I had a dream that I had a baby named Jupiter and my 4 year old daughter had the same dream on the same night. We spent all summer watching Jupiter move around the sky and then I ended up unexpectedly pregnant. This is my fifth child and Jupiter is the 5th planet so I decided that this baby will be named Jupiter. Recently I've found that Jupiter is in my 12th house. I feel like the universe is trying to tell me something.

It is quite interesting that the ancients labeled Jupiter as the great benefic. We know by modern Astronomy that without Jupiter, our Earth would not be able to be as Safe as it is now. Because of Jupiters proximity and it's massive gravity pull it is able to deflect a lot asteroids and comets from Earth's path. Modern Astronomers are searching for Star systems with a Jupiter like Planet to look for another life-harboring planet.

I am in total agreement with you, Ryan, when you say not to place too much emphasis one's own chart. I believe when looking at transits in one's own chart, they never seem to be as good as one expected or as gloomy as one expects. Life just unfolds...

Hi ! so I'm a tad shaken now.. my ascendant Lord Jupiter is on my 8th cusp/9th house in an old state thirsted by both mercury and venus in the sign of Scorpio. Merc and Ven are both in a drowsy state. Does that mean that their ability to produce their (beneficial, in my case) results outweigh Jupiter's ability to produce a negative overoptimism in regards to 8th house matters?

Hey Ryan, as you probably know :) Jupiter and Venus are in conjunction tonight (closer then ever) and on my birthchart they are also in conjunction (ju 28:42 and ve 18:41) in the second house within virgo. (Shad Bala resp. 0.97 and 1.26). Does it mean something special?
hyperion1980 Probably if you are in Jupiter/Venus or Venus/Jupiter Dasha, and Jupiter and Venus have wealth or resource yogas in your birth chart, it could give wealth through Venusian or Jupiterian indications, or it could give persuasive speech or a luxurious meal.

I would love to find a way... to integrate the science (or principles) of epigenetics -- and 'free will' involved in it -- with what is mapped out in astrology. If I could do that (and I suppose that meditation/yoga may help) then I think I will get closer to understanding how the spirit comes down into the body and how 'destiny' may be worked out via the body/gravitational field and maybe... be malleable (which is what epigenetics suggests). I have a hard time believing that these sciences are mutually exclusive. I believe alll things are somehow connected. If epigenetics is true, then, as Brice Lipton says, the soul is merely a "frequency"..."out there" that comes into the body through cell receptors (i.e. consciousness/ability to receive them) and maybe this includes... karma (?). I am just at the tip of an iceberg here, but it does now make me feel that... the body is just 'housing' us or our 'frequency'...that has come back in to elevate itself. But we still, in this life, have to make choices (which means... deal with our Mercury/Saturn)...and this will alter our frequency/ies, won't it? We are constantly struggling with/to refine...our 'frequency'/soul/karma, aren't we? I mean this suggests to me that the natal chart is still subject to some sort of existential reality (choices...constantly being a combination of outer forces encountering our astrological DNA -- abilities/limits/chart aspects?)... so this means 'destiny' is malleable...sort of. I'm not sure if Vedic astrology is really largely 'fated' or if some free will is still involved. What do you think?

Guru's transit in Leo (vedic) on July 5th? does Guru gets combust due to being in Sun ruled Raashi? i hear people talking about this one year of jupiter transit is inauspicious for marriage. . I have read that Simha Guru favours gaining knowledge, higher learning etc. Pls enlighten. Tnx :)
Usha Ven I typically don't get into general transits, because its going to effect everyone differently based on their own chart and SPECIFIC chart placements. It can't do the same for all, other wise everyone would have the same experience at the same time.

My question is: if the chart is a snapshot of the planetary positions of the exact time of your birth with a "bad" or challenging Jupiter (or any planet for that matter), how can you tell/know if the person hasn't changed since then? If they are 30-40 or however old they are? or have developed those qualities (willpower/initiative for Mars, faith for Jupiter ...etc) since their birth, especially if they are on a spiritual journey and do their inner work?
I assume through contemplation..?....or can you tell otherwise? Is there a "progressive" chart or something of that nature?

I've got Saturn in Aries, and it doesn't get any better per my d60. So since it won't improve, i give it . No shame in getting help if you help others in return, and i try to do a few things well rather than 10 things badly. I also learned recently that it's vata in nature, which means my Mars has been pushing it too hard. Poor dude. Sometimes i think i ask too much of him. He's in Scorpio, so at least he can pace himself and play the long game, but i feel bad editing his playbook so often. That question is about 1800 years old. Having had many conversations with many astrologers, the best answer I can give is...you have to determine for your self which one makes the most sense to you. I say this, because its easy to argue both sides of the issue, and ultimately most people side with the one they are most comfortable with anyway.

Im not sure either because astrologers often say a planet is weakened in dustanas.. but then they are exalted surely they have some strength.. the strength of Jupiter being partially dependent on the strength of the moon which of course is dependent on venus and so on.. then there are aspects to look at.. and so on.
I was thinking of my daughter's chart Also Danus ascendent.. her sun is in the 9th.. moon in the 8th..Saturn in the 3rd.. mercury in the tenth.. venus in the 11th.. you'd think wow this looks good.. but then i realized that although Saturn and Sun are in own sign.. they are actually opposing each other.
Its very hard to see all the patterns and nuances of one's own chart. Its also not easy to stop referring what you are learning back to your own chart.. we are too subjective to see and anyone but an experienced astrologer will also have a limited view.

Probably because Jupiter was in bad dignity in your 10th, and we'd also need to look at other factors, career and education are not simply limited to the 10th or Jupiter.

Hmm...well, yes I could see that, but I still see Meher Baba, regardless...I think your energy is similar to his as well as the look to some degree...plus you have much depth of spiritual wisdom and knowledge that you seem to be living more than the average spiritual person, even, so, it's possible...I've never seen 'Meher Baba' energy with anyone else before, but I could be wrong, of course...

I cannot answer for them. I've never asked them that. I know certain Gods and Goddesses although embodied are liberated and established in the consciousness of all knowing. Others are not. I suppose it would depend. Get your meditation refined. Contemplate the planet of your choice, and ask.

Jupiter is a functional malefic for Cancer ascendant.What kind of hurdles one will face during Jupiter Mahadasha when Cancer being ascendant and Jupiter (L6 & L9) conjuncts with Mercury (L3 & L12) in ascendant ? Both Jupiter and Mercury are in Ashlesha nakshatra.
Jupiter needs to be considered through all the vargas before this kind of answer can be given.

In D-9,Pisces is the Ascendant and Jupiter is situated in 12th house (Aquarius).
In D-10,Sagittarius is the Ascendant and Jupiter is situated in 11th (Libra) along with Mercury.Hope these two vargas (Navamsha & Dashamamsha) are important one to consider the strength of a planet.I am eagerly waiting to hear an expert comment from you.

I was someone that Ryan rejected as a client because he felt I wouldn't benefit from a reading from him. I think this is strange. I have received many readings (because even if you're told the same thing, you still learn more when it's said a different way by someone else) and I've benefited from all of them.

Hm, I have Jupiter in the first house with Cancer Ascendant, which I've been told is a beneficial thing. I've been in Jupiter Jupiter dasha since last year and I've been experiencing lots of depression and financial hardship --- - that doesn't seem very Jupiter like : /
In Lakech There are probably other reasons. We can't simply say one planet is in one position and therefore this will happen. There are 9 planets, 12 signs, positions from 12 house cusps, 16 vargas and sometimes many dashas.
Ryan Kurczak Thanks for the reply, yes, I get there is a lot more to consider. I feel disappointed though because I've had several astrologers tell me that this dasa would be a spiritually and materially prosperous time for me, but it's proving to be very difficult. Perhaps the difficulty will lead me to something greater. I'm on your waiting list for a reading but I'm not even 100% sure of my birth date. At this point I'm feeling inspired to study vedic astrology to understand things to a greater degree and perhaps come to the conclusion which date of birth is really mine. I had someone do a rectification and then had a reading from another astrologer following that. The person that read my chart said the rectification was incorrect and read me for the one I had previously known to be mine. I wish that I could rely on astrology for support right now but until I learn more myself, I feel it could be a waste of time and $ for someone else to figure things out.
