Love the Grom series.Only have a Granite so far. This one is definitely joining the rc collection. The only thing it's really lacking is a fan on the motor. It can get seriously hot. Installed a cheap fan, and it's all good now. 👍
Just picked one up myself I waited specifically for this one because I prefer more scale models and I knew this one was going to come with the upgraded diffs stock speeds about 23 mph I grabbed a HR adjustable motor mount and a 21 tooth pinion and that's got me up to about 28 mph on a full pack great little truck for the cash tons of upgrades on aliexpress as well
Loving small scale. Did you get your Reflex 14MT back up-and-running? Would you consider a long-term review of it? 14b and 14MT look great… but Facebook groups report endless problems; Servo failure (like your video,) stripped gears in various spots, etc. Would love your take on long-term use. Thanks for this video!
I just bought one and was looking for a way to storage charge the battery. I found out it isn't actually a Lithium Polymer battery but a Lithium Ion battery. It even stands on the battery itself. Found out as long as you don't store it fully charged it's okay. It cuts out 6.94 volt (3.47 per cell) and is almost 1 volt above the bare minimum of 2.5 volt per cell for li-ion. Is it a bad thing? The fact it isn't clearly documented is not good att all, because if it is your first, and you buy a bigger brushless, it may lead to let you think you can leave a depleted Lithium Polymer as is instead of storage charge it. For what I bought it, it is actually a perfect system for a take it with me on a family vacation while being able to charge it through a capable powerbank. The other thing which should be mentioned: you truly need a capable charger whether it's a powerbank or wall charger. Best to use is a 20+ watt USB PD 3.0 charger. Only then you won't kill either the supplied Spektrum Charger or a generic USB charger powering it. If an USB charger is underpowered it won't even charge. Putting a deans T plug on the ESC will be the best option to a far better choice of 2S LiPo's, leaving the system stock with the IC2 connector and proprietary battery gives you the best setup for casual travel. Just my 2 cents on some missing information about the battery and charger. And my last 2 cents about building a brushless system in it, imho it's perfect as it is. The cost of a brushless system isn't worth it imo. And the stock speed is perfect for the whole setup. And a 380 brushed Spekrum motor replacement is just around 10-ish bucks and some soldering. So for longevity reasons it isn't necessary too.
if you're like me, you'll likely be disappointed by the clips on the granite grom. Also i swapped out the plug since the included batteries, while fine, are a PITA to charge. And who has any ic2 batteries?? this grom looks pretty darn cool tho.
You know who has a lot of ic2 batteries? Those guys who end up with a half-dozen groms and see those Losi nascars arriving soon. 🤣 I decided long ago never to buy a Spektrum smart charger, but now that I have a half-dozen of these RTR IC2 packs (along with the G2 from my promoto), I broke down and got a smart charger (and IC2 adapter🤬) to manage those packs. And while a full featured charger beats the USB dongle in nearly every way and will get the most out of those batteries, I still feel like a chump. 🤡
once again a great video I wonder which is more worthwhile for a beginner and which is more fun. mojave grom for 169 € (in germany) or the senton boost for 160€ (in GER) ?!... Because I think if you put some weights behind the rear axle on the Senton, it will give it more grip on the rear axle. 100g might be a little more or less weights behind the rear axle (fishing lead may don it) AND I THINK IT WILL BE MORE FUN THAN WITH A AWD SENTON AND MAYBE MORE THAN A MOJAVE GROM . what do you think ? Maybe good material for a video, because the senton is available in Germany for 160€ or around 140$. And a beginner can stick with the brushed motor and run it on 3S, which gives you around 30% more power witch is enough I think before converting it to brushless. I'm really wondering where you can get more fun for your money. And maybe you can make a comparison video out of it Senton Boost with weights VS Slash or an arrma video in which the Senton Boost competes against the Mojave Grom in price and fun comparison?! ....greetings from Berlin...keep it up
I really like it! I'm not sure if you gradually went harder on the throttle but it seems faster after a short period of time. Could it be breaking in the motor what I notice? If so, serious improvement can be reached by properly breaking the motor in in water. Maybe a cool experiment on the Granite. See if you can get the RUclips stock speed record 🤣🤣🤣
Has anyone else had issues with the battery or charger? Mine worked fine the first time but the next time the light on the charger keeps flashing red then green and acts like it doesn't know the battery is plugged up. Do they even make adapters to charge that battery on a real charger? I love the truck but those IC2 connectors are a joke. Spektrum chargers don't even have that size port. Mine doesn't at least.
@@richardbrown6762 I was using the USB port on my Spektrum charger. It's 5v 2a just as the book recommends. I didn't have a 2 amp phone charger block. It worked fine the first time. Then just red and green flashing the next. I did try a phone charger next but it did the same thing.
If i leave the usb charger plugged into the wall and then plug in a battery it takes a moment to recognize the battery. I also tried charging it off a laptop, and there just wasn't enough juice. I think it did the red and green flashing. A more powerful charging adapter might solve your problem.
@@wildgoose6596 I've used the USBC output on my Spektrum charger that is 5v 2a just like recommended. It did like you described the first time but after a few seconds it recognized the battery and started charging normally. After that I used every phone charger, and plug I had and nothing would work. I left it for a couple hours plugged in my charger and nothing changed. I'm not sure if the battery, charger, or both are defective. I'm going to try live chat with Horizon tomorrow. I haven't had time to mess with it this week. I really like the truck and I'm an Arrma/Spektrum fan but there is no excuse for that tiny oddball connector. That's some Traxxas level proprietary crap there. It's so goofy their own smart chargers don't support it. An IC3 would cost pennies more and take up negligible more space. Plus lots of other batteries and chargers would work.
@@RazorRC I ordered mine from Horizon when they still had them in stock but my friend wants one and even his local shops do not have them in stock. I think Arrma needs to double the inventory that they ship out to the US market. My only complaint about the company is replacement parts being available also. I want to buy a replacement body for my Mojave 4s and they have been out of stock for months. I never have that problem with new models from other companies. It's really starting to turn me off from buying more Arrma products 😔
It’s an amazing car, however the differentials and some of the cheaper plastic parts break really easily. Found myself already replacing both front and back differentials on both my groms
I start laughing. When you hold the card, I think we will collect these cards they look cool. If you want, you can put them carpet for MTG cards or inside sleeves for MTG if they fit
I don't mind brands putting their name on their chassis, but the catchphrase on the bottom of the tub is so cheesy. Are you listening Arrma? Stop doing that. A decal on a body is one thing. Moulded into the chassis is stupid. Also, the IC2 plug is lame, but easy enough to fix. Still a neat little rig. Not my scale preference but neat. I really enjoy my BLX Senton
They killed it with the Mojave Grom 💯
Great review!! Already pre-ordered!!! Cant wait! thanks for posting, glad youre feeling better!
Thank you!! 😊
i appreciate you continuing filming with that war going on in the background, coulda caught a stray bullet out there
Haha I was thinking, do I need eye protection?
Someone is firing at you!
Get to the choppaaa!!
Lot more than I was expecting kicking up alot of dust 🔥👍🏽💯💪🏽
Getting good grip from the 50 series tires
Hoping mine comes in today. Already got a set of Hot Racing shocks ready to put on for the skatepark
Nice!
@@RazorRC just picked it up!!!
Definitely a stunning truck especially that colour scheme😍
Can't wait till they finally arrive in Australia😱
Sweet review mate!
Thanks a ton! I love the color too!

Sorry to hear Covid found you. Hoping you’re back to 100%.
Thanks, got a bit of a hoarse voice but otherwise good.
I have a Blue version & just ordered a Red Black one 💯

I haven't driven it since, it's something I need to revisit.
Fun little car! My ProMoto came with that spektrum USB charger and my 2S takes 6+ hours 😩. Can’t justify the smart charger for that one battery.
Wow, is it a 5000mah?
Can you remove the drivers or are they required for the body to mount?

Put tape over the holes underneath the chassis that will help keeping dirt out of the motor 😮😅

If only arrma supplied subdued paint jobs like that for their 3s bxl line.
I don't like crazy arrma or traxxas paint jobs
This is one of the best paint jobs I've seen on an Arrma.
