8:48 genuinely the first time Ive really seen Manly being scared with the same intensity as me
I remember there was another game, Manly had just done reading a computer, and turned around to see a black shadow out the window (ALSO silent and no stupid jumpscare noises). But yeah, this one got me really good too. I probably would have shot at it out of reflex/spite too.
@@aquablast3155 Too bad you don't know the name of the game, i love these kinds of games where there are no stupid jump scare noises but it scares you by things you could totally miss in a playthrough and be scared to death when realizing there has been something all the time.
@@aquablast3155 I do know there was this game in a morgue that was very popular on RUclips a while ago. It had excellent scares. There was the monster, sitting on a piece of furniture just in the peripheral vision, staying there until you looked at it directly, or it being on top of a light fixture when you came back into the room, but it just disappeared if it fell out of players view. I've seen many players miss the second one and it really got me good, especially because I was alone with the knowledge of the monster being up there, waiting for it to strike - but it never did.

@@gaminggoddess85 Exactly what I meant, thanks
Here's my horror hot take: Guns don't take away from the horror. Any competent horror game can scare you, weather your character is armed or not
Sometimes it even adds. The oh shit factor really hits maximum when you realize you can't just run away.
Being able to drop or drive away some of the horrors also allows for more naturally introduced downtime for the player to take in setpieces or explore for lore and so on. When the player is defenseless, the pace is ever at the mercy of the monster in regard to when it's chase time and when you can catch your breath. And after a while that can start to feel obvious and arbitrary.
Additionally, downtime created through victory also leaves room for suspense: was that _really_ all of them? Could the noise draw something else in?
A defensless protag is better left for shorter stories (or segments), enabling a tightly controlled experience to be set up.
I liked the way Silent Hill did it, making the Guns feel like shit so that the player has a higher propensity to prefer running away.
It wasn't a horror game per se, but Ghost Hunter on PS2 had the player be a cop that for once doesn't lose their service pistol at the start for plot reasons or devs forcibly disarming you. Too bad for you, it literally does nothing to ghosts (except very specific ones like animated objects, and even that just destroys what the ghosts are possessing).
That's what I've been saying all this time. Survival psychological horror is best horror. When I see an invincible enemy against the defenseless protag, it very quickly kills any kind of tension. Especially if it's a one-hit kill. Then you'll just keep dying to it until you learn how to beat it, and you'll have seen the monster more times than your own momma by then, making the horror aspect disappear completely. The repetiteveness of only being able to run away or hide from the monster also becomes grating really fast. Combat and a health system, on the contrary, makes any game more tense, sometimes turning even non-horror games into horror, and you'll always be changing your tactics and managing resources. And if you THEN throw in an invincible monster - sparingly, occasionally - now that's real tension. The horror of realizing you can't beat it works wonderfully in contrast to the other monsters, which is why Pyramid Head is superior :) There's also nothing like a goddamn zombie that you definitely killed in the beginning of the game suddenly coming back to life (hello, Resident Evil 1 mansion!)
I can't stop laughing at the death noise. It sounds like the AUGGGH snore sound, except like someone stepped on his balls and woke up him up
Exactly 🙅🙇💀
@@T.Bookiki Every time they attack or the character dies I just hear AUUUUGH. Maybe they're just really, really cranky that we woke all of them up
The way you described that was perfect haha.
11:19 the first one
11:39 no haha funny sound
13:41 I thought it was mc making?
Imagine getting sent to the backrooms with a handgun to fight the cbt demons
That mask was an excellent jump scare without actually being a jump scare. That takes skill lol
My heart skipped a beat!
I love those more subtle scares far more than the loud scares. It’s more realistic and terrifying, I think, to just turn around and have something or some*one* that just isn’t supposed to be there just stare at you from a place you were in only a moment previously.
14:40 the scariest rave I've ever seen.
One of the raviest I've ever experienced

In all honesty it does sound fun though.
I can't see the words "hyperrealistic" without giggling a little. I blame the creeepypasta years.
Damn that is some hyperrealistic blood and eyes and screams right 'ere
12 year old kids writing creepy pasta kind of thing
...then, hyperrealistic blood started pouring from Squidward's eyes...
Not just that but how can something be hyper realistic? How can you get more real than realistic?
@@paperclip6377 Well, you have reality. Then you can make an artistic depiction of it. If its realistic its because you´re sticking to reality for structure, hyperrealistic is when you are trying to imitate reality to a degree that is as possible as a 1 to 1. (Graphically speaking) You can take a look at a game/animation and say "Gorsh it sure looks good" but then you see another that "behaves" real (As in reflections, shadows rtx etc) and you say " Damn this looks realistic" but the moment these games actually look like an actual video from a camera or what we see everyday with our eyes, thats when its hyperrealistic. Battlefield, arma, hell let loose, they all are realistic but now we are about to have games like "Unrecord" that actually look real.
Damn, this horror is gonna make it big on RUclips. If only they had a good sound designer
Seriously. My boyfriend is a sound engineer, he always says "sound design is one of those things most people only notice when it's really bad"
@@WobblesandBean... or really good. Like in Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery, Subnautica, Nier automata, Hyper Light Drifter, or Neo Scavenger to name a few.
If someone has some recommendations on games with good sound design / music, etc. I would love to try them :)
The true horror is their ridiculously annoying screams.
I can't take the game seriously when the ennemies make the "loudest moan" sound
I aready seen 4 different youtubers that I subscribe to have played it, very good game though even if it was very short. SCary.
I'm scared of my own shadow, but your videos are cool af.
To be fair your shadow, in particular, is very mercurial and not to be trusted.
If your serious that would be a one of a kind phobia.
I’ve gotten scared in the dark by balloons it scrapes by you skin like something is slowly touching you.
is it too tall? that is a sign it is a dangerous one.
As you learned by this game, shoot it
@@God-ld6ll or that the sun is setting
Well i guess bodycam horror games are getting a bit popular
The real horror starts when the camera turns off.
I like the action bodycam horror one
Is there any chance of this becoming a trend that, in some months or next year, everyone will say that killed indie horror games?
Can't wait for this genre to get abused to high hell, much like the PS1 graphics era, and where every single other game follows suit, and Triple AAA studios catch on.
@@guilhermeborbabrito3664 personally, i think it would *boost* the indie horror scene, with it's own little subgenre of horror. i can see bodycam style games catching on
I have never seen a more disturbing ending
The atmosphere is so terrifying with the sounds and lighting, and then you get to then end and you get a rave XD
That ending was surely unexpected
"Condemned: Criminal Origins" is the game you're thinking of. It's definitely reminiscent of it. Except this time you keep your gun instead of tossing it once you're out of bullets. And you don't collect dead birds for reasons that are never explained.
I still can't get my head around having a game in which a police officer throws away his service weapon after expending one magazine, then through the entire course of the game never works out that guns can, in fact, be reloaded.
@@DGneoseeker1 In fairness, he lost his service weapon. Killer got it.
@@Bluesit32 It's been a while since I played it. Still, you'd think he'd know how to take bullets out of one gun and put them in another gun...
Pyrocynical made a great hourlong video essay about it five years ago
It is explained. It said in the game that hundreds of birds, i think crows specifically are dying abnormally throughout the city. Youre with an investigation bureau so i assume you collect them for samples.
I just love the way you play games. No useless shouting, just... human reactions. It's super relaxing, and at the same time I can really enjoy the game and not just the person playing it. Thanks for all your work.

this is closer to condemned than re and re7 dlc end of zoe is literally just condemned.

8:48 first time I’ve seen manly get spooked by something
Ikr 😂, sadly he didnt shoot it
It’s funny how manly reacts so manly against unexpected super loud monsters on the dark but gets extremely scared when spotting a random mask lmao 🤣
The Thriller dance at the end threw me off so bad 😂 The monster won't die until it finishes the dance! Talk about the undead!
Honestly, I was laughing my ass off when the little one sprinted in after he killed the big one at 13:40!
Omg me toooooo lmaooo!!! like oh fffff 😂
Whew, this game would be pretty tense to play, I'd bet...
7:49 - If someone screams like a banshee and rushes you with a weapon, _especially_ while you're holding a gun? ... Yeah, they had it coming. I'm pretty sure these are at least possessed even if they aren't "monsters".
Body cams are usually on the chest, so...this guy is also super tall if hes that high above a standard electrical panel O_o
Didn't expect a condemned call out. But it does give that vibe. 👀
This would probably work pretty well in VR, with a slightly altered/improved FOV.
I think the blinking problem goes a bit to much in the ,,sensitive to certain/flashing lights" direction
I easily get headaches from stuff like that if it's to overused...
Other than that, this was REALLY good actually
Hopefully they successfully build on this
It's very disorienting...
It could be too much, yeah
This is genuinely actually extremely well made, when you shoot enemies you can see chunks of them flying off, and the gun actually feels like it’s powerful. the gun sound design isn’t that bad and I get what they were going for with the monsters but I would pay top dollar to see a full game
The most dread inducing thing in this game was the "Saving..." message that briefly appeared. Why did our protag have bloody gloves before engaging? The spray painted directions also make this feel more like a training exercise. It'd be cool if they turned this into a tutorial and expanded on the concept. Edit: I'm thinking Resident Evil Mansion?
More games need an undefeatable rave dancer final boss
It's interesing that the character already had blood on his hands, it's probably nothing but it would be cool if it had some deeper meaning. It felt like some kind of escape room tbh, love the game anyways, same for your comments and gameplay also 8:50 is me playing any horror game. It looked like something like a cop and some homeless, agressive people. Hey, have you ever thought about playing nun masacre (idk if I wrote that right, English isn't mine main language) if you haven't already? I love your content and I think it would be cool to see you get the endings.
he has played it already, and your english is very good dont worry about it
@@Wheatcake thank you, I'll go watch It :))
Your English is great! He played it but didn't manage to finish it
8:48 yooo we have finaly seen manly being jumpscared😂, its quite a rare sight
Some of the enemies sound like the "aaah" meme guy.
8:46 is one of the few times we ever get to see manly jump 😂 that one got me too
He never shot it. Good trigger discipline I see..
@@Reviwitha6 At the same time if the thing was an actual threat, he might have been dead before taking the shot which would be bad.
Even with how good the graphics are, the movement, the sense of dread were perfection, absolutely none of those qualities competes with how he got jiggy wit it.
This was pretty scary, but I didn't expect that hilarious ending.
5:00
me: ahh shoot it!
manly: shoots it
me: thank you
This one's a rarity, you never see Manly get startled like that.😄
honestly this is giving me a lot of condemned criminal origins vibes, very cool.
14:31 thats one way to turn horror into something comedic
They really made the monster so the thriller dance...
love it how you got scared at the mask, it was funny
Love this! Im getting tired of Bootleg Creepy toy jump scares game. This style being me refreshing. 😂
8:46 - Manly was REALLY scared.)))
“There’s a bunch of tall men stalking you”
That’s all I needed to hear
Bro legit started to dance at the end as they got shot LOL that was unexpected
I appreciate a game that makes you use the iron sights
Not gonna lie, every time i watch one of your videos i just think to myself about how of a great voice actor you would be, your voice is honestly great for these videos and in general, just really calm, collected and soothing in a way, doesn't break the games vibe at all but makes it even better instead. Way, way better than staring at pure gameplay and that's it. Love your videos by a lot manly, keep the gaming going.
:D
I like the little hands and other blurs at the edge of your vision-Think it happened 2 or 3 times in this video, first I think at 8:11 , little surprised you didn't mention that detail.
This type of game in VR would be amazing
This is beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing 🙏🏽 I never knew “Hyper-realistic” was a genre in horror.
Really love the style of gameplay that actually gives it a sense of realism. It also gave off some Cry of Fear vibes from the claustrophobic level design to enemy groans you as you get closer. Despite it being just a mod, I hope it'll get a remake one day.
i find the concept of bodycam horror so facinating. i'm looking forward to the future of horror games. keep up the good work and have a good day
i love your video's they always make my day better ty for making awesome content
more bodycam horror. I really like these just for the perspective. Has a found footage "this guy definitely dies" feel
Manly Badass has those old school gamer reflexes.
This was fun! Looking forward to the full release video
Im not usually one to care about graphics primarily, but the graphical quality combined with the perspective and camera effects work very well together.
Holy shit the first jump scare GOT me so bad. I knew it was coming, yet...that audio be loud!
You were talking about Condemned, not Conviction. Unironically the best survival horror game ever made, can highly recommend Condemned for anyone that wants a smart horror game but with a lot of action.
ManlyBadassCop, reporting for duty.
I cannot wait to see the progression of this style of game. I think it will do especially well in horror games, but am also interested to see what other genres this style can play in future games!
4:19 how did he miss that xD
When I played the game, I missed that jumpscare too and the one 5:31 too because it was too fast and it lagged, though i heared it. This game has some really good jumpscares but some are too hidden to notice.
@@userunknown9947 Damn really? not played it myself but it stood out to me like mad. Maybe my paranoia kicking in

This is actually one of the better horror indie games I’ve seen
I've seen some shoddy body-cam horrors lately; this one was well done. Props!
Always appreciate when Manly gets a good jumpscare.
im glad your doing this coz it looks super interesting but too realistic for me!
I really loved the gameplay here, Manly! It did give me some scares here and their! This game is really intense and watching this whole gameplay has now kinda reminds me of Condemned: Criminal Origins!
holy shit manly, you played this so well!
This was incredibly intense. I'm so used to the cute cartoony creepy horror games that made this game very extra.
"condemned" that was a crazy game allright, but one I loved every moment of.
Thanks for the content!
Oh this got me!! 🎉 I feel like this was a test of sorts for them, but i really like it. I could see this as a fully fleshed out game. Devs keep bringing us grade A scares! 🎉
Your up load schedule is very impressive sir.
Ngl, I think the low quality, funny moans are actually scarier than some weird zombie sounds. If I heard that while running, my pants would be full 😂
the last bit with the triller made me spit my drink making me laugh
I'd say this one was tense enough, but the raving hostile at the end just made me laugh.
Never have I been so satisfied to watch game play as manly actually checking his corners
Very soonn graphics will get so good you wont know if it's cgi or real life. Amazing content as always manly!
Man, this was terrifying and I wasn't even playing it 😱 Feels extra fresh cuz most games are retro style now :p
Hey Manly thanks for your content. It really does brighten my day when i see you upload. I was wondering if you would share what specs your comuter runs. This seems like a very demanding game.
I literally just tried this game last night and it was the first to scare me into an adrenaline rush since Alien:Isolation.
Manly! The updated Pocket Mirror got released yesterday!! I think it would be great to see you play again ❤
enjoying ur content !! every new vid is instant click 😁
i like to notice how this game's horror works, it's really interesting. you're set up with the expectation
of there being fake outs with that one decoy before you see an actual threat, you're jumpscared by said
threat twice and then when you continue forward on high alert for another scare, you jump at the decoy.
i've legit only seen this happen to people with one other game, spooky's jumpscare mansion. best horror trope ever.
4:25 head poking around the corner by the chair
I love watching the flicks of when there's a mask in the corner
Dude you actually got scared for first time wich makes this awesome video ALOT more scary
This scared the shit out of me, not gonna lie. I hope the project gets completed because this looks like it could shape up to be really good.
Shheeesh. The close blurred field of vision and shallow depth of field create a reeeallly tense environment.
I actually love everything about this game, and THAT RAVE WAS THE BEAUTIFUL CHERRY ON TOP
