So I’m currently studying the Ancient Greek language and I can vouch that Circe was originally written as Κίρκη and is pronounced keer-keh ! But you can blame Latin for eventually insisting we pronounce and write it Circe

@@michaelsommers2356 well technically the eta(η) and omega (ω) were longer to pronounce in ancient greek but because we put emphasis on ι in Κίρκη, I think that's why she pronounced it like that. Ayyyyy yo, I'm Greek, just adding my two cents: it's Keer-kee, emphasis on the first syllable. The letter η is an ee sound, like in "tree". (Note: I read the "k-eh" part of your comment as as an ε, "Am-eh-rica", like Leonie pronounced it, you may have meant it as a short ee sound)

I don't get this 'new' idea that failure isn't failure. Not just the subtle art of not giving a fuck, but self help and productivity gurus, and anyone else, all seem to have recently made a big deal about failure. They just strawman the idea that failure is totally unacceptable.

100% agree with this. I read Mistborn trilogy and liked elements but overall was disappointed and assumed Brandon Sanderson was just over hyped.
The Way of Kings is a much better, more nuanced book than Mistborn and is a more accurate example of his great writing and characters. It's not perfect but it's miles better and I'm excited to read the next books in the series :)

I agree with your points that Stormlight is better in that regard comparing to Misborn, I myself prefer Stormlight. However, based on the types of books Leoni reads on her channel, I'm not sure The Way of Kings is the book that she will for 100% like. Maybe Warbreaker or Skyward would be something more of her taste. But ofc if she decides to read Stormlight I would be happy to hear her review. @@leukemia6175 The ending wasn't terrible but I do agree it seemed to go 1-100 from no where. I've only read Way of Kings but I already like it way better then all 3 Mistborn books. You should definitely give it a go, especially if you're waiting on Rothfuss to finish. As others have already pointed out, Sanderson does a LOT more with characters' psychology/internal feelings in his Stormlight series, so if that is something you really want to see in a fantasy series I'd highly recommend Stormlight Archive. Tangentially related to that: The Wheel of Time also does a lot with characters' internal struggles.

I´ve also got the similar problem about the characters feelings in The Final Empire, but I promise you, it gets better as the series continues and his other books like Stormlight Archive are known and hyped for their psychological/mental health digging. Hello Leonie, I recently discovered your channel and came across this video. Regarding the book Circe [ 11:57 ] , yes the right pronunciation is "Kirkee", that's how it's pronounced in my mother tongue. I guess I got used to it and it doesn't sound that awful to me :P It's not a big deal how you call her but thanks anyway for the annotation :)
Fun fact, "Kirkee" has the same root with "Circus" and "circle". Kirke ruled the circle of life so yeah. In the book the author says that Circe comes from a type of hawk named "Kirkos" but it doesn't make sense as this hawk is flying in a circular line in the air, thus the name. In other words their names have the same root but for different reasons.

Hi ☺️ Is it possible to read War Cross as a stand-alone?
I heard a lot about the book but always thought it was a stand-alone, I don't want to start another series 🙈

With Sorcery of Thorns, I think that's what happens when you had an undefined magic system. She uses magic to get out of literally any situation with no limit or consequences and I think that is one of the biggest reasons it was so dull.

i think in Greek you would actually say „kirki“
in German she‘s called Kirke or Zirze - which both sounds so bad hahah

      (* the i in „kirki“ is meant as a German i not an English i )

I dont understand what's negative about the book being anecdotal. Even though I dont remember much from it, I remember I had a good time reading it BECAUSE it was light hearted.😅
