Rule correction: When the game ends, players place their leftover gold on cards with Purse scoring in their tableau. Each purse may hold as much gold as printed in black on it. Rules note: In normal gameplay, you will only move the messenger to the other card row if the card you bought has a “move messenger” icon below the cost of the card. This point is irrelevant in my variant since the AI dictates the messenger’s location, while I don’t have any impact in the AI’s starting messenger location.
Is the “always move the messenger” a solo variant rule? Because in the basic game you only move the messenger when you buy a card that has a move symbol under the cost.
Good point and you are right about that rule for the basic game! I’ll make a note in my pinned comment and description. Thank you! In this variant, your messenger moves don't affect the AI. The AI always moves the messenger to the row it didn't take a card from. I did the same for consistency, however I actually didn’t even need to worry about moving the messenger or not since it doesn’t impact the AI turn. You can still spend a key to move the messenger on your turn.

I love beat your own score - thanks for showing this accessible solo variant!
No problem! I figured I wouldn't be the only one who doesn't mind BYOS. :)
