Hi Graeme, thanks for the excellent review. Yesterday I finally received this figure in The Netherlands, and one of the first things I did was try to open up that base to check if I can rig it with LEDs. Turned out this was really easy to do. Loosened the four screws and the bottom plate popped right off. I taped an LED Strip Light from LightMyBricks on the inside and routed the (really thin) wire through the seams of red oblong cutouts. No drilling necessary. Hooked it up to USB and it looks great! I did the same with the eyes; popped a single LightMyBricks LED in the faceplate, routed the wire to C-3PO's back, powered it via USB and done... no batteries needed. 🙂
great pick up graeme..im so glad HT still putting some love for the OT characters..and man this thing is a must for sure to have it..and that han solo just announced was 🔥.graeme are you getting the the Kenobi Vader series ver or the ROTJ vader version?
Great review! To me he belongs with his little buddy R2!!! Although I see your dilemma, you want R2 with Besbin Luke and Yoda! Get another R2!! lol But I would put the two buddies together! That’s how I have mine right now! Sideshow versions. I’m waiting on this one to arrive!
Enjoyable video, Graeme. I'm interested in seeing how he compares with the episode II version. The one area where the Sideshow version beat out HT's Ep II C3PO was the articulation (IMHO) - the arms move easier, and the fingers articulate.
