I can pay this no higher compliment than saying this is a painter's painter at work. Courageous stuff - ignoring the picturesque and going for the whole. Well done.
I relate to this completely, and this is the first time I've heard another artist say it. Except for "it's never finished, never perfect." I feel it when it's finished, and "perfection" just comes from the painting giving me joy.
Whenever I see your paintings, I experience unbridled joy. Like, there's still hope for people like me to just express whatever comes up and out of me. Thank you for sharing this bit of yourself, and of course, the great big parts of yourself through your art. I feel enriched.
Thanks for such an interesting peek into not just your studio, but into your painting process. You are the 4th artist that I have actually seen paint (grateful for RUclips!) I, too, feel inspired by the abstract forms in nature - wonderful to hear another person talk with such passion. Also, thanks for the warning about those "highs" and lows that are part of the journey. (Toronto ☮)
FANTASTIC and inspiring works, studio and story. Could you please do a time lapse of one full painting. Thanks for posting these wonderful videos. I could watch you paint all day! :) Katooshie in Canada
Just looked at this video along with another of yours and feel a great empathy with your ideals of representing the natural world in paint. The world around us presents so much scope for interpretation I often wonder why anyone wants to paint anything else!
You sum up exactly my approach to landscape painting - they are beautiful paintings full of interest, texture and special composition. I have never encountered your work before but will now follow it with interest.
I enjoyed looking at your work in progress, It made me feel cheerful and good about my own work. I live and work in Cornwall in England and I go to my studio every day. My work is very different from the paintings I did in London. I am reacting to my new surroundings which at times are overwhelming , and I am finding the language I need to use.
As soon as I saw the opening shot I thought to myself "the landscape w/ the patches of snow and big sky look familiar", that's because I live in New Mexico and used to spend time in Durango, Wolf Creek, and Pogosa Springs. Still need to visit Chaco Canyon. Talk about Canyon and visit I looked up the Tansey Contemporary Gallery on Canyon road where it says you show your work. If you still show there I will get to see your work in person next time I'm in Santa Fe. I also took the time to look on Google images and your body of work is very impressive. I feel like I'm looking at jazz or a stream your style is so free flowing and fluid, very refreshing and inspiring. Thanks for the enjoyable video and awesome paintings, I look forward to seeing them one day soon. Peace be with you.
Krista... Very interesting to see. And beautifull results. Pieter, A Dutch painter living in Bali. At the moment in painting block.. But.. That gives me wanting to see what other artists do. Thank you
Thanks for showing and talking through the process, appreciated. I would like to see a full video from beginning to end, thanks. Music and yr voice are very nice.
Thanks so much Krista - really enjoyed seeing your process, and then those last shots from inspiration to abstract work. Love your take on markmaking also reflecting the sounds of what you are painting too. Will look forward to watching out for more. Warmly. Janet
These are wonderful paintings. I am fairly new to abstract acrylic painting, but my process is similar--it's cool to see an experienced artist talk about and show their process, it helps me deepen my understanding of what is possible.
What is the first thing you did ? Is it water soluble crayon or graphite? What did you put over it? Thank you, your work is amazing! I just found you today♥️
krista- I've watched this video many times. It makes me smile and laugh for joy out loud. You look like dancer when painting. I wonder if you paint to music. I wish you good health and happiness in your future painting.
Your video had helped me find my path. I love art and could not feel my area. I've been very confused. I think your video will help me in my next venture in Art. I'll let you know. I hope I can find my comfort place.
Thanks for explaining so well your process. I've never used water soluble crayon, never heard of it. But it really struck me how it just seems to appear as you brush over it. I have never thought of abstracting nature . . . funny I guess. Great work.
I really love the connections you choose not to make! Like someone said after Miles Davis finished a number and I quote! "I really liked the notes he didn't play."
Really beautiful the words when comes from Artist have a wonderful painting, and that's you have it in great feelings with a beautiful viewpoint, awesome
Love your work tremendously ... I would so love if you could give some tutorials from the start to finish of a few large abstract paintings of yours . I follow Nicholas Wilton & have seen your wonderful interview with him ... I need tutorials to help me as I am just a beginner ....hope to see one of yours soon !!!!
I can pay this no higher compliment than saying this is a painter's painter at work. Courageous stuff - ignoring the picturesque and going for the whole. Well done.
Thank you John, for me, having a painter say "that woman could paint" would be the highest compliment!
gorgeous art - so very uplifting - and your description of your process is eloquent and genuine - thank you, Krista!

+Krista Harris what do you use after drawing with pencil at 1:43 Somebody know?
+Éder Campos
I'm using a water-soluble black crayon and sealing it with acrylic gel medium.

MARAVILHOSOS OS SEUS TRABALHOS ,PARABÉNS ,SUCESSO.
Marvelous wonderful ❤
I found this quite informative and inspiring. Currently teaching elementary students to make abstract work and your commentary will be helpful
Thanks Nancy! I love the idea of elementary students looking at and learning about abstract art, and am honored to be part of their journey

I really love the connections you choose not to make! Like someone said after Miles Davis finished a number and I quote! "I really liked the notes he didn't play."
I believe the quote is actually "Its not the notes you play, its the notes you don't play", said by Miles Davis himself.
I could have watched you paint for so much longer. Thank you for sharing. May I ask, is that gel medium over the crayon?
Awesomely beautiful!
Me gusta mucho tu magia y como exorcizas la naturaleza. gracias por compartirla. Un abrazo de un pintor en Barcelona.
