If you like black pepper or other flavors, you can rinse the crab meat and dip it in the sauce。I come from jiangsu,in my family ,we use the video‘s approach to cook blue crab,but do not use it for the king crab 。

Thats what i was thinking. So many spices, just overpowering the taste of the crab which i came to eat. Just make some optional dips seperately and thats it. If i want i can have spicy bits, or not, but I do want to taste the ocean in the first place!
Yes. Crab meat is delicate and absorbs anything. The less seasoning the better it will taste. And if needed it can always be dipped in condiments to enhance the favours.

I have eaten King Crab all my life since was little is my all time favorite is at Capt Jacks in Sunset Beach Ca. they make it the absolute best and it is simply steamed with sweet garlic butter all the rest of this is a waste of time and effort IMO

Some countries or regions require restaurants to freeze live seafood such as lobster or king crab in advance, and some restaurants have been fined for missing this step. Perhaps it is out of humanitarianism, but from some perspectives it is well done in the video.

Alaskan king Crab. All that's required is some? Butter, And/or lemon. Or both? That is it. Do? Not mask the wonderful flavor of an Alaskan king Crab. If it is fresh, there is no reason to disguise it. My God. It can not be made better than it all ready is.
You have to cook crab live in boiling water so it dont release the iodine. Under the body shell is a red spot on top of the gutts "star of david" fisherman call it . That's iodine and when a crab dies it releases it into the legs ..why you will get violent ill if you eat dead crab or legs Fallin off !!
Iam born and raised Alaskan. I am completely baffled, struggling to find words to articulate how appalled I am at how...what..has been done to such a beautiful animal. It's way over cooked and there is no need for any sauce except butter, garlic and lemon. Mostly have it on table for looks. It tastes amazing without all of that. Just felt like such a punch to my gut to watch this. All of it is truly unnecessary. 🤦♀️😭
I’m sad to see the crab is alive when put in the hot steam… I thought the ice would make it “sedated” in some way, but it was clearly alive and moving… 🥺
Exactly. I've never understood why they don't just shove an ice pick or knife through the crabs head first, it costs nothing and takes only a second . Much more humane than boiling it alive.
I agree. Poor thing was taken out of its ice sedation to be displayed then put back into ice sedation,slowly bought back to room temperature,wide awake then slowly boiled to death! Like,I’m not vegetarian and i love eating crab,until now!

Кстати - жестоко было живое членистоногое на паровую баню ставить - могли бы перед этим и ножом в затылок его умертвить...
не обижайся, краб - ты очень вкусен, ты ведь, и сам любил поесть других. ( но я, лично, предпочитаю речных раков, брошенных в кипяток со специями живьем).
I live in San Francisco! Our crabs are called Dungeness Crabs. 2 to 2.5 lbs. Are best. Boil them in water for 12 to 15 minutes. Eat them with sourdough bread and butter and a bowl of piping hot New England Clam Chowder.. A lot of the time I simply chill the cooked crab in the refrigerator and then use a nutcracker to breakup the shell and dip the meat in melted butter. The cost of Crab today makes this a rare treat usually during Christmas and New Years day. .
@@stevescafidi6692 They're much like tropical mud crabs and therefor far more affordable than overpriced, underflavoured king or snow crabs and that's their beauty. We eat them in so many styles but chili or black pepper sauce are favourites.

Agree. Sometimes other ingredients drown out the delicate flavor. My husband loves crabs in spaghetti. I say the red sauce covered up the flavor.

They exist in the above freezing waters. Ice baths knock them out cold. Especially with salt added. #science
