- Billy Corgan’s NWA’s future has been up in the air for sometime now with their future still unknown. Right now they are airing their weekly show on twitter after their deal with CW expired upon WWE NXT going there. The last few weeks they’ve been airing parts of NWA 76 aka their 76th anniversary show, and it’s all been showing is how far this company has fell. Today we’re gonna finish off the remaining episodes and check then out, we watched the first couple parts recently and they weren’t looking too good, so here we go again I guess… like the video and subscribe as we’re discussing the finale of NWA 76…

Remember when Nick Aldis and Cody Rhodes had a 2 out of 3 falls match as the main event of NWA 70th anniversary ppv, in 2018? How I miss those simpler times in NWA.

The NWA was on the right track a few years ago when Nick Aldis was the champion, but then Billy Corgan's saw fit to start booking stupid angles, nonsense matches and people with little to no talent. The embarrassing nonsense is the reason Nick Aldis left the NWA to begin with. Billy Corgan started listening to the wrong people and ruined the whole thing.
Thats because Corgan is an idiot. I completely agree with your assessment. I have seen better talents at my local indy show. Despite spending a decent amount of time in the " biz" Corgan doesnt seem to really understand how to do pro wrestling.
Well he wasn't booking it, Dave Lagana was and it was going as good as it was going to be until the Pandemic and Speaking Out got Dave. Then William Took over personally and shat the bed

That's all true but in fairness they had a ton of bad luck too. They were just getting into their stride when covid hit, some of their talent got poached quickly and IIRC one of their execs was exposed in a scandal of something that happened before he joined NWA.
@@Sammspade10 NWA Power was being taped in a studio with a very small audience, so I don't see how Covid effected them that much. Billy Corgan should have been smart enough and business minded enough to sign his talent to contracts so they couldn't be poached, and there's plenty of people in the wrestling business with more knowledge that would have been a better executive than David Lagana... It all boils down to incompetence, man. The NWA's downward spiral started when they pandered and placated to the absurd cancel cultures ridiculous meltdown over Jim Cornette's 40 year old starvation joke because "Oh god! He said fried chicken, so it has to be about black people!" Incompetent owner, worthless executives and a brainless audience ruined the NWA.
They just need to put NWA Power back on RUclips. A few adjustments can be made and they could getback to pre-COVID levels of momentum.

Let's be honest, it was pretty much dead when it got banished to the CW's streaming app that nobody used. At this point we're just watching a mummified corpse shambling around and hoping that their remaining decent talent can get out with their careers intact.

The problem I have is that the video’s title says “The End,” not “Pretty Much The End." It led me to believe that there was some news that NWA had shut down - and not just recapping another part of this anniversary show.

Once Nick Aldis left over a disagreement with Billy, that was the beginning of the end. Aldis made it clear that Billy didnt care about creating good story lines around the NWA title. Corgan's booking is horrible with a bunch of comical matches and not serious story lines. NOW we know WHY TNA didnt give him booking power and only wanted his money. Looks like TNA turned out to be right. Billy needs to bring in someone to do the booking and bring credibility back to the promotion. He also needs to come back to RUclips and rebuild his audience.

Billy Corgan is proof that not any run of the mill pro wrestling fan can actually run a pro wrestling company. NWA right before the pandemic was an excellent throwback to classic 80's NWA in studio pro wrestling. The last time I watched NWA was about a year or two ago right before they got their CW deal but they still had shows on RUclips. But that last episode I watched on RUclips was so atrocious I stopped watching after maybe 5 minutes. It's almost as if Billy Corgan forgot what they started out to do in the beginning and he decided to go full Vince Russo. WCW 2000 Russo and not 1998 WWF Russo.

Funny how this was uploaded today. Unfortunately one of his other businesses that has host NWA ppv's had an incident yesterday, resulting in Corgan's mother in law getting hurt, and his son just escaping injury. A car plowed through his cafe yesterday.

The end of NWA or is it on hiatus for something big to happen and bring it back to life by storm? Never say never. I believe in the NWA and I won't give up on the product. Too much history and tradition to be buried forever.

IDK how anyone who watched any of their recent PPVs, especially that Sanhien show, that NWA would survive. Even aside from the cocaine spot, they had guys dancing, a match where there were gift boxes full of fun house style weapons.

Good grief... I watched the 76 show and it was fine. They put the biggest matches on the first episodes. The Pre-show matches were on the end of the broadcast run. The championship changes happened FIRST, so the next live shows made sense to the live audience.
This would be the perfect time for Billy Corgan to sell the National Wrestling Alliance to United Wrestling Network (UWN): Championship Wrestling owner David Marquez and Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling owner Scott D'Amore.

Honestly, I'm glad I can watch episodes again! Showing them on Twitter at least gives them worldwide exposure.
Bottom line, Billy Corgan is a very well off man, if he can afford to put the TV shows on Twitter for free because the income from ticket sales sustains the running costs, who are we to argue?
I have enjoyed NWA 76, will be looking forward to the Samhain shows that will follow.
I went to this and thought it was decent. I met like every wrestler and everyone was very happy. NWA shows are fun.
NWA is frustrating. They evidently have a limited budget per show, but they spend what they have in some strange ways. You can very easily make a solid weekly show out of some of their talent. Corino, Thrillbilly, Latimer and a few others can put on solid matches. The womens division has some solid talent too. Yet pushes and storylines are all over the place.
I agree fully here. There’s some talent I enjoy watching as well as finding enjoyment in the old school studio style wrestling show. I try to watch each week’s Power (I think they need to drop the whole “powerrr” part). Very much enjoy ThrillBilly & The Six, Blunt Force Trauma & especially Aron Stevens. Knox & Murdoch are good. And I sort of like the crazy Baron VonStorm angle with The Claw being used by the “deranged old” Storm. Dig The It Girls & Pretty Empowered on the female side. Can’t stand the Gimp BS nor the little person being so heavily involved in big storylines. Will keep pulling for NWA, just wish they could get it going better.

NWA fell hard after the pandemic, they lost all their big stars who had potential to AEW or WWE. Then Corgan did make some bad decisions (Tyrus) but I'm gonna agree to disagree. Jack Cartwheel is not my cup of tea, his style screams too indie to be on any kind of televised product, and his style is not for me. There's nothing with classic old school, simple wrestling matches.

Covid really messed the NWA up as a company. They were doing some really good stuff on Power in the small studio old school wrestling style.
They moved to Tampa for their tapings going forward. But that was just as the hurricanes were blowing through Florida.
Their most watched stuff was during the Covid era and shortly before. They were showing better wrestling than WWE and was a stepping stone towards AEW. Ever since the whole cocaine spot they went way downhill. I really hope it will be saved.
Plus, with a mid-match commercial on a taped show you shouldn't miss any of the action.
The fact I keep seeing this show up to my recommendation then when I check on it a different one 💀 really proves NWA not going anywhere
I think NWA is fine.The ladies division is quite good.Markova is a hardcore brawler and Ella teamed with both Kenzie Paige and Kylie who despite her inexperience is a natiural talent and maybe the best of the three.The guys have talent too and it’s okay to mix a bit of new school wrestling with the old school style.The only thing is when they do silly things like the whole thing with Rolondo and Eric Smalls or have goofy finishes.Billy needs a good booker cause it’s obvious with the departure of people like Nick Aldis and Jim Cornette that he has no clue what he’s doing.As a fan who wants all companies to succeed I wish them well

It’s sad that over 75 years of history have been just used and relegated to a better version of a small indie company. Even the new company Asé has better matches and they have barely been in for a year now.
It was so great all the way from the start and up until Nick Aldis left. I enjoyed it a lot. Now Thunder Rosa will go down as their biggest success.

I gave Billy Corgan's NWA a try at the end of 2021, and by the end of 2022, I was ready to give up. The booking was pathetic, there was too much bad comedy, and when they Matt Cardona jobbing to Rolando repeatedly, I said enough is enough. Corgan's a money mark, living out a fantasy, kinda like Tony Khan with a smaller budget. Nothing but a glorified indy show.
Your right, Tiffany Nieves also works in OVW. IMO she's really good. She can talk and normally cuts good heel promo's.
She’s the only female heel they have who’s character you truly love to hate..That’s why she was a great pick up for NWA.

I'm far from being a wrestling purist, but the first time I saw Jack Cartwheel's name on a PWG card I knew I would never watch one of his matches.
The day Jack Cartwheel changes his name is the day he gets a signed to one of the majors full time. He's got talent and good underdog energy but that name isn't it at all.

They do mid match Ads because it's almost a guarantee that anyone watching the match will stay and not turn the channel to not miss the rest of the match.

Honestly at this point the only way for NWA to save itself is to get rid of Billy and adopt a more modern style that has an emphasis on brawling and technical wrestling with zero comedy wrestling ffs.
NWA had potential and I was excited when it first was airing on RUclips (they need to put NWA Power back on there) I just don’t know what happened with this promotion…maybe they need to put a little more money into it, grab up some more established talents and put together a better booking team…a working partnership with TNA or one of the British groups could be beneficial too

I mean its been bad for years now, had some life left when Aldis was champion but soon as he left and they put it on Tyrus the absolute worst wrestler you could put it on ofc it was gonna just keep tanking. Then they have a segment on a ppv of James Mitchell snorting cocaine when they are about to sign a TV deal with CW and that ppv itself apparently did like 250 buys... Just amatuer hour over there and Corgan is just another guy who's a fan but doesn't know how to book but doesn't have the budget of a tony khan to pay wrestlers over the odds to stay
Colby’s WWE contract stuff fell through due to the WWE/UFC merger causing a hiring freeze.
That and he got busted with all of the drugs the first time WWE looked at him.
@ that argument doesn’t really hold a lot of water given how they had Matt Riddle under contract for so long….but he is local to the Carolina Wrestling Scene (his home base territory). Mans went on a whole goodbye tour with DPW being his last show on the Indys at that time.
@@AdrianM865 You're referring to the second tryout with WWE. I'm talking pre-DPW, Ugly Ducklings days in NC when Steve Corino got signed to talent relations and Colby got the call almost immediately. THAT time being busted for drugs hindered him because he went away for awhile. Then it took about 5 years for WWE to give him a second glance. Then he went on the DPW retirement tour and then, for unknown reasons, signed a contract with NWA.

I don’t understand how NWA or AEW is struggling with booking good shows when Scott D'Amore is out there as a free agent. I know Scott is running “Maple Leaf pro wrestling” but he has stated that he wants to get back into booking for a promotion. Tony Khan and Billy Corgan should be blowing up his phone right now!

I don't really know what folks expect Corgan to do with NWA. There is no big pool of amazing talent out there waiting to be signed up anymore. There just isn't. When there was, the NWA product was fun as heck to watch.

Man NWA was on a role where even The Rock tweeted it to give it props, now it's just so dam circus like that it's the main draw of these videos.
I hope they can one day turn it around, but things need to change.
Billy needs to hire some actually useful backstage guys. Bryan Idol, Aron Stevens and whoever else he has are not helping, particularly trying to bicker with anyone criticising the product on NWA's posts. Hiring more decent talent and not trying to go 2002 TNA minus anyone of name value isn't it.
When their affiliates are booking guys like Heath and Richard Holliday while Billy won't hire them for some reason... Dude needs to hire some decent help.

Honestly, a Samhain review is pointless. The NWA is like that old uncle who’s STILL trying to hold on to bad trends from 20-30 years ago. Granted, the wrestling industry is pretty late when it comes to trends anyway (I didn’t know people said “yeet” until Jey Uso), but the NWA is UNNECESSARILY late to these trends, or UNNECESSARILY corny.
This is really sad since NWA was once great and was a good place to see some future talent

What a traditional NWA wrestler. Reminds me of... nobody important.
People love to say these wrestling promotions gonna die, gonna falling out. And then whined about only WWE remains major in wrestling scene.
It's weird. Lots of wrestling promotions love to shot themselves into the foot and deserved to be failed. But we also need promotions like this so other wrestlers have a place to compete or shining. If it's all gone, They would have to went to other promotions and became jobber or veteran wrestler would became enchancement talent, Or outshined other young wrestler like we see in WCW, TNA before.
First HUGE mistake Corgan made was letting Cornette go for a comment absolutely no one was offended by. After that the views on youtube dropped week by week. Corgan has never had the money to throw behind this. Unfortunately in the current climate you need big bucks to launch a pro wrestling company. Corgan didnt have the resources to get a name talent signed. Sorry EC3 is not a name talent.

This company simply refuses to evolve. They're heavily pushing a slow, plodding style of wrestling like this was the 80's or early 90's WWF.
Maybe in a different time when wrestling as a whole was kinda slowing down and wasn't as popular, they would find a niche audience that liked their product, but with wrestling being on an upswing and so many alternatives in other forms of entertainment and streaming, the refusal to evolve will be their downfall.
