Two points I want to make 1. Awards should be objective and mirror the players performance, you can't really say "because he will win multiple mvps next couple years" like that makes sense? 2. The dismissal of DH possibly winning is plain bigotry, if a player is set above others then I don't think this should be a conversation. He leads the league in WAR by almost 1 more than the second player (even with disadvantages of having negative DRS) I would agree with if for the remainder season any fielding player that is within .050 ops or 10-15 wrc+ stats of Ohtani ( or he just falls off) they should get the recognition and it'd battle of classic stats then. Until then I don't think it's even a question and we should just enjoy it until this conversation lasts.
He’s absolutely right, a DH should not win. Bryce Harper also had an injury last year and is recovering too. Harper also leading the Phillies to the best record in the MLB
@@Mpatterson409If Harper comes back, and puts up decent numbers then yes he probably should win. But do we know when he’s coming back? If he doesn’t come back anytime soon, and Ohtani cant win because he’s a DH, then who? The guy that’s likely next in line is Ozuna who’s literally a DH as well. Also keep in mind Ohtani is on a Triple Crown watch. Fans just need to accept its a weak year in the NL offensively and if the MVP goes to a DH, its just one of those years.

DH sits on his bench getting rest. Position players are out there in the heat 100% of the time
Should get MVP for deferring his contract. Nobody in the league is even close.
I absolutely agree with you. DH can't win the MVP.
For Shohei to win it, he has to hit 60 homeruns, steal 45 bases, and hit 130 rbis. And win the triple crown.
he is going to achieve all that :)))
Harper when he gets healthy
KETEL MARTE MVP and 2B gold glove
