Johnson ended more than half of england player's career in this ashes series which includes Jonathan trott, Ian bell, Kevin Peterson, Matt prior, Tim bresnan, Monty panesar, Gream swann. It was something which world has never seen before. Such a horrible nights for english men. Legend for a reason. M. Johnson will be go down as one of the most furious fast bowler of all time along with the likes of Shoaib akhtar, B lee, S bond, D steyn.

Pace on true australian wickets is a horror show. If the batting team is technically inept, even more so. Combine this with an out an out fast bowler on top of his game and you have a recipe for disaster. The last time this happened in a marquee series is the 2013-14 ashes. That's why Johnson is remembered. Test cricket top performances are always remembered. This is a message the young generation must understand.

Yeah bro. I grew up in the Warne/McGrath era. I was in my mid 20’s for this. I remember seeing a customer at the start of the series and saying, this is going to be a painful series. Then big Mitch single handedly brought England to its knees. It wasn’t the wickets, it was the spells. Every ball he bowled was dangerous. I have never seen a single bowler break a team like Mitch did. He won that series for us with his intensity and aggression, and the fielding was amazing too

Agreed. I guess that’s why we loved Lillee and Thomson at their peak, then followed by the Windies pacemen straight after.
Watching terrifying fast bowling is truly compelling. It makes grown men go to water. The fact that Kevin Pietersen talks about sitting at the Gabba waiting to bat, thinking he might be killed just about sums it up.

The cherry on top of this series was the Barmy Army starting the Gabba test with a series of songs about "wayward Mitchell Johnson" and various sledges about how random he had been in previous series. "Super Mitchell Johnson" was satire on the first day - he came out and smashed a 50 with the bat and then destroyed England with the ball for 5 tests. The Barmy Army put half of their song sheets away after Day 2 at the Gabba, and never spoke a word of them for the rest of the series.

I still think the ball he bowls Alastair Cook with is one of the best balls I've seen bowled for a while. That and the one Ryan Harris gets the same guy with, two absolute belters.

You got to give a big shout out to the Barmy Army for firing him up. He never forgot & reminded them of it, especially Sydney. For once they were at a loss of voice when he went to them holding up 5-0 with his hands. That was gold!
To their credit, they nearly all stood up and clapped him in acknowledgment.

Mitch Johnson showed real aggression adn speed in that series. He had to , after previous series where he was timid. He brought the heat adn absolutely decimated the poms in that series.
I hadn't seen anything like it before then, and nothing like it since.
Truly one of the great bowling performances of the modern era.

The Broad wickets were the best. Everyone still hated him this series for not walking last Ashes, then he came on, fussed with the site screen and tried to slow the game down and ended up getting bowled first ball, then got yorked on the feet twice, once so hard he broke his toe. So good.

By far & away the most enjoyable Ashes series I've seen since first watching them in 1982-83 (from an Australian fan that is!) Great team work from an unheralded team. Great bowling from a much maligned bowler. We had a team of champions beforehand throughout the 90s & 00s but this ashes provided more enjoyment than all those prior. (Only my opinion of course!)
