played for 4o years not on their plane, had stroke 5 years ago ,can't hold guitar anymore . but boy thy are wearing my fingers out as i am trying to move them.GOD BLESS U GUY'S. HOPE TO PLAY AGAIN WITH GOD'S TOUCH. I BELIEVE
I keep waiting for someone to mention a song they don't all know, it is totally amazing that all four of them are playing in perfect harmony in different positions on the neck and if they make any mistakes I can't catch them and they go from one song to another without a problem and remember who wrote it, performed it and what style it was in. If I could play as well as any of them I would go out on my front lawn and play all day just to amaze my neighbors.
Several years ago I got to see Richard in a tiny venue in a tiny town in sw Oklahoma. There was a little sit down pot luck style dinner before the show put on by the local geetar store, and I was fortunate enough to sit right by Richard and his wife. They are truly nice folks, and unbelievably humble. I’m still in awe of everyone in this video!
Some of the best music in the world tucked away on you tube when it should be exposed to the masses on prime time tv instead of all these shite so called talent? shows. The TVs companies have a lot to answer for.
A few masters getting together from different continents yet are able to converge on similar songs that represent their musical tastes. Every one of them deserves to be there. A joy to listen to.
Someone asked me once how my partner and I just seem to know where the other is going when we play. Tried to explain its like a language we use when we let our guitars talk to each other. These guys have mastered the art
Great group of musicians, but Tommy really shines. All and all they all make wonderful contributions. Can’t seem to find any Amazon Prime music by Richard Smith which is a shame.
These guys are incredible. It’s my biggest pet peeve to have amazing musicians and people talking in the back ground. What could they be talking about?
How is it possible to not enjoy these guys playing guitar together? All of them are great musicians and together you have all the surviving greats! Sorry Chet, Jerry and Roy couldn't be there to join in!
I'd have bet anything that a bunch of Englishmen would never have even heard the Bakersfield sound, much less been able to play it. Great tribute to the great Don Rich and Buck.
2:01 "euh hmm" (little intro lick)... Tommy's mind ("ah yeah" 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4) : BAM ! Figures out the grid and melody theme one shot... they jam... so nice... they work a bit the ending lick... At the end Tommy saying : Never actualy played that song but used to listen to it a lot on that live album... Me : O_O ! That's what you call knowing your guitar ! Like all the music is already in the fingers and is just asking to come out... And Richard is so solid at harmony and improvisation all along. La crème de la crème ici ! Can't believe my ears. So good :D !
I hope my old folk's home is as cool as this. That guy in the white shirt is the unsung hero. You get the feeling he's that rhythm guitarist that could nail anything else anyone did but he's just happy sit there and strum along with his friends. Edit: hold up, I'm at 6:15 in this video. It's official, they could all play circles around me.
so now I'm heading off to do a deep dive on Tommy Emmanuel. Anyone care to tell me the OTHER guys in the frame? [edit] (Left to Right): Richard Smith, Michael Fix, Stuie French and Tommy Emmanuel
At 78 years old, I'finally figured out the 2 things I'm doing wrong...1/ I'm using my 'right' leg for the beat, and 2/ I just ain't that good....But totally overjoyed at watching this !
And these men will have you believe they're only into music. But these are indeed wealthy men, brimming over with diverse knowledge. Just look into the four pairs of eyes and it's evident.
I can't believe it "The Buckeroo" I hadn't heard that in 40-50 years but I recognized it instantly. Probably composed by Don Rich of Buck Owen's Buckeroos.
Funny that most videos that are broken up in sections have fewer and fewer views as the sections move along. Began with 2.5 million, down to 187,000 Short attention span theater.
PS: I'm glad they're not youths, especially the man on the left side, otherwise after playing such awesome lead at the end, he'd have brought down his guitar box on his companion's head. And then what should've been a splinter-free ending to a piece of delightful music will quickly turn into an exciting brawl.
I got to see him and the Cello Lady at a small venue in Nachitoches, LA. A chance occurance but what a treat. I hope they ask him and the lady back this year. Nachitoches Folk Festival, great fun!!
@@davidmorse8432 I'm so jealous. It's a lifelong dream of mine to see him. If I spent half the time actually practicing as I do watching him I'd be a better player, but I'm so in awe of him and how he plays.
Someone tell me which scales and chords are these legends playing? It sounds amazing... I want to play them on my guitar. Or any familiar songs which take me closer to this music?
It's remarkable how each of them just "fall" into place on every song...
Yeah...Absolutely top class..!! 👍😊

78 years later in my life and a musical jam like this brings happiness and love's blessings to my heart. Ty!
it is impossible to watch this without a big smile on my face
U got me ahaha

Who needs a drummer to keep time when you have a left leg lol. These guys are monster musicians with encyclopedic knowledge of music history.
Damn i really want to have a group of friends like this when im older.
It is heavenly to listen such beautiful tapestry of music making by 4 amazingly gifted skillful passionate guitarists. Gifts from God.
You will be very fortunate if you do!! GOOD LUCK!

Astounded there are people chatting in the background instead of listening. This is sublime.
This music just feeds my soul.
Buckaroo, the song Don Rich made famous on a Telecaster. And these guys are mastering it on acoustics.
That's talent

the best youtube series I have ever witnessed
no such thing as an inferior instrument in those hands. a tennis racket would sound good.
this makes my heart sing
How do you even get as good these guys? If I even had a quarter of their talent I would be happy. God I need to practice
All I could do while watching was smile and shake my head in disbelief. True Musicians...
Me: sitting there with my guitar... palm muting all my strings as I FAKE IT. 🤔
No doubt you are now a better guitar player although I too cannot play a single thing they are playing they give me ideas of what to practice

Probably a century or more of combined experience going on there. Wow.
Tommy un-pockets a pick awesomeness ensues. On to part 5.
The ol Buckaroo - one of my all time favorites, especially the Clarence White version! These dudes are so awesome and happy. A joy to listen to these.
