Most Liverpool fans are eternally grateful to Coutinho for leaving for such a hefty transfer fee. That dosh paved the way for Van Dijk and Alisson. The rest is history.
Ultimately Liverpool would not have won the premier league or champions league without his departure
As peak as it sounds its true 😂
It wasn't a mistake, he was warned about leaving but, ignored those warnings
Yes. I still miss him though. Such a good player. Why would a player like Coutinho, a confidence player, leave a club like Liverpool - where the fans are really supportive, patient and will stick with you if you’re struggling - to join Barcelona, where they will turn on you if you’re not on it every minute of every game?
@@FieldIcons LFC would’ve won’t it another way under Klopp
Everyone who left under Klopp fell apart elsewhere. Shows what a great manager he is.
I agree Nonna, you think of where Mane, and Wijnaldum ended up.
Suarez?
@@ianworley8169 Suarez wasn't sold my Jurgen Klopp. If he played under Klopp, I'm sure he would've had another year at Liverpool.
@ianworley8169 klopp joined liverpool 2015 and Suarez joined barcelona 2014.thanks bye
Stay here, and you'll be a legend! Leave, and you'll just be another player! Klopp wasn't lying.
How I miss our Bobby lad😊 most humble
Who do you miss more, Bobby or Sadio?
@@FieldIconsBobby
Bobby
He was the best that wasn’t the best. He chased his dream and it was a nightmare. I feel for this guy as a Liverpool fan
Very nice way to put it! In the EPL, when you are playing well, the media makes you believe that you are the best!
I agree, but sometimes you have to take a leap of faith
His Liverpool spell such joy & beauty💯 should've won title in one of the seasons
Which season do you think they came closest ?
Styles of play, formations used, and relationships with teammates and coaches all play significant roles in the making of a player. Messi was a god in the Barcelona system but just another player in the Argentina setup. Salah was an EPL flop with Chelsea, but is a legend at Liverpool. Coutinho moved to a system and style that KILLED his career.
Very well said !
Well I wouldn’t say Messi was just another player at Argentina.
I’d say he was more or less just another player at PSG.
I was very devastated when he left. I have never seen a player who is not only talent but he had a technique something so special. Who can forget the long shot against Arsenal. Because of his transfer fee, Liverpool was able to buy 2 very great goalkeeper and a defender which I am very happy with. But I still miss him, along with Mane, Origi and, Farminho. Good old exciting days….
Stay and they'll build a statue for you, go and you'll just be another number...
J Klopp
Prophetic words...be careful what you wish for....
Hi Marcus, it’s true. Do you think Coutinho regrets his move to Barcelona?
@@FieldIcons Only when he retires will it hit him, the money would have cushioned any guilt but he knows deep down his move to Barcelona (where I currently live) was really the beginning of the end as it turned out.
He had 4 top years at Liverpool amd maybe that was his peak, he certainly never showed anything of it at Barca, then again a certain Messi dominated the landscape at that time.
Giving Coutinho that 5-year deal was one of the best moves Liverpool have ever made! It made Arcelona hurt in the wallet.
Anyway, at the time, Coutinho fit perfectly to Liverpool and Klopp -style. Whilst I´m very happy for the transfer, it would be interesting to see what kind of player he would´ve become in an alternative universe where he´d stayed (wanted to stay, really) with Liverpool.
This edit is absolutely awful. Random shots of Southampton training, shots of random youth Brazilian footballers that aren’t Coutinho, the teams not matching what the narrator is talking about, the same clip repeated over and over. Awful awful edit
He is a number 10. When he signed for Barca they had quite a good one already.
Hi Tony, do you think if he had more opportunity to play things might’ve been different?
@@FieldIcons If 10 is his best position and he hardly ever plays there then he cannot be at his best.He needs to play at 10 to give his best..
Coutinho could’ve been Ballon d’or if he stayed at Liverpool instead he followed his desire or his obsession to play with Messi.
We all know how that unfolded .
Such a waste !!!!
If he stayed, do you think Liverpool would have still won a champions league and premier league ?
@@FieldIcons yes Sir , that is what I said , he could’ve been ballon d’or if he stayed .
What a waste.
We decided to sell him when Barca offered £150 million-
@@RaidersDnB well then , now you’ve got Munez who hits the post 4 times a week for half the that price.
@@muhashevliw8111 we bought van dijk and Allison with that money … and then got won the champions league (after being in two finals in a row)
None of these players that left off during the Koop era have gone on to do great things, the grass isn’t always greener.
What makes you think that?
@@FieldIcons because it’s evident. Look at those who have left in that time frame and what they’ve gone on to do…
@@ThrottleBody it’s true, I think Mane was sad to see, as he is still a great player
@@FieldIcons
Mane, Wijnaldum, Emre Can, Sakho, to name a few. Never reached the heights they did at Liverpool and were not adored as much either. The Liverpool fans are good and loyal to players - very rarely turning on them. It seems like a good environment to play in.
I remember Crouch saying that even though he didn’t score in his first forty plus appearances, (if I remember correctly) the fans never turned on him. They supported him throughout.
@@stanettiels7367 emre can is doing pretty good as captain for Dortmund plus minamino is doing ecxeptional as well with 21 goal constributions in 42 games
ik its only 2 players but still
Klopp told him, "Stay, and they will build you a statue, you will be a God, go to barca and you will be just another player." The rest is history. Klopp won everything, and his statue is on its way. Sadly, Coutinhos will never be built. What a player he was, but the grass isn't always greener 😂
Hi Joe, it is true; the grass isn’t always greener. Would you have stayed or taken the chance to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world…
@FieldIcons At the time I would have recognised klopps genuis I'd like to think. I get your point, at the time barca was a successful club as well as a giant. Now they are a sleeping giant. Where as Liverpool have been to 3 out of the last 7 CL finals and won the league and multiple cups. I reckon lots of other players had the chance to leave, but stayed because they recognised klopps genius and what he would do. Simple facts are Liverpool have achieved so much more than barca from then to now. So I get your point. But actually if you think about it, klopp was right, barca played coutinho out of position and ruined his prime years because they had messi. Only one player is allowed the free role and not to track back, and that was messi. What did coutinho think was going to happen, he was never going to take messis place. So he was going to one of the biggest clubs in the world to sit on the bench or play out of position and be asked to run back and tackle etc. Where as at liverpool he would have started every game. He should have been smart enough to work this out IMO
So many South American players think Madrid or Barca is the Holy Grail, but it can be a grave yard for their careers.
I agree; but don’t you think turning down Real or Barca is easier said than done? Especially as a lot of people only dream of playing for those clubs growing up
@@FieldIcons I agree, but we’ve seen so many gifted players make the jump and their careers nose-dived.
isco was thought to have similar fate but boy bounced back with most ever MVP record in Laliga with mid table team Real Betis breaking CR7 record
The way he forced himself out of LFC...faking injuries..greed makes his own dwnfall...
Which injuries did he fake?
@@FieldIcons knee I think, which was in summer
He sure did force himself out, good riddance.
Honestly, I forgot how much I remember loving the Coutinho Era LFC. We won fuck all, but Surez, Sturrige, Llalana, plus Daniel Agger was still there for a bit I think. We signed Rickie fricken Lambert at one point. Dude was boss for us. It was a wild ride, and yes his departure helped Liverpool become a dominant force again. I still call any curler from the top left of the box a Coutinho Special
Hi Stuart, this comment had me rolling back the years. Coutinho’s departure was definitely a big help when you look at all that Klopp won with the new signings. I find it interesting how at the time of his departure, all Liverpool fans felt as though the club was doomed for more years of failure, only for the club to have the best 9 years in its history !
This channel has potential but you should really try get the visuals to match what you are saying and show us visually his stats and contributions.
keep going!
You need to change the video editor, watching Southampton train has nothing to do with Coutinho. Many topics talked about isn’t related to the clips shown, like talking about his journey as a teenager still in Brazil with videos of him in Bayern and Liverpool. Great content but visual needs work. All the best and really looking forward to see the growth of the channel. All the best my friend
Hi Salem, I really appreciate your feedback. Is there any specific content you would like to see?
@@FieldIcons unknown facts about sports men, any sport nothing specific. Thank you 🙏
He was a great player for Liverpool. His head was turned, and that was that. I hold no grudge against him. Players will leave Liverpool in the future too, and you can't hold onto that much hate.
Mascherano and Suarez both left for Barcelona but have the backing, mostly. It's just a normal football story.
Hi Derek, you have a great point. And as a player it must not be easy to turn it down when Barcelona come knocking
Coutinho was magic at times at Liverpool. He was the creative spark of the team and everybody trusted him. It was a terrible mistake to leave. He would have been an Anfield legend and won all the big trophies. At Barca and Bayern, he won medals as a bit part player.
You have a good point, do you think he looks back and wishes he didn’t make the move?
Klopp was right again, he told him he would be just another player in Barca. But some things can only be experienced. There's also an interesting twist to Coutinho story in that he finally win a league and UCL albeit in loan with Bayern. But really I'm also curious what can be if he didn't leave Liverpool.
Hi Junior, great comment. I think him winning the UCL with Bayern would definitely have made up for it, do you think he would have been sad to miss out on winning a premier league title?
@@FieldIcons Idk, but definitely he had some regrets leaving. And as much as what he achieved with Bayern, there would be different feeling when doing it as starter. But who can tell it would be this way. I also thought he would be a hit for Barca, that Liverpool would be greatly weakened by his departure. Now ofc we know it's the exact opposite. I'd honestly would love to hear from the man himself what he thought about hia career.
Coutinho worst decision is moving to fc Barcelona
Where do you think he should have gone?
at times was so good for villa,,, after grealish left at times he was great to watch but injuries killed him,, every time you thought he was back he got clattered and emery gave up in the end,,, i wished we could have kept him but injuries to mings and buendia meant we needed replacements and the money was just not there you felt,,, i loved watching him,,,
Hi David, well said. Imagine his goal at the end of the season at Villa won it for Liverpool
Also ruined Barca as a club. Their madness spending left their club penless.
Hi John, I agree. It is probably the reason why they are where they are
Coutinho was just a symptom of a bigger malaise, the decisions from the top are the real problem.
As a Liverpool supporter I was gutted he left. But having taken the time to process everything, I realised we owe him a lot.
Everyone has a dream, a wish, a fantasy etc!
Most South American footballers want to play in Spain, predominantly in Madrid and Barcelona.
Luis Suarez and Coutinho never hid the fact they wanted to play for Barcelona.
I would have loved to have seen both of them stay at Liverpool, but they had their own dreams to fulfil.
Therefore who are we to deny them the same freedom to chase after their goals?. Coutinho leaving meant we could sign the backbone of the team that won 8 trophies!
I'm saddened that he never managed to fulfil his dream move like Suarez has done years earlier.
his role as a football player has never fallen. even he has won a lot of cup n trophies. but what is a problem for him is, making the decision to leave LFC. wherever he went, he never felt happy. it's more of a sense of emptiness. Thats the biggest mistake he does while others is very happy to play with Liverpool.
Countinho’s days are over he has everything a fallen player has
Sad is he never recovered from thatr back injury
Do you think this was the main reason for his downfall?
Amazing player
And I actually think there's an 'Anfield Curse' to these things.
Check, any player that leaves anfield without fans' blessings rarely do well subsequently. Their best days often remain at Liverpool. Same with Torres.
Interesting and informative video, but disjointed footage-voiceover pairing.
Which part?
The club jersey more often than not didn't match Coutinho's time with the team bein spoken about
@@mrwhiteyo8934 thank you for your feedback, we will work on this in the future

Hi Shai, thank you for your feedback. Any other comments?
Hope his back has finally healed 😅
i'm sure he's crying right now in his million dollar mansion
He may financially happy, but do you think he wishes things went differently?
This guy is never consider how he can play well at liverpool. That is because he become liverpool core so all the ball will get into his leg and he choice to do what ever with the ball, want to pass it shoot or drible but in barcelona he job become to serve messi
Do you think another club would have been better for him?
@@FieldIcons depending on the club. If he move to barcelona and real madrid at that time is same like digging his own grave. If he want trophy then bayern is best choice because at that time bayern is playing as one team not one player domination
For me, he too overestimated his ability to want compete with messi. When come to barcelona with messi in his prime then it means you will become messi servant. Look what happen to neymar, the prince who never can become a king
Klopp literally gave him the green light and wanted to make him the a hub of the midfield, he dumbly choose Barcelona, its the old chicken and egg argument now isn't it?
You have a point. But I guess he would have never known what would happen when he finally reached Barcelona
mistake no greed yes happy he left
Really enjoyed this😊
Lovely presentation but some of the pronunciations were 😬
Brendan Rodgers made him. He was being played as a backup striker.
I knew Barcelona was going to destroy his career. At Liverpool the team was built around him and we all knew he would fail there

Then we sold him when Barca offered £150 million the following season
I think he was overshadowed by Messi, which is unfortunate

I think you, as an Arsenal fan suddenly think your team is a step up from Liverpool. Deluded. Liverpool have CL and PL winning credibility in the last decade and Klopp is a better manager than Arteta. Klopp makes world class players unless you've forgotten.
Lol. What r u smokin?
He's so overrated. Flopped at mediocre Inter, was pretty good for above mediocre Liverpool, but wasn't even an automatic starter when the team started to do better prior his transfer to Barca.
