  • In this video, Eric Wong reveals the process behind creating the so-called 'Bartlett style' of drawings. The truth is, there is no 'Bartlett style' - but what people usually refer to here are the fictional drawings that usually come from the university's Unit 10 with CJ Lim. Eric Wong is a multi-award winning student who worked closely with CJ in education and outside. To find out more about Eric and to get understand more about fictional drawings/the Bartlett check out my podcast episode with him here: • Ep 03: Drawings and Fi...
The step-by-step process will help university students gain insight into drawing methodology which is never taught in education. This tutorial/workshop was filmed as part of the 2020 MAD Con event by the MAD collective. Check out the MAD Collective RUclips channel for more about the groundbreaking event.

    Incredible talk! 🔥🔥🔥
There was so much to take and learn from this 😀
I think making sure everything in an image has relevance and purpose is key to creating a powerful image that tells a coherent story.
Eric is the perfect example of this 👌

Hey tectonic refers to an architectural composition that is a clear expression of multiple elements assembled together with each element expressing itself individually. On the contrary stereotonic works refer to the ones that are an exercise of sculpting elements out of a volume

I have always admired U10 drawings! Very interesting to know a bit of the process behind it. Would be amazing to maybe go through how the project develops from start to end, focussing also on the narrative build up and other supporting portfolio pages that explain the storyline... programme, maps, reserach and how this is translated into drawings.

Also if I may ask, which programmes are mostly used to model? Most people will ideally use rhino but i have a feeling that it is not the answer!! Sketchup?

thank you for this amazing workshop, it's incredible to dive into the minds on the design process of these incredible images. I think it would work wonders to have this on 1080p to view all the intricate details of the drawings. I'm curious about the modelling as well but after reviewing the comments i'll be checking out the other video. once again thank you! :)

I’m curious; did he model everything out? Then exported the linework for toning in psd?
I’m assuming this because when he shows us the “sparse” lines it seems highly dense, and I’m not sure if its hand drawn or exported from a model...
