The bolts on the camshaft retainer plate are hard to access on the older model engine. The newer engines have 2 access holes in the cam gear and one can insert a socket to remove the cam retainer bolts.
I'm pumped watching these! I got hooked watching Shopdogsam's series on rebuilding an IHC model M engine, I don't watch tv anymore, RUclips is way better. It's real lol
+UnitCrane514 I haven't watched TV since i was 18. There's nothing worth watching on there. RUclips is a different story though! I'm glad you enjoy this series! I can't wait to do more. Shopdog is a good guy too. i learned how to rebuild a Wico EK with his videos.
do you know if the lifters can be reground and if they are flat tappet? I found rust pits on some of mine and was going to replace the cam. Also wasn't paying attention and mixed the lifters up. Great video!
Don't know how far you are but wengers is who I used and was more than happy with them. Bought my engine kit from them also for what it would cost online.
I’ve got to tear down the 188 diesel in ‘65 530ck. I’m curious about the repair manual I see in your video? I have the parts manual and service manual but neither look like the one you’re using. Can you tell me what it is so I can try to find one? Thanks!
hey great video, my 580b ck is gas engine and i'm trying to figure out if its a 188 or the 159ci because my manual tells me and by observing the distributor its a petrolite which is in the 188ci part of the book, the 159 has auto-lite distributor. but when i look for engine rebuild kit the 188ci is always a diesel could i have a 159ci with a petrolite distributor? sorry but i have no serial numbers on my machine if you could help i would appreciate it thanks. carlos
love these videos, i personally am not "seasoned" so when you explain things i really learn something. many thanks
+McJammy Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy the vids.
The two tubes you were talking about are dowel pins to keep the head lined up when torquing it down. I enjoy the videos thanks!
+coaltrain98 Thanks for the input!
Yes, and on the only motor I've ever had apart that far, a buick 3100, they were removable.

+hammerdwn20 I bought an overhaul kit yesterday from "agkits.com" for $655, and cam bearings for about $35. it was the best price i found online.
+themadmailler I'll have to look but I think It was low 600s. they installed my cam bearings for me.
Not bad. I'm hoping the machine shop can do the cam bearings for not too much money, then i don't have to worry about making another tool.

I believe it's a manual specifically for the engine.

How far did you get on this project? Curious how it turned out
Bought a machine that was all together and running, sold this one!
Eny input on installing the front crank seal

Not sure, but i thought the 188's were only diesel.
What’s the name of that manual?
It's the rebuild manual for a case 188 diesel. I think i bought it on ebay.
themadmailler thank you very much!
oh forgot to tell you, i am on youtube ''case rebuild with model 33 backhoe carlos'' if you want to have a look.
thanks
