We need to let Julius have at least one season where he's healthy and the team gets a real swing at the postseason. In 21 that was his first taste of the post season and his first playoff series as #1 guy on a team. He clearly was thrown off by being targeted and needed some time to adjust. In 23 he was hurt in the postseason and this past year a freak injury kept him out of the playoffs entirely. Give him at least one real shot to prove himself before we write off an All Star averaging 25 and 10 who has shown a willingness to try to grow and adapt for the benefit of the team.
Agreed. I never liked him as the #1 option, but #2-3 option on any given night, with the attention off of him offensively he could be a legit threat.

I think the Knicks made these roster moves to help / pull weight off Randle. JB/Bridges/OG allows him to fall back and not have to do so much on the court. He no longer has to be the man with the ball in his hand and running the things on the offensive end. Randle is going to stay in the orange and blue.
What does he do other than offense that is so special?
@@yagotta2495Well when all of them was on the floor, the Knicks were +25, best rebounding team, and he was averaging 35 while Brunson still was dropping 25 a game. 6 assist, 10 rbs. Hard to give up a player with stats that’s similar because only 2 ppl put up better all around stats than Randle. Plus his contract is basically the 3rd most team friendly contract
I think that's where the problem will be with him. How he reacts to no longer being the focus of our offense. He becomes petty and emotional when things don't go his way even if the team is doing well.
I think he could have been back for the second round, if not the first, of the playoffs. I think he was trying to make a statement like we wouldn't do much without him and when he seen JB going off he instead chose to have surgery. I think in his mind he's more about preserving himself because he doesn't see himself as part of what we're doing.

Note that Randle is no longer the main option, I think it only makes sense to see what this team can do with a healthy Randle, OG and Mitchell.
Ideally, add like to see them keep Randall and add someone like Kessler to share time at the five with Mitch…

@@boogymanjones5288they came from the fact that houston hasnt extended him yet but a deeper dive shows they havent because they want to have max flexibility next off season and his cap hold is much smaller than his extension would be and they can match any offer. Hes not going anywhere.

IMHO - the aim should be to replace iHart's productivity and role without giving up Randle. If we have to give up players in addition to picks in a trade, then it should be Deuce, Sims. You then let that team cook for half the season, to evaluate whether they have enough to win the East.
If the experiment doesn't show signs of working - then you Trade Randle at the deadline for picks and expiring contracts.
Bad plan. Name one team that would be willing to give up expiring contracts and picks for Randle. The whole Randle convo revolves around the fact Knicks fans think he's a borderline MVP and the rest of the league sees him as worthless.

Randle such a good player. I don’t know why he gets so grossly underrated, when he’s a perennial all star and all nba player. I think we have to re-examine the context of why. He had some poor playoff performances, but we have to remember, he was coming off an ankle injury in one series and didn’t have a strong roster around him in the other. The Knicks weren’t the same team when we lost against Atlanta, and he was hurt in the Miami series. We forget how he dominated Cleveland that series and I have no doubt that when healthy he’s gonna be an integral piece on our championship run. I predict career highs in rebounds and assists 24-25. Let’s go Knicks ! Also who ele is a free agent that year. Might be beneficial to free up space if someone like Giannis becomes available. But don’t know the free agent class yet.
N! Randle driving us crazy dribbling in to traps and turning the ball over when all he had was Quickly and Barrett. He has untimely injuries doing the playoffs. He's a definite asset.

Randles all-star votes came from the same dudes that didn't recognize Brun, and though JR should be in the 3point contest. those accolades don't amount to much with a 9.9 playoff efficiency rating.
I would like Leon Rose to keep him until that trade deadline before the Allstar game. If Randle can score like he did last year, let's keep and figure out the extension contract.
I want to keep Randle before he got hurt last year he was averaging 25 PPG, 6.7 assists, 5 rebounds. How do you trade that away? Plus all the moves we have made take heat off of him. He was passing the ball nice he might start looking to pass the ball first and work on his 3, plus he can drive. We need to keep him. I like Randle a lot, he’s usually durable to.

To be fair... Randle has been much like Arod was as a playoff performer. Great in the regular season but not the postseason.

We are yet to see a fully healthy Julius Randle in the playoffs in his Knicks carrer so hopefully this is the year and he’s now surrounded with amazing talent so I think if he is fully heathy then we can win it all

Hes making well over 50 mil the next 4 yrs, which id assume in future years will put us at that 2nd apron (which REALLY limits any moves you can do). I’d say, if ya gotta move JR, get back a “starting caliber” Center, a decent enough role player, and get back some picks to replenish what ya moved in the Bridges trade.
I want no part of KAT on the Knicks, but I'm also not trying to give Randle a contract extension after the 24/25 season either. I'm not completely against trading Jules, it would just have to be for the right player, and I'm not sure that player is available yet. KAT definitely isn't that player!

To me no team have a Randle type of player so, that's a huge advantage to us. I would try to get a center without losing Randle. I would try to include McBride first. Also I wouldn't want to pay Randle max money. If giving that kind of doesn't hurt the team a small maybe. But his playoff showing has been terrible.

Randle deserves at least until the trade deadline with the knicks. Jalen started ice cold last year through November. It was jules that was leading the team in November and december. Bring him back and let him play with the guys who followed him!

I think this is way too soon and you at least need to test out Randle with this team. I honestly think he could be better than KAT for this team. KATs contract is horrendous, makes double what Randle does, is soft, will not offensive rebound is not a good defender and will end up regretting this trade IMO. Randle deserves a shot with this team, if it doesn’t work out, then trade him

Before we got Brunson, we knew Randle might not be here for our ultimate championship run because he holds the ball too much, forced shots and was old compared to the young core we were building. Fast forward and our best players are in their prime, Randle may very well be breaking down and we have landed multiple, dominant defenders who can score along with a superstar point guard. With a yearly cap challenge, Randle is not an optimum player for this group ( poor in past playoffs too). The real question is what can we get for him without trading any our other 8 guys?
