Hey I have a story it’s not long but I don’t know if you would like the story to be on the am I the jerk
First story: there was an update to the story. Her son didn’t want the house, she did. The son got in contact with OP or their partner I can’t remember. So this isn’t some entitled kid sending their parent, it’s just someone crazy

That’s the vibe I was getting-that the entitled woman wanted her son living in the neighborhood.
That's why Karens/Ken are a worst human being. They often uses excuses, uses other just for themselves, judge by others actions even though they did it themselves, stealing, etc. I wish this world would've been in peace from them.
She wanted her son to live close by. Judging by her attitude, he wants to live nowhere near her
Just because Karen's son grew up in the neighborhood doesn't give you any right to act like people are going to cow down to you.

For the mail story, it's absolutely illegal to take someone else's mail. It can get you a $10k fine and 5 years in prison PER OFFENSE. That postal worker could easily get fired for what they did too. Definitely NTJ.

I also heard my roommates talking about me. I heard them say how they couldn’t stand me and I was annoying. When I shouted down that I could hear them they then yelled at me for eaves dropping and to not listen in to their conversations

The second story kills me like I'm laughing hard. You don't want to go to the wedding cuz it's in Canada. But you want to see OP get married? And to top it off making it diabolical funny cousin gets a DUI and forget to tell everybody until OP and her fiance pay for the whole wedding, which none of the family helped. That's almost like a Jerry Springer moment.
It's like wanting to travel somewhere you like just to end up getting your family to change a country they themselves like, even without explaining their DUI
Did the cousin really get a DUI or is this some BS excuse to convince OP to change their plans to make it more convenient for OP's family.

I have adhd too amoung other things - I constantly feel upset for it feels like my roommate expects me to do too many things at once.
The mail story is insane, I'd be so mad and it's absolutely appalling that the mailman would accept a neighbours word like that.
Dunno about the laws around it specifically, I just know it's illegal to open someone elses mail here. But a few years ago I met the mailman on the way back home. I saw my name and said "oh you can just give them to me since I'm here." They refused and literally made me watch them put them in the mailbox, they then proceeded to watch me take my mail out. I never asked for my mail again and just waited 😂
Seriously selfish people like Karen who try to guilt people into doing things are just scum. I have no time for people like that, I just walk away from them.
I remember back in high school, I won an raffle challenge in school. The prize was a trip to Movieworld. So one of my bullies tried to guilt me into giving her my prize theme park pass to the theme park, saying she had never been before and her parents don’t have time to go, all the while beforehand she would constantly harass me for no reason even to the point of physically assaulting me. Not wanting to put up with her bs, I remember saying to her “that’s really a you problem”
Long story short she stormed off and called me selfish, I went to Movieworld with my friend instead.
One time I was working at Tesco I live in Scotland and I was stacking shelves when a woman came up to me asking where is the frozen food isle i pointed to the area behind her and she screamed I asked what’s wrong mam she said I was sexually harassing her and was touching her inappropriately she asked for my manager so here comes my manager he gets a grin when he hears the story so did I and what I told her was unexpected I said mam I’m gay and the manager is my boyfriend she looked stunned and ended up saying a bunch of offensive slurs and eventually was kicked out this woman literally picked the worst person to try this on 😂😂😂

Years ago billionaire Larry Ellison wanted a specific house in a specific neighborhood, but he hated the neighborhood. So he went to every house and gave them an offer they couldn’t refuse. Wouldn’t surprise me if he added an additional zero to the house value.
If you truly want a specific house you’re going to have to pony up the money.
I could understand if her wedding was like a destination wedding that would cost families thousands or even hundreds to attend. But a 5 hour drive is nothing

Story 2 - Sounds like the OP is trying to use ADHD as an excuse for being a bad roommate. They would drive me nuts, doing garbage like this constantly. They think apologizing should wash away their constant mistakes, but since they do it over and over, no one wants to put up with it anymore.

#2. Not the jerk. A.) There is plenty of consulates of Canada in the US. B.) Most of the time they will help you especially if its a first offense. I know my friend had one and he had to get a permit thats it.
#3. Just tough it out until you leave. Then leave a strongly worded letter on each of their doors about how they are back stabbing people. Then leave all the cabinets opens in the house. I'd do the other things too but thats too far.

For the second story, the family should have paid fully for everything, including the wedding, the spending for the wedding that was canceled and all the cost been paid for so, all the cost for the fiancé's whole family to be able to go for the wedding at america and so on, and do the most generous thing just to do it at America, now most importantly everyone' s agreement, are you even going to do so?

Its actually not that hard to rehab a house so long as the structure is good. The only hard part is following local code and getting the required permits.

You’re absolutely right. The cousin that got the DUI made that choice, to drive when they had alcohol, maybe underage as well. In the US, you have to be 21 and this person is 20. I don’t know if the Canadian or province law is 21 or not. I don’t know if Canada is like the US, but if the aunt and uncle bought the alcohol, they might’ve been fined too, and told that they can’t go to Canada, for supplying alcohol to a person that’s underage.
@@organrick Idk what provine the OP is going to live in, but most provinces/territories in Canada, the drinking age is 19, except Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec, where it is 18. If you are proven to directly provide alcohol to a minor, you can (and generally do) get fined/arrested. Also, the one official person you dont want to mess with in Canada is a border security guard. They dont mess around, so trying to cross if you're barred would be very stupid.
NGL I think being the bad roommate story OP wasn’t an asshole but he isn’t in the clear. His roommates are assholes but their shitty behavior is kind of warranted. I don’t think I can live with someone who is a hazard waiting to happen. Still OP should just wait his time and move out when he can. His attitude should be they don’t wanna see me and he should reflect it with a similar attitude.
