Black sea bass are always a fun catch. They hit just about anything, and it's not uncommon to hook up to a double. In RI, the current regulations on them are 16", bag limit 2 (June 18-August 31), 6 (September 1-December 31). While sea bass is closed at the moment, they have been showing up.

      Both are right:
For "General Recreational" (private boaters, shore fishermen, kayakers) the season opened on 5/22 with a 2-fish limit and a 16.5" minimum size. For Party and Charter Boats, the season opens 6/18 with a 2-fish limit and a 16" minimum size.

I'm curious why you don't consider cod a bottom fish.

I was hoping to see some actual fishing to see how these are caught, on what bait/lures, etc.
