This scene was the pinnacle of the manga when I caught up. Bro One Punch Man style punched a nuke away from the base and stood there taking the shockwave to protect some unconscious soldiers. It’s bittersweet that he got taken into custody but there is not much they can do,they are still lacking in information about him
This was 20/10. I was so mind blown. I had no words for this episode. It was beyond fire. The twist Kafka exposed himself to everyone, (which eventually would happen) saving everyone and Mina not killing him on the spot (cause of childhood memories) and instead arresting him. The soundtrack, production, animation, voice actors, was all perfect. Easily best episode yet.
I assumed Kafka would be found out in the finale. I never expected it this episode after pulling a Dark Night Rises moving the bomb away at the end; then revealing himself.
As did I.
The way kafka one punched that bomb was awesome af 😮🔥🔥🔥 kafka revealing his kaiju form was like how eren's reveal of being a titan in AOT
My wife was so concerned about me when she saw how focussed i was and at times getting teary eyed, she thout i was undergoing some trauma or something😅.

Oh damn, Kafka really made a show of the reveal. When I saw the title of the episode, I thought he would end up revealing himself to Hoshina to save him but this was a lot worse, so many important individuals and normal corps members all saw his transformation or realized it was him from Ichikawa's shout and Mina apprehending him.
I am really curious to see how his situation will be handle since No. 9 has made it even harder than before for them to be able to trust a humanoid Kaijuu even though Kafka's situation is very different.
Then there's No. 10 who had emotions and was able to converse with Hoshina so I could see Hoshina feeling like Kafka had intentionally been likable for an ulterior motive and he might even have feelings of betrayal since he liked Kafka so much. Mina and Kafka's conversation is going to be so intense, I can already see Kafka feeling guilty.
"Hibino Kafa...no...Kaiju No.8" This line put the weight of the entire episode for me. I was anxious that he was going to transform to save the vice-captain, because we all know what flashbacks mean for characters; either power up or death. Only to see the Captain come in and start showing off the BIG guns. But to think Kafa took the biggest gamble yet, he knew what would happen to him, he knew weighed the possibilities of everything, wen he was doing his monologue apologies. The one thing is he didn't apologize ot Mina but instead went full power to save them all. He saw the risks, and took it, knowing how it would end, the look in his eye when he looked at her, and hers at his that spoke so much in that one silent moment. Beautiful, just beautiful.
On the other note, i agree with Brandon, when i saw the first punch, i went to hunt down the manga, and i binged read all of it, now i'm just waiting to see everything there animated with anxious fanboy glee. Loved the manga, loving the anime even more.
My last slip in, this has been the longest version of the theme song and now i am in full hunt mode to find that song. i know i may have to wait for the OST to be released but damn that track hits hard, every, single damn, TIME!

Was not expecting him to reveal it all in one go! Goddam! It makes sense they immediately take him into custody,.since they just found out that 9 has a human form. This was probably the best case scenario for him to reveal it here as opposed to some other random, non lethal situation.
It was only a matter of time, but he did it in an awesome way. Even saved some from the Shockwave.

Man did not expect the episode to play out like this. As I was for certain that Kafka would have transform when Hoshina was grabbed and squished by no 10. But instead Mina did come and save him, so after they defeated it by team work I thought that the danger was clear. Only to realize that a nuke was placed above them, which would have killed them all. If it was not for Kafka revealing his secret to everyone’s surprise. Especially Mina which looked especially shocked about finding out that her childhood friend is a wanted Kaiju. And how she needs to arrest him on the spot.
But I loved every other part of the episode as well. Like how the combat looked that Hoshina did, in how it looked as he did fly around when cutting the giant Kaiju. While also having flashbacks of him remembering that in the modern day people have moved away from swords. And instead just users guns for combat. But I really liked how captain Mina did take him in, as she could only focus on giant kaijus. So she would need someone who could take care of the smaller ones. And together they would have been such a powerful duo.
Also really liked the concept of if you use your suit to it full potential for longer periods of time. You will take damage as your body overheat from all that work
i read the manga and i dont think its fallen off. but everyone has his own opinions. Cant wait for season 2! Hoshina is by far my fav chac in the series and manga readers knows what im talking about
Idk what these so called manga readers talking about it never falls off! Its gets even better and crazier from here on out. You might even have a new favorite character or at least a second after you meet the captain of the first division. He's the goat 🐐🔥🔥🔥🔥

As soon as I saw the episode title I was on the edge for the time Kafka exposed himself. Then he didn't. And I was like "wait if Kafka isn't getting exposed, what secret is gonna get exposed?" and then he did.

when hoshina was about to get eaten and mina was aiming the laser cannon at the kaiju talking about how she found the right teammate.. my thought process went from oh shit he's lunch now . then oh shit he aint dead she's gonna save him . then to WTF SHES GONNA SHOOT EM BOTH?!?
I was so mindblown in this episode! Kafka's transformation into Kaiju no 8 was so awesome. And the rocket boosters on him even better.

I'm glad we got a little bit of comedy with Kafka's ugly cry lol, hopefully he and Ichikawa will be able to stand by their sides in the future but we're going to have get through the reveal first. I do wonder if the other members will treat Kafka completely different after he gets let go, I am not sure what conditions they will give him but I don't see them not using him so the others will most likely feel apprehensive about working side by side with a Kaijuu.
This episode was a 30/10 for me the animation, music the bad ass moments of this episode, and even the moment were hoshina was running after him wondering why he's so fast , I can't wait to see what happens next bc my mind was blown this episode 🤯🤯
I can say the awesomeness is the same feeling with Frieren's battle with Aura episode, like after watching it you will stand up and say Bravo and clapping 👏. 😅

I think most of the reason people say the manga fell off is just because the wait in between the chapters and the stories pace but that’s just me😒
Loved this one & how they've planted just enough seeds of people No. 8/Kafka has saved. Even though he's a kaiju he has done enough for people to question can he be on their team, while others will of course oppose that notion. Between this and Wind Breaker, The New Gate & Chilling level 2 blah bla blah I'm really enjoying so much variety. Great vid as always now time to get ready for some pro wrestling.

I've seen people complaining about Mina jumping to arresting him but like? I'd be freaking out too, I don't blame her at all for falling back on her soldier training this crazy scenario.
And now for another long wait 'till next time...
I´m honestly surprised they even tried the arrest option.
Normally any Kaiju would be "shoot on sight". So at least they think Kafka can be reasoned with.

The Music and the Moment was so good here. Honestly if this is going to be a twelve episode season then I should have expected bit but I figured it would be more like 24 episode or something. so I didn't at all expect even by the title that it would be revealed so soon.

Hating things is just easier to write. It is popping up for so many properties. When truly bad things are not spoken of at all. That's when you know something is really bad.
Letting the third division get the win without Kafka and letting Kafka save the day in a single episode is great writing.
The third division, and by extension the other divisions, stay relevant as a fighting power in the story, since they took down a magnitude 9 that led a sneak attack. The vice-captain and captain having limits but being strong by working together implies other characters could do the same, it is a team effort.
Kafka proves he is a badass and selfless hero by going Yolo to save everyone. Saving everyone feels like a legitimate reason for the defense force to maybe not kill/dissect/experiment on him immediately. Everyone in the division who was saved has an understandable reason to have a change of mindset towards Kaijuu 8, not just a flimsy reason.
It is solid writing.

I am fully updated with the Manga. The animation effectively hypes up the story.
Episode 10 is a good episode. Like you I thought the reveal was when Kafka was going to go to Hoshino's rescue, but Mina stepped in. I did not see that bomb twist coming. We also learned that Kaiju No.8 can take a nuclear explosion in the face and not fazed by it.
I'm glad I found this video because this anime is off the hook. I haven't found an anime that I really liked until I found this one.

This episode was literally perfect.
The animation was a bit wobbly compared to the previous episodes, But production IG went insane.
I was thinking about just how they would adapt this and i was just thinking okay, This is where the show would probably end. But no we're getting the best arc NEXT EPISODE!!!
I was so sure the episode would end before that huge reveal. But they reminded me why I love this series, absolute hype.
What I like, that the anime is doing better than the manga, is building character relations. It really does make you care for them as things go along. And the heat is just going to keep getting turned up now.
A few scenes I don't like, that they changed from the manga, is only because it confused the audience without those scenes/words. For example when 9 went to the car, back some episodes, he said things that clarified his action.
Regardless though I am really enjoying the episodes and happy so many people are now enjoying it too!

I read this part of the manga but couldn't quite recall the exact details of the fight...just that I knew Kafka's secret would be out.
Man I loved this episode! The production team did a great job 👍 And I think you were right about the story elements. It was a bit of a ride with Hoshina struggling, a bit of back story, Kafka almost having to intervene, the 3 Division team work, and Mina with the coup de grâce...only for Kafka needing to step up and deflect a nuke lol

Nah they say it fell off because the focus shifted to his teammates.
They just impatience to waiting it's released 😂, since they need to waiting 2 week just for one chapter (the author also usually tooking a break after 3 chapter released before)

I think my biggest worry for Kafka would've been what Kikoru said to him earlier that he would probably be taken in for lab experiments.
So many people got upset about him being taken into custody but that's 100% more realistic since they know nothing about him and they thought he attacked some of the defense group earlier. No clue that he saved our 2 boys either.
Animation was nuts and I loved Kikoru coming in to save the VC Hoshina.
And if we think again about it, Mina literally just try to "save" him, if it's others captain, He probably would get killed instead
@@ahsanallamunjan Yeah I just find it weird that people were saying this was super cringe when IMO, if he were to be set Scott free and thanked etc. it would've been more cringeworthy. This was the only realistic outcome for him. And the best one.

got to read chapter 32 of this manga, the artwork for the last part of the ep is actual fire in the manga, the impact of the punch and the body language of all the characters, is it weird if i still think the manga still did it better?
not weird at all, I read the manga too, I'm caught up currently, its my new fav ongoing shonen jump manga, its peak, and I do think the manga did it better but this episode was still amazingly done.

I’m hoping they don’t do the trope where he has to earn back everyone’s trust over the course of multiple episodes. I mean I get it if they’re scared or feel betrayed because he didn’t trust them with this secret but imo that story trope has been so many times before and it’s so predictable because you know they’re gonna end up right back to how they were before anyway. If they do it for only one episode though and it’s only one or two of them that he’ll have to earn the trust of again, then that’ll be ok. That’s just my opinion though. I’ll still watch and enjoy the show regardless lol.

The people who say it fell off are the folks who got frustrated at the inconsistent chapter releases. Kn8 is fabulous when binged, but painful when given in 2-3 week bites.

You have no idea how validated I feel right now. The OP mc that hides his OP is by far one of my least favorite tropes in anime. Mina honestly just looked so heartbroken to me. I feel so bad for her. Especially since I've seen that the way Mina portrays herself is not her true self. Hoshino is a beast. Even though he isn't my favorite character I respect him. It is always a good time when kikoru and ichikawa are on the screen and you have to think they were both thinking "oh shit is he really about to do this?" The anime overall is a 9/10 and this episode cemented it for me. I can not wait to see where the production team takes this series.

Most people seem to say the manga fell off because of pacing from what I've seen. Apparently they really start diving into other characters on the squad and a lot don't like how the main plot stalls for this? If true they probably should have spread out the character stories with more main story happening in between.
to be fair they probably are just impatient since the chapters release every 2 weeks, unlike something like one piece. the manga has definitely not fallen off though, I'm completely caught up on the manga, its peak. the stuff with the other characters' squads already passed anyway, right now we're in a massive defense force vs kaiju arc, kakfa and mina are actually fighting alongside each other right now, the manga has been building towards it, everyone that quit the manga early will probably regret it now. if you don't believe me go watch animeballsdeep's kaiju no 8 videos if you don't mind spoilers, he's covering the manga. also if you want a peek at the latest chapter where their tag team begins, doffydaze covered it.

I think kaiju n.8 is a "my hero academia if it was good" situation.
mha isn't a bad anime obviously, but it does so many things wrong, the characters who aren't the mc/ the mcs feel useless. And the world itself doesn't make a lot of sense. They break their rules constantly to make plot holes to serve the story, they make the useless mc powerful through luck and a video montage, they change the power levels of the characters just to serve the story.
Here instead Kafka helps with his knowledge, not his super power. Kikoru helps the vice-captain cause she's almost as strong as him, but not enough to cut the kaiju on her own, so her power level isn't altered. The normal soldiers distract N.10 so the vice and kikoru can keep on cutting him, all of this to allow Mina to destroy his core. Everyone has a value and the only reason why Kafka had to intervene was because there was a bigger threat for everyone. Everyone would have died in that situation from the worst soldier to the captain herself. Yes, he would have been fine but everyone else would have died.
Not to mention that during the entirety of the episode, I couldn't predict what would have happened.
Would have the vice-captain died? they told us that someone would have died eventually so...
Would they have had other squads intervene and save the day?
Would have Kafka found a way to save the vice without getting exposed?
The possibilities were infinite, I could have never predicted what would have happened next. That's what I liked the most about this episode.
If showing side characters and giving them time to grow, seems like that manga fell off..
It's not a typical manga where Main character has to be in every chapter..
Those who are saying The manga fell off.., doesn't know anything about developing a side character.. so that they can work as team or character development of every character is important. Be it Reno, Iharu, Kikoru, Hoshina, Mina and Kaiju No. 9 is important
Kafka gonna be a new pet for Mina, she'll have him and the tiger as kaiju killing tag team.
