For those of us that have frequent issues with their power delivery (here in Ontario we call it hydro) I can highly recommend to purchase a 550 watt UPS with a battery protection. The PS5 can remain in sleep mode on the UPS as it drops down to about 50-70 watt consumption (same as a lightbulb). I have all my expensive devices on UPS and once we lose power they will remain running for a reasonable amount of time (10 minutes to one hour, depending on the UPS). It is worth it and some even come with a guarantee, I have never had to use it.
Having a UPS Battery Back-up is a great idea. It also, helps with Undervolts, Overvolts Plus Power Spikes.
Vince is brilliant, I've really enjoyed watching him fight the Rolls Royce recently.
And to whoever unsubbed, how the hell does Phil fix shit by guess work?
It's visual and voltage inspection, is he meant to use some sixth sense or only post things once he found the fault off camera like others do for certain on RUclips.
Cracking fix Phil, mental how many of these consoles you are fixing, my son has one thats coming up to a year old, I have a feeling you'll be seeing it at some point tbh.

If they unsubscribed because you use too much guesswork they're just ignorant.
99% Of initial diagnosis is guesswork ( albeit educated guesswork but the point stands )
you have to guess at the cause of the issue to even have a starting point to repair ANYTHING.
I'm an Auto / Diesel Technician with 30+ years of experience and went to college for it ( aka university in Europe )
The entire point of getting an experienced technician is that they have likely seen most issues and will be more able to guess what is causing the issue you are having which would save time and money for diagnosis.
EVERY TECHNICIAN HAS TO TAKE A GUESS AT THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE TO BEGIN THE DIAGNOSTIC PROCESS.

Think every console has its strengths and flaws. The 360 in my opinion was the worst. Mine burned to the ground.
First PS 3 sounded like a vacuum.
I got a system like this 12v short had a similar issue with a hole in it. However whome ever attempted repair before pretty much destroyed the system. Used thermal paste everywhere and it was missing parts aswell as had a destroyed psu. Ebayer claimed it was sent to a shop ofc however I have other feelings on this. System remains dead on my bench to this day.

Regarding the fuses and capacitors; when there's no access to a donorboard, are they available anywhere else? I checked your store, ALiExpress and a few other retailers but no luck..
You can buy the caps on digikey and mouser, and the fuses too, but I'm not sure on the value. I'll figure out what's needed tomorrow and try and order some in :)

ehy there! I’ve got this exact issue right now,I tried turning my ps5 on this morning and it just emitted a beep and that’s it? Is there any way to fix it without thanking the console apart??

My PS5 froze and turned off on me and had a single beep with no light last week. I would have sent it to warranty service, but disconnecting the power for half an hour fixed it in my case. Not sure if that's lucky or not, because my warranty expires in about 6 months.
Yeah that sounds like it just maybe had a little surge and the built in protection actually did its' job. Good stuff
That's a common overheating problem. some ps5's are worse than others. i send mine back for a replacement because it happened about 5 times in a month and i got sick of it. i believe they have changed the fans on the newer models now.
I had the same issue..but after it been fixed..a bluetooth connection issue apeared..so the controller wont connect more than one feet from the console

Microsoft caught Sony out with the timing of the release of the Series X. Sony was way behind in the Q&A and rushed to get a serviceable console out. No wonder so many are failing and hence the very unSony like design
Yeah that sounds about right, which is why the Xbox is so solid compared to the PS5
My ps5 got zapped from I assume the tv. Tv is dead along with everything that was connected to it. Ps5 only beeps like this one, 12v coming from the power supply is good. Then I noticed the encoder chip is reading grounded. Could this be my power issue?
pretty much in all diagnosis is guess work as an auto tech no all problems can be ran to one solution one problem may be causing other systems to fail from another component you just replaced

Hi Phil, I have watched every PS5 fixes of yours amazing works. My PS5 just bricked with long pulse BLOD after one green screen of death.
I sent it to Sony and they would charge me a cost higher than buying a new one. I have done some research and it might be a faulty APU, which is unfixable now.
In this case, is it worth to get them to the repair shop. Would it be possible that this is not caused by APU?

I would take it to a repair shop to be honest. The green screen of death is normally caused by a bad encoder or bad ram, so you'd probably need to send it somewhere with the ability to reball and replace the ram if necessary or someone with good fault finding skills. I wouldn't just replace it before sending it somewhere to try and get it fixed. Hopefully you have some good luck with this one

Repair in essence is deduction - you start where it is a logical one … no power: is there power where it is supposed to go
Please help EDM 020. I get one beep on the power button ever now and then but nothing else.
Took it apart and checked 12v and that was fine. Checked 5v on the F7002 and its there but the output seems to be grounded from this video Cod3r says it should be 1.8v on the 020 board. When I turn the 12v supply on it goes to 30a then drops back after a few seconds.
I have made a post on TheCod3r Discord so hoping someone can help me from either here or there.
I am not sure where to go from here anyone help please?

Hey Phil, is ps5 that bad, I have had mine for a year now, and no issues touch wood.....
In saying that I don't bash up USB ports and HDMI ports I am good with my shit.
Also, I will clean the fan and stuff here and there.
Also in storms and unplug HDMI and power even tho I have a surge protection power board they have failed me in the past.
It's not that they're bad per se, it's more that instead of just waiting to push more out they cheaped out on parts like capacitors so they could fulfil orders

meanwhile my ps4 fom 2014 is still going strong yes the ps4 had thie own set of problems also but the ps5 takes the piss. so glad i didnt bother getting one and i wont be getting one.
Yeah the PS4 did have its' problems but nothing like this in terms of cheap components and terrible circuit designs

It can be quite difficult to figure out to be honest, especially since we don't have schematics available for these things. Without looking myself it would be pretty hard to pinpoint your particular issue, but I'm happy to give it a try if you need me to :)
@@TheCod3r you are a god amongst men man. I’ve been stressing so bad. And this ps5 is one my fav possessions. Got it with the invitation to Sony to buy it. Life has kicked me in the ass. My car ac went out. My house got hit by lightning and we have been trying to get everything back together. But this ps5 situation hurts my heart.

@mikeykane5938 it could be a number of things really bud. Soke of them die because of a power surge, others can just be random component failure. A lot of components on electronics have a finite life span, but Sony just like other manufacturers seem to use cheap low quality components such as capacitors, and they fail sooner than expected unfortunately :(

All I see on RUclips is people randomly testing MOSFETs and capacitors for shorts, then "out with the thermal camera" to look for the overheating component.

Design wise, it really does. But games look nice and it generally runs them well. Just a shame they have many problems.
Yeah I have to agree, in terms of power it's great, and as long as they don't end up with these issues they can be great, but too many cheap parts and a rushed console ruin it for Sony

I would subscribe if you put advisory at least on all the video that you cuss on. So I can avoid them. But if you say too many video with cuss words I would think your deliberately put out land mines. I could be wrong as if the video is against community guidelines. Some people don't want to listen to it. Otherwise nothing against your abilities as tech or some of the teaching.
My videos are raw mate, sorry, but these videos aren't aimed at children, my average audience is 24-40 years old. If they can't handle a few swear words here and there then my videos probably aren't for those people

Mine has literally JUST done this Phil at 8 months old, just started to download Diablo 4 at a cost of 69.99 as it was downloading the playstation just shut off and now when I press the power button it just beeps once and thats all no lights no power nothin, these literally are the worst consoles playstation have ever created
