@@TheBeggies95no doubt the last few years have been a struggle, but there is nothing wrong about looking at the positive aspects as the team starts this whole process over. It isn’t all doom n gloom, that said definitely not expecting a playoff berth or anything this year or maybe even next.
The panthers went out and got Bryce every weapon they could find in the draft. Thats about as good as you can ask for.

I like Legette a lot! I don't see him as an X receiver but I like his size and talent. He is very raw and the Panthers need to dumb down the playbook for him asking him to run easy routes in the slot. If you put him on the Bengals he would be an absolute stud but the Panthers don't have such luxuries.
@@mikecornell8663 No, this is not a "trust me bro" comment. This knowledge became pretty widespread following the draft. The only "trust me bro" part of the comment was that it was either Keon Coleman or Xavier Legette which, of course, we will probably never know.
Our defense was good last year, just stayed on the field the WHOLE game, fatiguing and had no help from the offensive side.

What OC is saying is 💯 correct. The defense were put in horrible situations all year. By the time the 4th quarter rolled around they'd been on the field so much, they were blown up. That's where your stats come from.

Tbh, the panthers I think are kinda better than most people give them credit for. The D is already really good and they got a new O Line and weapons for Bryce.
The defense definitely took a step back with the Brian Burns trade. However, their offense definitely improved.
I would say the defense is good enough. The question became how improved could the offense get. And I think they did a solid job of surround Young with some studs!

Facts
The panthers will shock a lot of people.. it's only up from here this season. If we get over the injury bug, the new coaching difference coupled with the better schemes with the talent infusion will make a night and day difference. I can see them with 7 wins or more. The issue is every team struggles with a new scheme.

Little known fact about the NFC South is since it’s became a division, minus 4 or 5 seasons (don’t remember exactly) the last place of the division is almost ALWAYS the top next year..
Panthers actually have some “luck” in their favor to lead the division and make a playoff run..

I'm actually impress with the HC who saw what was needed to be done and went out and did an admirable job retooling this team.
Adding Diontae to Thielen gives really good veteran leadership and for some awkward reason the Dolphins let Hunt go being 6'6 and 320lbs will definitely help the OL. RB in this past draft will help further settle the offense and improve production.
You must give a new HC 3 good drafts to build a competitive team but if the defense is what I am reading here on this site, this team in this division has a chance to be competitive even though they aren't ready...
I tend to agree with everything you said. At this point if Bryce can't show massive improvement, then we are going to be looking at a new QB next draft. That being said, lets not lie to ourselves, even with all these improvements, Carolina is not going to be a top 10 team. We are probably looking at a 6-9 win season at this point. Their is just too much to fix, to do it all in one off season.

The 5th year option comes in handy here because we’ll have Bryce’s 5th year too if he works out, so if we took Legette in round 2, he would be here for 4 years, and would need to be paid the same year as Bryce If they both work out! So this way, when (pls god) we exercise Legette’s 5th year option, we can pay Bryce and Xavier in different years!

I do quite like their additions in the offseason. I think we overpaid for Robert Hunt a bit, but i dont think he would come to Carolina if we didnt. The only offseason things im not a fan of is the return we got for Burns and trading to the 1st for XL. Im disappointed with the return for Burns as we could have definitely gotten a 1st i feel like and unless there was reason to believe someone else was gonna trade up for XL in front of them, i dont see a good reason for the move to 1st. Im not as high on XL, im hoping he proves me wrong.
I also wish that they coudlve gotten more for Burns, but I am sure they took the best offer that they got

The reason the panthers moved up a pick to get legette is for the 5th year option on 1st rounders

the trade up was for financials. gave us the fifth year option. if we didnt have it, Bryce and XL would be due for contracts the same year. If XL and Bryce break out, its easier to spread the money out over different years and not the same year.

Love this analysis. Insightful, well thought out, and conveyed to be easily understood. Just one question when you discuss Trevin Wallace but said you felt there were other linebackers that would have been better suited - which OLBs did you think Carolina should have gone with? I say OLB because obviously Payton Wilson is there but would not be a starter considering their ILBs are Shaq Thompson and Josey Jewell. His injury history also concerns me.

Just think if we had not given away our #1 pick we could have drake Maye playing back in his home state of NC. And maybe build around drake to become the next long term QB. Carolina hasn't had one of those for years.
Carolina can easily be at the top of their division with this roster and coaching staff. ATL is not as good as people think. Defense has a few holes and Kirk is 35 coming off an Achilles injury. It just doesn't feel like ATL knows what they're doing, especially after that draft.
You gotta give Bryce and this panthers team a few more years to be on top the division
Definitely think this team will be good if Bryce plays well. We got good ass play makers in the draft and FA. A lot of our games we were winning up till the Defense was gassed. With the offense being immensely better i think we could surprise a lot of people

No wide receivers, Oline or a competent coach. Bryce wasn’t perfect but to say he didn’t have bright spots on tape is crazy.

As a panthers fan, i was big on Bryce going into the draft and loved the pick. Although the panthers WR and O-Line room were terrible its still clear that CJ Stroud is the better QB. Bryce really struggled to throw the deep ball accurately even when he did have time. He also had a tendency to hold the ball too long and sometimes wouldn't throw the ball when receivers were open, the terrible play calling and O line could be a big factor bc of these things. Im not giving up on Bryce but he does need to play better and im very skeptical going into this season im not buying into the offseason hype this year like i always do. ill believe it when i see it.
This is exactly how I feel. He couldn't do much with the #4 defense so yeah the offense got better but imo the defense got much worse lol soooooo will it really look that much different? Only time will tell I suppose

I honestly get sick of ppl mentioning Jaycee horn in their analysis. He has never played a full season and has prolly never played more than 11 games tbh. And almost all his injuries are in his feet. He’s done. Repetitive injuries in the same area of the body is not a coincidence.

I would normally agree with that but he’s had a fracture in his foot, a wrist fracture and then a hamstring injury this year, only one of those being a soft tissue injury. He has to stay healthy of course but typically if he isn’t sustaining lots of soft tissue injuries then the previous injuries don’t actually affect his later ones. He’s just been really unlucky. Hopefully he can stay healthy and ball this year because if he does he will be elite.
And one of those was a random turf monster injury. I think Jaycee balls out this year. When he’s on the field he’s already shown he is elite
He's only had 2 foot injuries that cost him time. The broken one and a sprained ankle. His other injuries were either hamstring related or the broken wrist Christmas Eve in 22. So the "almost all" statement is just false
Thielen was solid but wore out. Hurst was a sad situation. Offensive line was rough too.
Diontae move was very good. I think he'll open up the offense for everyone in addition to the o-line.
Brooks may need a few weeks into season to get going. But great move. Legette is odd - late breakout, but was converted QB.
If they can get to 7 or 8 wins and show some fight I'd be happy
No one in the south is scary - Atlanta has the worst defense in the division. Lattimore & JC Horn single up Drake London and you focus on Bijan and Pitts. 9 wins could do take it again.
Atlanta’s defense is a lot better than your making it out to be. They also have the best QB in the division by a country mile (as of right now, I do believe in Bryce)

The Panthers defense did a very good job last season. The offense was barely on the field so they were almost always out there getting more and more and more tired and yet they still kept the offense in the game most games.
Lost their CB1 and captain of the defense in Shaq two weeks into the season. Evero is a magician!
The Panthers will win 5 games this season. This is the ceiling of wins. I underestimated how bad they would last season saying they would win 4 wins and so many people blasted me. This season mark my words they will improve but not by much. They will still be a bottom 3 team in the league.

But understand they played in different systems with way more talent around them. Carolina have to overpay players to come there and have little options. Bryce is too little and can't see over his line. It's literally a wall in front of him and he can't see his receivers. Can you imagine playing in that scenario? When he throws the ball he has no idea where his receiver is or if the defender is sitting on the route.
Homie, Wonnum and Clowney aren't nearing 25 sacks. Their best seasons combined (both last year) only total 17 sacks. Clowney, despite playing with Watt and Garrett for a lot of his career, has never had double digit sacks. Also, there's a Shy Tuttle shaped problem on our d-line. We don't have a Nose Tackle. And Robinson isn't playing it
to be honest the blame should go to who ever decided to trade the bears for the no.1 pick. panthers set back their tean 3 or 4 yrs. they should have kept their pick. they probably be bad even have one of the top 3 picks most likely 1st pick. they would be the ones with caleb or jayden and still have dj. and would be going into this yr likely with a 10 win team.
XL is better coming out of college, skill wise, then DJ Metcalf. In just hope hw can translate it to the league.

I think we can be really good offensively and middle of the road defensively I like that they got more protection for Bryce and upgraded weapons and I think more play action and running the football I have a ceiling if 8 wins for us and I finally feel like their a plan and have hope 🥲
