I think Andrew Scott genuinely could play _any_ character - hero, villain, horrible person, romantic lead, you name it. So long as that character happens to be beautiful and with an endearing Irish lilt.
@@stillyetanothersarah Oh, then i’m out. 😉 Im not at all surprised to hear that he also has that range - i haven’t been fortunate enough to see a whole lot of his work, actually. But if i heard a different sound from his mouth, i would definitely be disappointed.
It took me a minute to realize how profound Seth’s statement was: “I expected this beautiful romance and I got that…” It wasn’t so long ago that this sentiment would have been replaced by the same questions and concerns that plagued Brokeback Mountain. What a wonderful comment from Seth.
I have said this before, but it needs to be repeated; Seth is an amazing interviewer. Better than anyone on TV right now. Better than most past late night hosts. He's a pleasure to watch, and seems like a pleasure for his guests too.
Agree. You can always tell that the guest has a great time with Seth, and it's a pleasure to watch. It's because Seth is an excellent improviser and a genuinely nice guy.
I know it may be a long shot but i truly would be happy to see Andrew Scott get an Oscar nomination for his beautiful performance in All of Us Strangers.
I saw All of Us Strangers yesterday. I cannot stop thinking about it. I was so immersed in this masterful work, that whenthe credits rolled at the end , only then did I realize that these 4 glorious actors were the entire cast. Nothing or no one else was needed. Please see this heartbrakingly beautiful film.
@@hnc52 I couldn’t agree with you more. I had to remind myself that I was fortunate enough to watch and enjoy this film regardless of what the award deciding film boards think. Edit: I am certainly biased as an Irishman but to have an Irish protagonist or two even, is not something I take for granted and inspires massive pride in me.
@@DizzyBusy100 hundred percent, the first two seasons they got away with it and then it became apparent how terrible written it was, and i am speaking as a former fan… yikes
I’ve never had to hold back tears harder in the cinema than when seeing this movie. It just hit so close to home with all the different themes. And then Andrew Scott came out for a quick q&a afterwards and he was just so warm and witty
I have come to the conclusion after watching this film last night that the Oscars are just absolutely worthless. I've heard so many stories of members not even bothering to watch a good chunk of the movies and Scott's performance is leaps and bounds ahead of every performer in 2023. Would go as far to say that its one of the most rich, human and beautiful performances of the last decade that will stay with me for a long time.
I saw this movie a day before my fathers 1 year death anniversary and when I tell you, I was gripping my seat for dear life to not full on ugly cry. The entire theater you could near sniffles/contained sobs. This is a movie that will always stay with me and help me process my own emotions when it comes to dealing with loss and love.
Andrew Scott gives one of the BEST performances of Hamlet! If you have a chance, go check out his "To Be" soliloquy. He helped me (and my high school students) understand it like I never had before. Much praise!
What a wonderful actor and a delightful regular person in real time. You must see him in the film”This Beautiful Fantastic”. It is a genuinely sweet film that never fails to charm me. Andrew plays this well grounded man in the middle of a sort of odd situation. Watch it! You will not fail to be charmed.
You won’t regret it! Compare his character is this to his Moriarty in Sherlock just to further reinforce his wide range and talent. Let me know what you think!
Andrew Scott most definitely rocking the Northern Soul look. If you’re not familiar with Norther Soul, you should definitely check out some videos of the dancing…it’s pretty spectacular.
I watched Gods and Monsters on a plane and it's not even that sad but I was in tears. However, reading Rob Delaney's book 'A Heart that Works' on a flight was a huge mistake. I ugly-cried.
All of Us Strangers was awesome...I cried from start to finish and when the lights went back at the theater I had to wear my hat really deep to hide my eyes.
The fact that this glorious man didn't get nominated for the big awards for "All of Us Strangers" - a beautiful, dreamy, surreal, poetic film so eloquently acted with sensitivity and mind bending heft - is so unfortunate. Should have been right up there with Cillian and all. He will one day. Paul Mescale as well. I can't wait to see it.
First movie i seen him in was a small independent irish movie called Korea, he was only a teenager in it, reminded me so much of growing up in a small rural community. Full movie is on youtube.
I'm sorry - there is just something very wrong about this movie. When Ireland's 2 hottest actors find each other, to the exclusion of the rest of "us", AND he gets to hug and crawl into bed with Jamie Bell? Feeling left out! Seriously - a beautiful film well directed and wonderfully acted. I didn't feel left out as it completely drew me in.
Just finished Rewatching His Dark Materials (which is great) and you had Scott and McAvoy this week. We getting Ruth Wilson and Dafne Keen next week or does the coincidence run out lol
i saw manchester by the sea on a flight and remember thinking, this was good but why the hell was this available as an in-flight movie? look forward to this one though
Biggest Oscar snub of the year. This actor is phenomenal.
A movie focused on gay male characters will never get that level of acknowledgement.
Brokeback?@@3506Dodge
Moonlight or Green Book wasn’t focused on this kind of characters?
He just needed to be "of colour" to win everything
@@ta_kotoraya_kris Andrew Scott is openly gay. Hollywood is homophobic they want to give Oscars to straight actors playing gay.
