After conquering the Byzantines the Ottoman Sultans took the title of Caesar, established a bureaucracy in the same style of the Byzantine Empire, and tried to rule and govern in the manner of a Roman Emperor. The Ottoman Sultans tried super hard to come across as the inheritors of Rome.

As a history nerd, I can confirm that this is something we’ll just do. For me it’s Chinese/Japanese/Korean/Mongolian history circa 800-1600CE (the most messed up yet interesting time period imo) and I’d talk nonstop for literally an entire WEEK if anyone gives me the chance.
