15:25 Given that it's going to be a family boat with many mouths to feed, I'd give thought to a fridge under the counter and a dedicated freezer under the stairs where you were previously going to put the fridge. You could provision the boat less frequently and the freezer would pay for itself through less take out.
I love reading the comments, lol. I don’t know how you do it, but I’m proud of you. I like the fridge on the angle because of your kitchen layout. But, as I’ve said before, I know little about narrowboats or your lifestyle. Tell Carol hi and I hope she’s doing well.
The small cable could be one of 2 things. My Inlander came with a cable with an LED to show fault codes. But its more likely to be the switched feed to go to some external fans that you mount behind the fridge to draw in cold and expel warm air
You can indeed put an external fan on Inlander fridges using the "F" terminal, but as that wire is on the "D" terminal it's going to be the diagnostic LED.
Make sure you are leaving enough room from wall and cabinet frame for tile and whatever else you need space wise. It looks like you have it right up against those two surfaces, with no allowances. All the best from Missouri.
It has been fun in these last two videos to see/hear your thinking as you work things out. I wonder if it's useful to you to talk out loud to yourself. You have a good way of being open to others' ideas, yet keeping to your sense of what works for you.
@James the Higher the number the Colder the fridge will be, so 7 will be the Coldest setting and 1 will be the Warmest setting. As far as the extra wires go, they could be for a few things like an external Thermostat or an external Indicator Light to show that the fridge is running or a shutoff switch. What you should is take your multimeter and check to see if they're "live" and to see how many volts they're putting out. If it's around 5 volts or so it's most likely for an indicator light and if it's less than 2 volts then it's most likely a thermostat. 👍👍 Oh and I think you should put the fridge on the diagonal section of the countertop, it looks better and it would be more functional there while cooking. Also the flue pipe would look better shaped like this ↓ | \ |
That thin cable should have a LED on the end of it, and is used by the electronics to flash a diagnostic code pattern if a fault occurs. You can just remove the cable if you don't want that feature. Inlander take normal 230 VAC fridges and replace the compressor with a 12/24 VDC one of their own design. Somewhere in or on the fridge there should be the original fridge's make and model number. This means you can order replacement parts, such as shelves, online if you need them. The fridge will get colder as higher numbers are selected on the thermostat.
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt Washing machines can pump above their own height, James. That can go straight out. The main factor is the depth of your sink, and the height of the outlet. Do boats have waste traps, or do they go straight out the side, like a caravan?
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt Both washing machine and dishwasher have built in pumps that can handle this easily, you only need a gulper for sink if you go for a very deep one.
I think your idea of the washing machine fixed to a common gulper with the sink is a non starter think about it the washing machine starts to pump into the gulper inlet who is going to switch the gulper on otherwise you will pump the wahing machine into the sink so need 1 way valves which might cause back pressure issues. By the time you have finished effing around it would be much simpler to fit an additional skin fitting which is not a major job, one hole and a bit of sealer
@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt your appliances will have their own pump to discharge waste, hopefully you've got enough height for the sink then you'll need no extra gulper 🙏😉
I’m reckoning it’s not going to be much warmer there than anywhere else in the galley. I’ll check though once the stove is in. I can always put the fridge on port opposite the washing machine
It sounds as though the big fan I sent you wont work sitting on the stove, but may, if there's a way of safely mounting it to the flue (testing needed) ;-)
I was thinking that but as I said it doesn’t get that hot and as long as there is adequate fire proofing I’m thinking it won’t be any hotter than anywhere else. I’ll check though once it’s all in
Hi james good to see you going with the diesel heater, i think multi fuel ones will be banned long before them. What was going on with the chaos and broken stuff everywhere?
When I built my 50ft nb, instead of a radiator in the main part of the boat, I installed Discrete Heat Thermaskirt. I only installed on one side of the nb and it does work well to provide background heating with main heat from a multi fuel stove. The Thermaskirt uses pumped hot water from a Webasto water heater. If I had installed Thermaskirt on both sides of the nb, I would have not installed the multi fuel. I didn't because the Thermaskirt was installed after the main fit out as an afterthought. C'est la vie! Enjoy watching your challenges!
James, I must say that I really enjoy how you explain your reasoning process. Sadly too many people don’t that very well .
That’s very kind of you to say 👍🏼
Tickles me the way random stuff around is the shapes and measurements you need! Great way of doing it.
Brilliant James, so good to see things going into the boat. You take care.

Yeah I am looking at freezers now! I’m liking your thinking
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt Or maybe even a convertible freezer/fridge for maximum flexibility depending of course on the price difference.

Hi james, usually on fridges, the higher number is the most coldest, so 7 on yours would be tge coldest. Hope this was helpful 😊
Good to know. I’ll take that with me throughout life now
That's how mine works too, 7 is the coldest.
I love the tiles around Rob's stove, I've been looking for something like that for my shower.
Looks like that stove gonna be pretty neat under the gunnels👍

I’m going to put a bulb on it and see

Well done James another interesting vlog hope all are well the oldies 👍👋
Fridge next to the heat is not a good idea.
Holy crap, those things are expensive. Have you won the lottery, James?
Definitely worth putting in the wall behind the heater before the heater is installed ... otherwise you'll have to work around and behind it?
Set the fridge in the angled area of the kitchen cabinets; not close to the heater.
When you said BSS, I thought Bull Sh*t Standards, glad you straightened me out on that. lol. Carry on, doing a great job!!
Nice interesting video thank you 😊
Refleks stove is a superb bit of kit good choice. I thought you were going to pop up out of one of those bushes at the start of the vid...
I’d be a bit wet if I did that !!! Yeah I love the design and use of a reflecks
Why cover the butcher block. Just clean and retain if needed but it's a nice look.

Its a calorifier not a calirofier 😅
👍
As other's have mentioned it is not advisable to place a fridge next to a heat source
7 Coldest, only learnt that myself about two weeks ago.

Have you worked out costs of deisel stove compaired to solid fuel to figure out whats more cost effective

Excellent stuff there - thanks - all good to know 👍🏼
Are you definitely having to connect the dishwasher waste to a gulper ? They're normally already pumped
Sorry I meant washing machine. Basically if the outlet to the cut is too high then the sink will require a gulper and maybe the washing machine too

dude don`t put a fridge next to a heater, think about it

probably an incandesent bulb in the fridge which is why it draws 10 watt when on. LED bulb in slow patrol fridge maybe draws 1 or 2 watss.
I built my hearth out of steel being a welder always steel laying about helps
Is the fridge too tall to fit under the hob???

Hi James I assume that fridge is not good to put near heat source IMO. 😀👋

I thought you gave up the dishwasher? All looks good though. Things are moving along. 😊🤗 Kathy
Fridge drawing 10w = 10w light bulb, replace with led?
You can download info on that compressor and associated controller. Wires could be for a fan ?
Hi james good to see you going with the diesel heater, i think multi fuel ones will be banned long before them. What was going on with the chaos and broken stuff everywhere?
That was when the boat was transported down here by road back in may
James , The other cable may have been linked to a fan to draw cold air from the bilge?
Apparently it’s a LED alight for faults
17:43 that wire could be a sensor that alarms if the fridge goes on the fritz
Apparently it’s for a LED fault system
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt A feature preferable to losing the entire contents of a fridge in the event of a compressor failure
