- Sharing my latest completed sketchbook (slash art journal slash scrapbook). This is a pocket sized Royal Talens Art Creation sketchbook with pink cover. Filled with spiritual slash book of shadows art, and tons of abstract paintings. Lmk what you think! And thank you for watching, commenting, subscribing, and all that good stuff ❤️
Two main insights I had while completing this sketchbook and making the video:
1) my issues with authority are so pervasive that I even have issues with my own authority. I don’t like being told what to do, or how to do it.
2) abstract art captures the fleeting moment - that moment in time that is there and then gone forver, never to be repeated. That’s what abstract art is to me.
Supplies used:
Art Color Cube
Royal Talens Art Creation sketchbook
holbein and daniel smith gouache
holbein and turner acrylic gouache
watercolors
prismacolor and derwent drawing colored pencils

I learn so much from you about different paints and techniques. I am so new to this so thank you for the videos. I watch them all!
Oh I’m so happy to hear that! I love that my videos are helpful, that’s always my main goal. Please lmk if you ever have any questions or want me to demonstrate any products or techniques!
Issues with one's own authority...I needed to hear it phrased like that. I'll often experience the same phenomenon, where some part of me needs to contravene my internal decisions or public statments. Thanks for being vulnerable on that, you helped me tonight. Also, quite impressive that you filled that sketchbook in so little time.
Thank you for sharing! Makes me feel less alone about sharing it online lol It’s definitely something I need to work on. But thank you for watching and commenting 🥰
great art as always friend! ❤❤
Thank you for always being so encouraging and supportive!!
I really love the abstract pieces you created! Beautiful sketchbook! 😊💖
Thank you so much! I’m so new to abstract art so that really means a lot 🥰
Hullo Ela, I enjoyed seeing your actual working sketchbook! So many sketchbook tours are a compendium of art done so fine that it simply cannot be an actual working sketchbook! I was taught to use work books for compiling ideas for a given project and I used watercolor books and larger mixed media books to put all of the ideas down so I could keep everything for the project together. I have only ever had 1 sketchbook and it was from a drawing class in college, It had a lot of very junky drawings and parts of drawings that I simply did not finish! I like your vision and I hope you do turn some of these ideas into larger finished paintings!
Thank you! And yes, I’ve been thinking of the sketchbooks as just places to practice various skills, try out color palettes and ideas I’m not sure about, and in general experiment and see what I enjoy. They’re definitely not finished artworks, but I try to make them complete enough that they’re useful and I can learn something from the experience. And also ideas of course for larger pieces. Although I doubt I would ever do a larger finished artwork that’s purely abstract art. Maybe I would try to incorporate some elements of abstract art into finished pieces though. Thank you for the comment ❤️
Great video!
Thank you 🙏
