  • This was an H-Street demo from the late 80's featuring Ron Allen and Matt Hensley. It was put on by Bikes Unlimited. The venue was New London Skateworld, just outside of Lynchburg, Va. Rad demo! I remember a few of us going out later with Matt Hensley. We went to a Pizza Hut and they wouldn't serve us for some reason. We then proceeded to have a flatland session in their parking lot. Having a low key flatland sesh with Hensley was a childhood dream. Dude was super chill. Good times!

Man, I remember this. I was there. The launch 'Hicktown' was pretty perfect. We kept all of this at the church off Campbell Ave. Remember Dave? Older guy with the glasses, opened the church for us to skate, lived right up the street? Chad, Craig Kossel, John Sheffey, . . . Good times

Some of the best times of life were skating in the late 80s. In 89 I got sponsored from boardwalk boards in VA. Got 2 free decks a month and some other stuff..but I thought I was big shit back then..then I ruined everything over a girl i stoped skating everyday .and that was it for skateboarding... That was the mistake I have ever made...so if anyone's is reading this keep doing what you love don't quit over some chick

Cool you got to hang with him! I always wished they had done a demo in Detroit because I had a cousin who was ridiculously good at the time... basically anything those guys were doing he would just learn it, within a couple days. And he was the guy who started riding H-Street boards when me and my dumb friends had no idea and would only ride Powell because that's all we knew. I figured if the H-Street team ever rolled through town they would pick up my cousin as an Am or even Pro rider. He was really good. Then when he turned 16 and got a car... he just stopped skating. It was always so strange to me he never pursued it. If he had put effort into it lots of teams would have picked him up. Anyway, that's my uninteresting story about my cousin... LOL

My dad thought when I was 16 I'd quit skating because I'd have a car and be able to go more places. Yeah, to more skate spots, dummy. I'm in my 40's now and I never stopped (outside of injuries). Matter of fact if it wasn't raining right now I'd be trying to film a trick.

I remember Godfather's Pizza told us they didnt want us coming in anymore. We would come in to take a break from the heat. We played video games, bought cheese bread and all you can drink soda. I guess he didnt like the fact that we actually took advantage off all you can drink( but we only had like 2 or 3 a piece). But mainly skater hate. Haha.

I've tried to explain to my son how much skaters were outsiders then. I was skating every day late 80's-early 90's & people did not want to know.

@@andreabordoni2665 No worries, I started in the early 90's when skating was literally dead. Plan B Questionable was my favorite video(might still be)...My boards were mostly Popsicle sticks, but prior to that I had a few old ass boards that were shaped that we used for butt boarding....not really skating as we know it, just fun little kid stuff. The energy drink thing is controversial....personally I only drink water or beer, but those energy drink companies do pay to keep some of our favorite skaters going and not have to find a second job/retire

what is the name of the trick Matt does at 1:32? its like a pop shuvit tail grab but he vairals it the rest of the rest of the way around to make it a full 360° spin. ive heard it called a tailwhip but he grabs kinda crail so could it be a crailwhip?
