UPDATE:1 year and still cranks within the first 2-3 pulls. Probably will buy another when this one finally does bite the dust ruclips.net/user/postUgkx43QMbQqu67IZadu9ou8Sg1BdrunMRNqX . No issues at all. Very happy with it.UPDATE: After 6 months of use and over 70 uses I would still highly recommend this pressure washer. It does vibrate a decent amount but never had it “walk” like others have mentioned. No oil leaks, still seems to run like the day I bought it. Still cranks within 2-3 pulls every time. Very happy with my purchase!Have used it about a dozen times now. Plenty of power, cranks up on 1-2 pulls every time. My only complaint would be I wish it was a little taller to make it easier to walk with it (hits my ankles a lot) and that the two hose connections were a little further apart but it hasn’t caused me any issues. Seems to run a good 1-1/2-2 hrs on a full tank, overall a well built machine and definitely worth the money in my opinion.
Thank you for sharing valuable info, would it possible to share the document you have on hand so i won't be lost reinstalling all the seals in a proper manner, Thanks
Great job with the quality and explanation of the pump procedure. I have rebuilt a number of CAT pumps and wondered what these baby pumps were all about. Now I know. Looks simple enough. Great job in the production quality, very nicely done. And, thank you.
a craftsman was run without water supply they tossed unit out after seeing water leakage under neath i wonder if internal damage was done ? still operates but i guess i will dig in a little thanks for this thorough tutorial !
Good explainer, except I wish you'd said which way up the seals should face. I reassembled my washer and it leaks like crazy from the pump head section where the three cylinders connect with the 'distributor' I'll call it. Anyone know which way up? Should it be the flat face with small part numbeer facing outwards?
O and I used half water and half white vinegar to clean the hard water build up on the metal parts. I think I'm gonna get a hard water filter for the house intake
I used blue lock tight never red cause the bolts are too small and you will never get it apart to do Maintenance on the pump in the future on all my blots the vibration from the engine and pump causes the bolts to come lose and you can have a blown pump right away I had a feeling the one my dad left me after he passed he stuck his nose in it to rebuild it and I let my nabor use it lucky I hang out with him while he was pressure washing and I noticed the pump started to leak Hella oil so I rebuilt mine using blue lock tight. Remember never red there too small of bolts and you sill snap them next time you open it
Guys when reassembling with the new o-rings and seals DO NOT SPRAY THEM with any solvent ie: brake cleaner, MAF cleaner or anything of the like before reassembly. Contact with it will lead to premature failure! Make sure the parts are clean BEFORE reassembly. Also you want to make sure everything is lubed LIBERALLY with the pump oil during reassembly. Great video btw.
Thank you for watching ?????. Uhh No ! Thank you for showing mate , Massiv thumbs up for this vid. You have saved me alot of time and money. Thank you ! Do you have a link for the diagram you were looking at please?
well thanks for the nice comment. I would have to look to see if I still have the papers but I seriously doubt it since it's like 4 years ago. if I find them I'll find some way to get them to you.

Ohh wow man, Thank you so much. Im from the uk and i cant find these seals anywhere. Do they still sell them in the US? Thank you for getting back to me.
Thanks for the video. My kit did not come with instructions; I can't tell by the video how the seals are oriented. Where can find the instruction sheet?
Good morning, can any one help please. I am looking for an instructional video on how to replace the inlet valves on a cat pump 279 please. Or if anyone can tell me if the internal parts for the 279 are the same as what other model thank you so much
Those are the bearings in the pump. You can look on the web the model number of the whole craftsman unit is 580752550. If those parts are torn up you are better off replacing the whole pump.
I know this video was made quite some time ago, but I have a question. I rebuilt mine today and it is leaking like crazy from where the pump and the piston housing faces meet, mainly at the base. An ideas. I’m thinking of using some RTV if nothing else works. All the bolts were torqued down as much as I feel comfortable doing. Any suggestions?
@@Broncocarl92 Thanks, good video. The pump is leaking, I guessing it's calcium from hard water has fouled the seals. My pressure washer is a Craftsman model no. 580.752400 and the manual has the seal kit part number 193807GS. I ordered the 190595GS hope it fits.
hey the hi pressure seals have different sides...which way do they go in?? also, the thin and thick swash washers and bearings...which order do they go back????
Its hard to see you re-assembling the pump body its done mostly off screen. Can you tell me the order of the 3 parts that go into the body. You called one a "squash plate" also how much oil is really needed in it there? you seem to only use a few ounces
Dude...I'm aware this is an "old post" but I'm needing help to fit my pump back together, right now ( 7-17-15 ) so I don't know if you'll even see this, but I hope so. As I watched your video for help, it appears to me when putting the pump back together (8:45) that you forgot to put the "the three brass plunger shoe's on top of each piston," that go between the piston tops and the swash plate. I can see the old plunger shoes lying on your work bench, "and" the new ones in an plastic bag back on the left. Rather than just trying to point out your mistake, as I'm reassembling my pump right as I type this, I need to know if the pump worked without them...I'd be surprised since it was designed to have them, and keeping them still while reassembling the pump adds another complexity to putting it all back together.
thanks for the post.. but on the pump side you were putting in bearings and what looked like a washer, you did that off camera... is it pretty straight forward?
need help...I recently had a oil leak on my SIMPSON 1700 PSI pressure washer. I took it apart now I got a O RING that don't know where it goes. I got stuck on the oil pump and pistons. pls help me?
lucky me they discontinued the damn seal kit can't find it anywhere online and called several places. this one had an oil seal fail and let water into the oil base of the pump. so yep screwed
I have the exact same pump housing that I need to reassemble. Could you by change email a copy of those instructions to me? The video helps a lot but I cannot discern exactly which parts/seals you are using where. The replacements I got do not have the instructions.
I have the same exact pump and I need to order that seal kit. I tried to clean everything and reinstall the pump. It will not keep pressure up. What is the spring looking thing do? What is the seal kit part number?
Broncocarl, I have this unit. Sears parts are exhorbitant. You got this seal kit from Amazon? From the part nos on the pump? I either need this or the unloader kit. Any ordering help would b appreciated.
Yea, Sears is no longer competitive as they think their crap is unique. It's double what is available from Amazon. No wonder they're sinking like the Titanic. A slow Painful inevitable death. Not Competitive at all.
mr bronco , I found the same kind you have . what was the number of the repair kit by briggs . thanks. I found one and replaced the carb . every thing worked well . I was using it today and the pump felt weak. nice vid .

Extra parts and I'm guessing o-rings on the wrong side of the brass cups. Oh Shit! Will there be a do over?

There are two different seals in the kit. Which did you put in and how are they oriented? Maybe you could show the instructions.
you realize the video is seven years old?

im pretty sure he put the brass parts over the pistons, then he put the O rings over the brass part.
Did u service the unloader? I think it may be my problem. Runs, absolutely no pressure and poor flow. just like hose pressure only.
thanks for the post.. but on the pump side you were putting in bearings and what looked like a washer, you did that off camera... is it pretty straight forward?
Man that was two years ago... I suppose you are refering to the bearing and washer from drive.. yes I think is was no big deal. Thanks for watching.
