.
he would be 300+ years old at last, maybe even 414+ if he arrived before Targaryens on Dragonstone
@@blagoje7 Yeah, and even if he were to be claimed, he would be too dangerous to ride. If he were to be 400+ years old, he would be so massive that he could barely lift himself up to fly.

Also, magic could come into play. There is a chance, and I find it really logical that dragons near magic filled places live longer. Places with strong magic could also attract Dragons, like yeah, they could go anywhere they please, but think about it, wouldn't it make sense if Dragons were attracted to places strong with Magic? Could be the a place in the north, or another place. This could explain where Drogon is aswell, he didn't know Westeros, so if he didn't go back to Essos it wouldn't make much sense for him fo take Dany to a random place in Westeros UNLESS, they are attracted to Magic filled location. Which could explain where Cannibal went, Where Drogon went, and why Cannibal would still be alive, or maybe his corpse/bones, but it would still act as a way to re-introduce more dragons, explain where Drogon left and maybe even play a role in the revival of Dany (If they go that Route).....

Did the cannibal lay eggs? Maybe Danny's eggs? If so jon could claim the cannibal
I think it’s speculated those eggs are from Dreamfyre. I’m leaning toward Daemon finding him and heading to old Valyria bc fuck politics. He appeared at Coryls funeral bc Daemon wanted to pay respects and see everyone one last time before leaving. Daemon and the cannibal share so many of the same personality traits (from what I know) and GRRM always uses that stuff as symbolism. This is 100% my head canon and not really
Though lol

Only a cannibal can ride a cannibal
Agon was born on dragonstone... he didn't arive there
I think Cannibal will have a rider because Daemon mentioned there are 3 wild dragons as the possibility of trying.

Cannibal even GRRM didnt confirm, by deducing the stories , should be much bigger than balerion by the time of DoD, i would say almost twice the size of Vhagar by the time of DoD, and he was one of the 4 dragons that survived it so im pretty sure that in the comming books we will hear from the cannibal, as of HotD , he should be on screen since in the books he flew over Corlys Velaryon funeral and that happened in the timeline we will see in HotD, not season 2 but maybe 3 or 4.
was he really bigger than Balerion?
@@ororo159 No, not a chance. It's stated in Fire and Blood that Vermithor was the 3rd largest known dragon in Westeros, with Balerion as the largest and Vhagar as the second. And we can deduce that other dragons hatched around the same time as Vermithor such as Silverwing and Dreamfyre are also larger than Cannibal. He's probably comparable in size to Caraxes, Meleys and Sheepstealer, but I'd assume slightly smaller as being a wild dragon he wouldn't be as well fed as the others.

Cannibal was not a Targaryen dragon, but belonged to the Valyrian family who built Dragonstone. So he was not bonded to them and they could not ride him. That's also why he ate Targaryen dragons... They don't do that, unless ordered so... Nothing else makes sense
There was no dragonrider family on Dragonstone prior to the Targaryens. Dragons aren’t bonded to specific families.
@@MorallyDubiousFrog You obviously haven't understood blood magic in Valyria if you believe that... Why do you think they practiced incest? Dragonstone was purchased by the Targaryens, not built.
