    As someone who grew up with a white parent - I think it’s ungrateful and foolish to disrespect your parents especially since they laid the foundation that helped you achieve the money numeral status in this country. I’m mixed race - and I would only honor my parents for all they’ve done for me. Both my Jamaican mom and my white British dad. He died when I was 7 and he was so good to me. He would sit with me and read endlessly for me as a child. It’s because of that - I grew up to love reading later on. Please cherish your parents - they sacrifice a lot for kids. And they deserve our love and respect - even when they make comments that bother us. Just let done things go. They are not perfect.

      thats YOUR story and YOUR experience. Allow him to have his. He clearly said he knows they love him, but said some racist things. Two things can be true at the same time. Colin is successful because HE had the TALENT and work ethic to make it to the NFL. There are many middle class and even rich kids that don't have the Talent and work ethic to acheive what HE did, despite having money to pay for the best trainers they didnt have the drive and Talent. The real issue in this country is most White Americans are uncomfortable when Black Americans bring up racism that they experience. This is less about Colin and mostly about them not wating to hear about police brutality and the racism black Americans face here. If he said I'm kneeling during the anthem for Cancer, It wouldn't be an issue. It was his topic they didn't like. Let's get real.

    As a black grandparent, I know full well that gangs back in the nineties were wearing cornrows. It was not racist for your parents to feel that way any more than be annoyed if your pants were past your hips. I appreciate Colin Kaepernick kneeling to show solidarity for people in black communities who are afraid of the police. I grew up that way and I never even jaywalked. But Colin calling his parents racist is pathetic. We do our best for our kids if they do stuff that looks like they are heading off track, we say something.

      @@19stacymoore Until you've been pulled over by the police because you're suspiciously in the "wrong neighborhood" and sit while they call for backup before even approaching the car, you won't know why I said "scared of the police."
      Kaepernick may have been about himself, but Reid wasn't. Neither were a lot of others who knelt. But then people made it about disrespecting the military as if that was a reality. It was because black people have civil rights and they were being trampled upon. Jeffry Dahmer was shown more respect than a man passing a bad check. You won't get it, though. You lack the empathy necessary to relate.

    • @jimcampbell632
      @jimcampbell632 Год назад

      @@allisonmaldonado3705 If you walk that back a level, you'll see a bigger issue. WHY is there a greater chance? Because black men feel that the police are not there to serve and protect their community. When the police show up, they are there to keep order in their system. Are you up on old movies? White people see the police as Wyatt Earp or John Wayne, coming to save the day and keep order. Black people see the police as the sheriff in Rambo: First Blood. He cares about his group, so he'll arrest you for just existing, because you might be a threat. And that creates the threat.
      Personal note: I've never broken the law. I even drive the speed limit when y'all don't. But I've been pulled over at least 3 to 4 times a year. The reasons have been a dirty license plate, failure to come to a complete stop, driving too slow, crossing the line when turning, weaving, and not having too much frost on my back passenger window.
      For which of these have YOU been pulled over?
