I had a 2008 N400 in the same colour. Loved it. Never went out without someone complimenting it. Had it for around 5 years and never had an issue. Swapped it for a Porsche Targa and nobody ever commented on it. Everyone loves an Aston. 😀😀
I had the V8 vantage 4.3 in 2010 and I utterly loved it. It was beautiful. I’m not rich but I’ve owned some stunning cars. The Aston was the one I NEEDED back in my life. So last year I bought the Vantage S and fell in love all over again. Both cars have been super reliable. The trick is to buy one that has been properly serviced and not had work deferred. Too many people finance the car and then cut servicing costs by not getting power steering fluid, gearbox fluid changed, coolant flushed etc. they don’t have pressure hoses checked and replaced and then break down and blame the car. It’s just constant oil changes for a cheap stamp and then on to the next owner to do again. If you’re buying an Aston, don’t just count the service stamps. Ask for receipts and see what has and what HAS’NT been done. Enjoy the car. I’ll hopefully be doing a euro trip soon in mine. 😊
The snarl that 4.3l V8 makes at full chat is one of the most underrated exhaust tones. I know it’s not the most powerful engine, but it’s fast enough to seriously endanger one’s license and you can enjoy it. I don’t know about others, but I know it would be a cold day in Hell before I got bored of listening to that engine.
There's also the pull factor to consider. Use one hand to count the number of babes who wouldn't like to take a ride in your Aston Martin convertible. Seriously.
That V8 bark never gets old. To me it is the sound of WEC during one of its peak years with 488 GTE, V8 Vantage GTE, Corvette C7.R and 991 RSR ruling the GTE class.
Thank you for giving me another decision to make , you convinced me 3 years ago to buy an Audi rs4 b8 avant ,I absolutely love it but I’m now scanning the classifieds for one of these, you’re a bad man 😂thank you for all of your continued content 👍
Looks, and sounds, awesome! Hope it gives you lots and lots of pleasure, James!!!! Ps- last week, you recommended an Audi R8- news update! I did... and drove one- a V10- whilst a competent car, the interior didn't do it for me- and, having seen one of your earlier Ferrari videos, I'm going to go for a Callifornia- and not the T- so, I'm scared, and excited at the prospect!!! I'll let you know when I get one!! Many many thanks for the messages, and enjoy that Aston! Ohh and THAT Austrian holiday! X
I’m lucky enough to live in Carinthia , southern Austria , Italy,Slovenia and Croatia are all within easy driving distance and the roads are pure bliss ,though I do most on motorcycles , it’s driving & riding heaven , have a great trip , get up the Grossglockner high alpine road if you get a chance , although there are numerous others, Enjoy !
So funny, I watched your early video of the 4.3 and 3 years later I took the plunge on Friday. Love mine, 4.3 manual roadster in silver grey. Enjoying it a lot…
Good for you. What a great car! I highly suggest swapping that shift knob with the v12 aluminum. The weight totally changes the shift experience for the better!!!!
I really love the DBS loooks. Way better than the Vantage to me. But the Manual V12 Vantage Roadster really speaks to me for some reason. There is one on AutoTrader rn for £100K.
Noticed the green euro emissions sticker on the windscreen - no unnecessary fines for you 👍 Hope you got your motorway sticker for the autobahn in Austria (I didn't and got fined 😂)
He hinted at this in the lusso V8 video previously... I remember him saying something around this doesn't handle as well as my vantage, I was very confused until now
There should be Don Henley’s „Boys of summer” in the background. James it is not a big problem because you are already talking about selling both of them. Building the collection is a problem but this seems like some sort of the summer affair.
Hi James, should you want any insider tips or a quick meetup in Austria, let me know. I'd love to meet up and return a favour, since you got me hooked to Lotus! Cheers
I hope to take my Evora down to the Austrian GP within a year or two, and film some things down there. I’d be very grateful for any tips on the car/Lotus community 🙂 What Lotus do you have?
@@NightfallDrives Hi, I have a Launch edition Evora. Lotus community is quite small, but a lot of good people and interesting stories. For example, JUBU is definetly the place to visit, and it's only a short detour
@@stirkac thanks very much, Jubu does look a cool place and would be kind of on the route down. Ah nice, I’d be interested to hear how people react to the Evora over there. In France last month there was a great deal of interest because you just don’t see any there (probably due to high sales tax on top of it being quite rare anyway)
Congrats! Do you experience heel/toe issues? I have a V8V manual LHD (US) and the transmission tunnel gets in the way of my typical way of heel toe-ing. I figured the RHD cars wouldn't experience this.
Oh dear.....I have a Ferrari 550 ( '97 version ) and.....a '98 DB7 i6...... I wish i just had the Ferrari .......but the old Astons have charm and if well sorted are very useable and beautiful......but as investments?
It's a pretty cat, but... Just one problem was my V8, and losing ability to repair the windshield wipers as they just "shut off." Which meant that you had to take off the intake plenum, the other tubes, to get to the wipers. That isa four-thousand dollar job, for a car that only had 24,000 miles on her. I hadn't spent that much for my XJ8L V8 for 27000 miles, with a plastic reservoir for $650, and one wiper for another $200. That is it. Far easier to repair and replace.
Incorrigible but understandable Sir, given their value for money and our inability to stick with any one car or indeed make. The only risk with chop and change is never quite bonding with 'the one', the keeper. And there is no therapy that seems to work.
George Monbiot was banging on in the Guardian today about the motor boats of what he called the extremely rich, (by which he presumably meant anyone talented enough to earn more than him), calling them wankpanzers, heaven knows what he would call your cars or make of you! Actually it made we want to go out and buy one together with a Ferrari for the marina car park!
Collecting Aston Martins can never be a problem. I see it as a solution. It’s therapy for those who need a dose of cool in their lives.
@@ChrisPatrick-q6k as a Canadian sure it is as I can’t get one hehehe

Go out in a Delorean which is meant to be rubbish but watch the amount of people who'll point in awe of the thing.

What a find - great car, but James, that exhaust with valves open is AWESOME! Don't change it....
James I've slated that shirt you're wearing but know I am a fan...the colours reminds me of the 'drum stick' lolly pops I used to have as a kid.
Thanks for the mentioning the S2000 James … looking forward to the next update!
Fantastic choice! Having owned a V8 Vantage 4.7 manual Roadster (in lightening silver too!) for 3 years now, I absolutely love it. 👌
Aw yeah! Had completely forgot you had that S in the collection.
love that you covered it in the thumbnail

From the very first frame I knew it was the N400 roadster based on a previous video lol. Great car and will only go up in value.
Perfect car for the trip, hope it is terrific fun.

Yes! Yes! Yes! …. Just love that AM sound !! ❤
We need a full garage update James!
I had a jag with that colour, but with green tint lovely.....iridescent. Enjoy your holibobs
You don’t need that TVR now, with the noise this thing produces 😉

Please keep me (or us) updated with the Vantage. I'm seriously considering one (along with others) for my next vehicle
A man and his toys cannot be separated, and the more toys you have when you pass away, the greater the man.
You must be under 30.
In reality, he who dies with the most experiences wins.
By 45 or so you'll have all the toys...
I still think this the best ever looking Aston (except maybe the DB4 Zagato) 👍
Talking of fleet updates, what's happening to the BX and Rovers? They seem to have been "parked" for an eternity, especially the Citroen

Thanks Jay, instant covet. Target price for 06-08 4.3 Vantage convertible?
How come the DBS is not ready for sale? Isn't the purchase recent, in the grand scheme of things?
I hope BR fixes the double stick tape behind the D and B. My OCD gets triggered when i see it. :)
Cracking me up dude
i was wondering why you had Umweltzone plakette on your windscreen.. But obviously the German Trip..
I knew something was up when James said in a video or two ago that something felt different “compared to my Vantage”
What a car to have on a road trip
Until you break down and have to wait for a recovery vehicle.
Has it been crashed? The panels dont to seem line up. Epic engine noise though
How does it compare with the Maserari Gransport?
On paper they are very similar, and the GS is much less sought after and expensive to buy.
I saw that headline & burst out laughing!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This was such a delicious video
genuine question: when are you doing a fleet update, and where do you keep all your cars since u have so many
Lovely car sounds awesome

The new v8 vantage may have more power but the old Aston 4.3 I think it was sounded better than the 5.0 jag
For a second I thought you bought a Cygnet.
Your camera settings are too close. Pull back a bit so we can see more of the car!
Number 27 has got it spot on.
Ohh so tempted to swap for my 997 4S Manual, but would that be a mistake? 😮
BTW, there's a serious problem with the 4.7 rods and pistons. The 4.3 turned to be the more reliable
this is what we in the business call foreshadowing.
