My bonsai started shedding its leaves once when i covered it just like that with moss. It almost died by the time i was investigating whats wrong with and then at last after trying everything, i just removed the moss and then three days later, it started showing signs of life.

No, the tree actually has so much room for new roots and the foliage will be reduced significantly next year
