Seen them at the Bottleneck in Lawrence KS back in my early 20s. Not many people was there. I remember Rolling Rock was the special that night. Which just happened to be my favorite beer at the time. I jammed out, Had the dance floor to myself. Best show I ever been to.
wow.... I woke up last night at 3:00AM with what happened to be "Saint Joe on the School Bus" in my head.... I knew the song but I didn't know it was Marcy Playground.... Today has been more or less spent learning about the band that I missed all these years. Very emotional music (death metal keeps me grounded but every once in a while, it's good to step outside and feel something.
This is my favorite version of the song. Awesome ! Great job on the video production on this. Nice camera work, good sound, and effectively simple editing.
It’s not a bad song, but it definitely shouldn’t have been the single. It misrepresented them a lot. I was lucky enough to have their manager visit my high school music business class way back in 2002 (I feel old now 😂 ) and he talked about how they all weren’t too stoked on Sex and Candy being pushed as the single. Absolutely brilliant band though. Would love to see them.
I actually met John at a show in Toledo. I told him sincerely that Shapeshifter was my all time favorite album. He grimaced and said, "Uhhh the label didn't like that one." I asked him why not. He said, "they said it was too good. All they wanted was more Sex and Candy." Shameful.
This whole album is fucking genius
One of the finest songwriters of his generation
Still don't want to picture that lumpy oaf having sex though. ; )
Yes

Shapeshifter is a great album.
This is my favorite MP song..i can't, i can't... it's just too much. So amazing. It's the perfect song
Truest song written
Absolutely amazing… I haven’t been this mesmerized by a song for a long damn time until now.

sounds like a built to spill song, nice big guitars
I love chunky jack white
I wish I could see this band live someday. But if they still play concerts they surely don’t come to Germany:-/
That's "All the Lights Went Out", but it's still a great song and great quality vid. Thanks for sharing it. :D
Holy nightcap batman.
Incredible performance, to a too drunk crowd.
Still got it.
one of the most underrated bands ever. sex and candy was one of their worst songs.
It's not a bad song but it's definitely the tip of the iceberg
