- Pour l'une des plus grosses soirées indoor de l'histoire de Grenoble, le vétéran Merv Pepler, sous son projet Eat Static, est venu nous donner un aperçu de son univers, situé bien au fond de l'espace. Quelques heures avant de livrer un live psy-trance qui a marqué les esprits, l'alien anglais faisait monter la température avec un live psy-techno qui a su faire son effet. En voici la preuve.

Who is still vibing to this track in 2022 ?
Their best track IMO. Watched them live in Frome in 1993 with the glowing brain. Never forgotten it. Good to see young French audience appreciating this music instead of hip hop. Keep it alive.

Band of the 90s for me with no doubt.
Saw them in the dance tent at glasto 95 on mushrooms and it rewrote my whole soul.
Saw them again a few times then at glasto again in 2004 in the lost vagueness and that was the most epic performance from them I've ever seen.
It was so epic I completely lost myself in the music and other than the gig stage brain being back and a girl with an alien in her backpack in front of me and it being crazy busy I have little recollection except it was earth shatteringly epic and excellent and the best performance that festival.

love how merv is tweaking (slowly) on that rack (so-hot-you-could-fry-an-egg) unit there and simultaneously tweaking a separate small dial on the other mixing (? or effects assigned to it) board... the man certainly knows what he is doing for live application... wow
i think the unit at the top of the rack is a ROLAND DIGITAL DELAY set to 1000's of a second, i have one too, and that guy there is tweaking it and it's impressive, if he had access to the back of it you can further tilt the speeds up so it literally sounds like a flying saucer taking off on it... and you CAN fry an egg on it, literally... nice!!!

Fuck I love this group, I just randomly stumbled upon them by someone online recommending their Implant album and been hooked ever since. They're really head and shoulders above their peers.
He is such an freak love him one of the only who did a semi live act not like the most pushing just play on their laptop and send some effects
well i dont know what you think what he is doing there, but he turns the knobs on the analog desk 24/7, which has absolutely no effect on the music because the mixer is not even in use.
the usual commercial freak show where somebody pretends to "play" something.
It is more closed to DJeing than a real live , all the tracks are done at home and he press "play" and simulates whith his mixer to turn buttons etc... , but for me these lives acts are fake.How he plays whith his mixtape to simulate the cutoff of the tb303 is just ridiculous.The real player is called Ableton live.Any techno/electro live whithout a synths samplers or a drum machines are definitively not lives .A 5 YO kid also can press "start".

Cada sonido sale por cada canal de esa consola ....por ejemplo bombo canal 1, hi hat canal 2 , sytetizadores ,bajos etc... En pocas palabras va grabando mezclando realmente en vivo no como los demás dj's que la pista completa sale por cada deck

This is why I stopped buying Eat Static records after they produced Contact. They were just repeating beats and sounds with no real musical/dance purpose. It was ultra commercial
