Hello ladies and gentleman and thank you for watching. Allow me to address a few recurring questions and comments. There have been quite a few suggestions, comments, or critiques about possibly moving the winch line to the left rear of the machine to pivot it around the tree rather than using the block & pivot method that Mike and I used. That is a good idea and it might have worked. I do not know for certain, because at that point we had freed up the tracks and especially the right side against the tree was free-rolling. When I performed the same technique earlier in the video to reposition the machine, the tracks were still locked and the machine pivoted on the locked tracks. Changing the line pull may have worked and it is/was good thinking. Showing the block & pivot move was just another "out of the box" type thing that perhaps someone could learn from. Also many have questioned why we didn't just fire up the machine and drive it out after we got it onto solid ground. I explained it in the video....but for those of you who missed my explanation, the machine had been submerged in water and the control panel was fried....the machine was, quite literally, "dead in the water". That was part of the reason we were called and brought Mike's rollback, so that we could haul it to the dealer for possible repairs. Thanks for watching and God bless.
Ron , got a question and it may be kinda stupid question/suggestion , but why dont you paint each cable to where you can easily see when you are at the 5 wrap mark. Use that bright safety orange spray paint and mark it?? This way you can easily see from a distance the mark and not have to walk all the way back to look ?
I have seen you do saves that seemed impossible! And watching this one, ya'll trying to figure out the best way to get it out...I was thinking...have you ever had a mess you just gave up on? Doubt it, because have been more than a few I didn't think we're possible, and you got the job done anyway! Was muddy already...but it would have been nice if it wasn't raining again!!❤
Gary; you also add in the fact that EVERYONE has input to each situation, and everyone knows what needs to be done. So, why not get a little head start? Mike is a good hand; imagine how this would have went if Raymond was there too...
Mike is no joke. I'm an electrical contractor and would LOVE to have an employee like him. Almost impossible to find anymore which is a sad commentary.

Just two hard working intelligent guys working together to solve a problem. No name calling, no swearing, no fights - how wonderfully boring... :) Nice work gents.
I've never heard Ron swear in any of his videos, and he's so laid back & easy going that I would imagine it would be pretty hard to start a fight with him. I totally agree with you on their intelligence & work ethic also. They are both hard working, respectable upstanding gentlemen who deserve our sincerest admiration & respect. GOD Bless you sir. ✝️👍
There aren't many people that would take the extra time to clean up these days. I was going to say the same thing you and several others said but y'all beat me to it lol.
This man knows that good service begets more good service and with the extra mile care he shows there, others in need of a truck will look to him more favorable. Brilliant marketing approach!
My name is Bob Compton, from maryland and I really enjoy your channel, I never miss an episode. I like watching big rig trucks do all the hard and sometimes dangerous jobs. Ron I consider your family part of my family.
I'm moving close to 7decades on this earth now...and I watch towmen channels for the memories sake...my dear sweet hubby was a Towman in cali...he yanked high end sport car repos at night for the extra $$$. He was shot and killed on a repo...its been decades now and the pain is still as strong as then... My sweet hubby never left for work without saying a prayer with me...similarly Ron always asks for prayers for all those injured as well as for their loved ones... Is there any way possible we can clone Mike about 5 or 6 times?! To say he is a hard worker is an understatement… I don’t think I can actually describe just how great and hard of a worker Mike is! The two of you make an amazing team!
When the bucket was about to catch the tree I was yelling at my screen “hook up the chain on the left and pivot it around the other way like you did to miss the tree!”
Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching. I would consider Ron washing the man’s driveway even though not obligated to constitutes yet another act of integrity. Keep up the good work and work ethic. Stay safe.
I'd have gotten it even cleaner if that guy's insurance company was paying me the hourly rate for a rotator plus a second truck, just saying. Leave it as you found it is professional and expected in that situation, but if I were the guy writing that check to Mr Pratt, I'd prefer to handle the cleanup myself LOL. I love that the insurance company can watch the video of these guys working together efficiently and doing the entire job start to finish.
Great watching you and Mike work together. You remind me of my late husband and his best friend remodeling our old house (built 1903), They did all the work themselves; they worked so well together, a couple of neighbors came by just to watch them work. lol.
That Rotator sees nearly as much action off-road as it does on. I enjoy seeing all these odd jobs that come your way, and your solutions to getting them done. Adapt and overcome... another job well done. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Ron, one of the things that I respect most about you is how you work with your crew. You are always letting them know when they have a good idea, suggest something that you haven't thought of or are explaining why you are telling them what to do. I would have loved working for/with you. Stay safe and God bless
Mike is an extremely hard worker. He has the knowledge and gets things done before he’s told what to do. Self starter and definitely not afraid to get dirty. Mike is a huge asset to Midwest Towing. Ron you are the glue that holds everything together. Interesting watching the 2 of you. Thanks
Great video for the health conscious. Cardio, gymnastics, weight lifting and a nice mud spa. I can't believe the stuff you get into. Nice job as always. Thank you for sharing.
Yeah, they've got it figured out. Most people PAY to go to a gym & work out, or a spa for a mud bath. But Ron & Mike are GETTING PAID while also getting the health benefits. Take notes people, THIS is how it's done! GOD Bless you.✝️👍
When I saw that, I was thinking "Well, that should be easy, Ron generally gets at least two cameras worth of footage, so it's more a question of if the client wants more/his own on top of that." And this is why Ron runs cameras in the first place, because certain entities want footage. Cops want it for evidence trails; insurance wants it if they accidentally damage something they shouldn't have (or to verify the billing if insurance thinks it's warranted). RUclips is just a side bonus (and a fair amount of footage won't make it to RUclips due to Ron's policy on not posting videos of deaths or lots of blood).
Well all I gotta say is, thank goodness for that remote rig on the truck. Can't fathom running back and forth to hit the switch. That's one do all tow truck. Man and machine tackling the job. Good job 👍.
Ron, I rearlly renjoy your videos. Your problem solving is second to none as is your equipment and gear. You trat your crew with respect and dignity. If were 30 yrs younger i would love to work for you. I worked in steel mill many years ago and did a lot of rigging with chains slings and shakles. You bring me back to those days. Wayne K.
@ron pratt Thank you for posting your videos. I am disabled vet and sometime stuck in the house for days. I watch and see the tireless work you put into your business and videos. I do not wish difficult recoveries on anyone but i am always entertained and impressed how you and your crew handle difficult recoveries. Thank you for the hard work.
SUPER RECOVERY Ron !!!!!. Good bank shots off all them trees. Thanks for taking us along. Nice job Mike !!!. Now you hear Ron even when your taking a Nature Break, LOL.
That was one tough job!!! Done by pros!!! I was "a little lost after the redirect", but so enjoyed the outcome. Thank you so much for the upload. Yall never cease to amaze me. Be safe, God bless!
Mr. Pratt, you are such a gentleman! The care and engineering knowledge you apply to all your assignments-for instance here to make sure the tree isn't damaged-aways impresses me. I watch those Russian towing disaster videos and I just wonder what you'd say. I suspect you'd laugh and say "Gosh darn it!" and try so hard not to chew someone out.
Even with dealership repairs, that machine will never be spot-on again. I'd be moving it along as soon as possible. If the advert's honest though, I wouldn't expect to get too much for it. Flood damage can be a real pain.
Awesome , Two hours of Ron Pratt darn now I can’t mow the lawn. , My wife doesn’t panic when she gets lost , She just changes where she wants to go , Thanks Ron & Mike
Thanks for your work Ron, especially when you're trying to concentrate on the job at hand while also being very conscious of your filming, you definitely do not need a membership to a fitness club, you get your workout, 2 thumbs up and God bless you friend!
I love the long videos like this! The trees and wash were a challenge but at least all of the utility cables were buried on this job. As always, be safe and God bless you, your crew and your equipment!
Good video Ron and Mike really enjoyed watching the thinking process in the way you and Mike work together. Respect for the cleaning of the drive that was a good professional touch
Ive been in pipelining for 17 yrs and We always tighten the Clevis bolt down then back it off a 1/4 ...And were hooking D8T together. Any wheres from 2 too 12 Dozers. And Ive never seen or heard of any problems from doing it that way. We use those straps like you have also.. Tough straps...I hate it when someone hooks my clevis and doesnt back it off. Actually I watch too make sure they back it off...Great Video...Thats going to be an Expensive Fix on that skidsteer...
1:45:37 And that’s what separates your company from others…that attention to detail and treating the customers as you would want to be treated. Great job to the both of you.
Ron thank you for another great video it is good to see a professional use the skills they have learnt over the years. God bless you and the rest of your crew. Cleaning the driveway was a class act. 🙏🙏🙏🇨🇦
Love watching you two work together. Couldn't help but think that if you'd have switched back to the left corner on the pull around the tree, you'd've been able to pivot the bucket back the other way to miss the tree.
Good job guys. Very interesting to watch that recovery. Good interaction with your customer and I’m sure he was glad you didn’t leave him with a muddy driveway even though he told you to pull it up onto it.
You can't believe it moved the Tator, I can't believe the concrete slab didn't pop as close as the pad was to the seam in the concrete. Nice Job Ron. Like others have said Mike is really turning into a great help. Does stuff so you don't have to.
Maybe the best of Midwest (Ron) to date! I have been watching other recoveries (different channels) and I return to find Ron Pratt to be great viewing pleasure.
Hello Mr. Ron my name is Joe from Michigan I never miss a show I used to drive a truck and yes I have had to have my trucks towed y'all do a great job but a dangerous one at that I cant stress about the safety facts.MOVE OVER AND SLOW DOWN. Thank you and God Bless.
Slow and steady wins the day...... well done Ron & Mike good job under unfavourable situation but a least no overhead lines or heavier rain and lightning stay safe and God bless all of you
Ron i just finished watching the video and I'm wore out, i feel like I walked up and down that hill all day, that was as usual a great recovery to watch thanks for taking the time to show us the video of your job i really enjoyed it god bless
I LOVE the new headsets and how they allow you to introduce “towing ground audio” to your video! I was able to follow along with your thoughts as you grabbed, set up, and adjusted your gear. One heck of a pull! This was a pleasant way to spend an evening!
That was a nice piece of rigging there. From one heavy operator to another. And yeah. Deff class move cleaning that man's driveway off before you left.
Ron, just watched it (Wed 8th Sep) from Liverpool, very interesting. I liked when you took the Skid steer back to the Main Dealers and they washed it before starting work. There are so many videos on RUclips of people getting old equipment etc that hasn't been started for xx years and starting work without cleaning it first - if they did that they would know what they were dealing with and make the subsequent work so much easier and cleaner.
Ron sorry for loss of your dad. Sounds like you were close. Loss my dad, over 40 years ago. We weren't close, I left home at 19, 160 miles away after that. He was quite man, I was only kid to be be by him when he past, right away I thought so much I didn't know about him, you were blessed to be around him. God bless
Another great video, Ron. thanks for including that "behind the scenes" content. There is so much more than just "hook it up and yank it out". I especially like the fast-frame recap you include at the end, showing this from multiple angles. Looking forward to your nest video. Stay safe.
On your cables, when you get to the min wraps you need/want on your cable drum, paint the cable at the end of the boom so that you know how many are left at a quick glance (i.e. a yellow stripe for 10-15 wraps, a red stripe for 5-6 or whatever your limit is). This will help you from having to keep checking the drum on these long pulls.
Neat idea but only works if boom is all the way in. Not knocking it but it is a but limiting in usefullness. Still, I'd probably take that suggestion to heart if I had equipment like this
@@chriskulpa4056 of course the boom extension is to be considered. If they put 5, 10, 25 wraps on their drum and fully extend the boom, the markings would still mean there was “x” wraps left, basically whatever THEY wanted as a guide marking. It was just a suggestion to improve safety and ease of use. They obviously do just fine without my suggestion but it was just that. If I owned the tow truck, I’d do it the way it made sense to me and my team.
@@talonpilot I think you have a very good idea. I have a winch on my Jeep so I'll do exactly what you are suggesting. Currently I use the soft line (non-metallic) since it weighs about 25% of what the wire rope weighs. Most of the time I only use about 50 ft. of the 90 ft. available.
Ron that part where you told Mike that his backing beeper was working maid me remember when I had one on my 93 ford ranger I had put it on there just to let people know I was there. Be safe my friend and Bless you.
Well done, those skid steers a a pain when they are dead, I like the touch at the end of you cleaning the mans drive, you got it right, it shows you care about the way you work.
Ron, I'm a mechanic for a municipality and I see far too often people with the mindset of "That's not my job" and "Not my problem" when it comes to going above and beyond, even when it's something as small and simple as you washing off this gentleman's driveway once you were done. Seeing how you always take pride in doing everything right and to completion, no matter the circumstances, is always a breath of fresh air. I wish there were more folks out there with your dedication and work ethic, and as a young guy in the industry, I can only aspire to be like that. So thanks for the motivation, and keep on doing what you do best!
Ever thought of using colors to mark your line? That way you know exactly how much is on your drum... Mark the last 50 or so feet of line. Love the vids
Only problem with that is the paint used to mark it wears off very quickly... when I was in the army we tried painting a green band every 50 ft with the 7-10 wraps painted yellow and wraps 1-6 being painted red but the grease/oil blend we had to use to keep the cables clean and properly lubricated would eat the paint in short order and required repainting every 3rd month
That job was very muddy. It took a lot of work to get the machine unstuck from the mud . Because of the years of experience. You made job look easy. Have a great day and may God bless you and your family and employees. Stay safe. And waiting for the next
As always you do a very professional job most wrecker service co. around where I live would've left the person's driveway muddy they wouldn't have took time to wash it off ! I like your way of doing the job ! 👍👍
William From Australia Love your show . great work and respect for others . You can see Mike loves working with you and tries his very best . God bless you all . These day we all need good stuff like this to watch
When you were trying to get the bucket around the tree how come you didn’t just connect to the chain on the left side of the machine? Wouldn’t it have pulled enough from that side to rotate the machine and pull the bucket away from the tree?
I remember watching Grants Wrecker Service in Mullins, SC where I grew up do something like this with logging equipment. I have seen him pull a mostly buried bulldozer out of the woods before. He didn't use a rotator but a wrecker he built. The thing was a beast. More complex rigging than this but equally impressive. Love watching you and Mike work together, looks like fun times.
How long is the cable
Ron , got a question and it may be kinda stupid question/suggestion , but why dont you paint each cable to where you can easily see when you are at the 5 wrap mark.
I never cease to be amazed at the skill and practicality needed to do your work. Another fascinating watch.
You know you’re a fan when you automatically say in concert with Ron “stow the boom at 8°”!
@1:35:45
hello
Hello! Good morning Ron! I hope you having a good day!
I love the long videos of yours Ron Pratt because I like the videos so I can learn how you learn about the rotator Ron Pratt
You and Mike make a great team when it come to recovery, Mike great work sir
Slow and steady wins the day...... well done Ron & Mike good job under unfavourable situation but a least no overhead lines or heavier rain and lightning stay safe and God bless all of you
Ron i just finished watching the video and I'm wore out, i feel like I walked up and down that hill all day, that was as usual a great recovery to watch thanks for taking the time to show us the video of your job i really enjoyed it god bless
My favorite sound bite from the video is when Ron said you know I can hear you humming right.
I LOVE the new headsets and how they allow you to introduce “towing ground audio” to your video! I was able to follow along with your thoughts as you grabbed, set up, and adjusted your gear. One heck of a pull! This was a pleasant way to spend an evening!
Yep, great start of the weekend seeing Ron do another job
Reminded me of the pickup that went off road down the hill lost a tire assembly onto the woods. The number 1duo prevails again. 👍😀
Another perfect recovery! It took a while but it’s Midwest Truck 1, Loader 0, just the way I like it!
That Mike is a smart man and a hard worker. Give him a hands up for us.😊
Nice video Ron and Mike. Really enjoyed watching the whole process of getting the machine out.
Stay safe.
You two earned your paychecks getting that one out! Always great to see a successful recovery like that. You've got a talented team working with you!
I am surprised that the driveway did not crack under the weight of the rotator a very good driveway
We need more 2hr job site videos on RUclips.
I’m a Blue Collar that’s turned White Collar. Great content to watch while working in my office.
Class act. Love how conscientious you are with your work.
A simple, but technical job, well done both. Thanks for sharing and stay safe all.
2 hour video? Very much thanks for taking the time and effort to put this together! It was a great rescue of a skidsteer :)
Well done, those skid steers a a pain when they are dead, I like the touch at the end of you cleaning the mans drive, you got it right, it shows you care about the way you work.
It was a long pull for the Tator but it did the job. Great job Ron & Mike. God bless
Tator vs. Takeuchi: Tator won by a longslide.
Ha! I love it…a Pratt fall…that didn’t get missed. It was a gem within the mud and well enjoyed.
Keep up the good work, Sir.
IMO Ron and Mike makes the best team. Well done, guys! Stay safe and God bless. :-)
You forgot Talon.... he's pretty good too!
Ron and Mike a job well done. I have been following you for several years and have learned a lot of new things. Keep up the good work.
Keep up the good work. I feel guilty watching you and Mike work so hard in poor conditions.
As always you do a very professional job most wrecker service co. around where I live would've left the person's driveway muddy they wouldn't have took time to wash it off ! I like your way of doing the job ! 👍👍
Love this channel
Only channel I’m subscribed to that I would watch a 2 hour video.
William From Australia Love your show . great work and respect for others . You can see Mike loves working with you and tries his very best . God bless you all . These day we all need good stuff like this to watch
Good work
Ron you and Mike make a good team on specialized recoveries like this one. Great job, handled safely !! God Bless
Looks like a crossover special with letsdig18. :D
I like the way you work.
Safety first, no shortcut and nobody injured.😊
When you were trying to get the bucket around the tree how come you didn’t just connect to the chain on the left side of the machine? Wouldn’t it have pulled enough from that side to rotate the machine and pull the bucket away from the tree?
Mike has come a long way. It's great to see. Be safe and God Bless
You might have been able to hook to the left side and spin it the other way also.... just suggestions.
I was thinking the same thing but that block was smooth.
