    This is definitely one of the best Sketcup tutorials I've come across. You did a great job explaining everything. You continued to inform us of the short cuts as you were doing them and even displayed it on the screen. Very nicely done.

    No, it's not one of the best, it IS the best tutorial. Repeating the hotkey every time is great!

    Thanks! I am not very good at following tutorials for sketchup as they always seem to go to fast, I've always walked away from it for years. Best tutorial by a country mile, got it first time, this was brilliant, thank you so so much

    Wow, this is the tutorial I was looking for. Thanks!
    One question: if you’re playing around, how can you modify things on the fly? Changing the height of the building can mess up things quite easily.

    Great video. I’m looking for a CAD app. How does this work for a traditional 2D top down drawing that you want to maintain drawing scale?
    Also, there really a free version? Thanks in advance.

      Yes there’s a free version. Checkout my video on floor plans for examples of top down 2D.

    Great video. I was leaning how to use the Sketchup program but after I got the first wall done I noticed everything looks like an Xray. You can see dotted lines everywhere showing all the dimensions of the studs and all components. I don't know how to get rid of them so I can finish the project. Can you help, or know how to make them go away? Thanks

    Hi, you explained a little about the components but further can you delete components out of the list? And if so how ? Thankyou

    How did you figure the ridge stud height without first calculating the angle / pitch of the roof you wanted ?

    • @CWebbTutorials
      @CWebbTutorials  5 месяцев назад +1

      I already designed this before making this video. But, what I did originally was make the rafters at the desired pitch first, then cut them off where they would meet with the ridge board. Then I filled in the studs underneath the ridge board. That’s what I love about SketchUp, you can figure out the measurements as you go. Hope this made sense and answered your question.

    To make a component, do I have to have the pro plan?

    • @CWebbTutorials
      @CWebbTutorials  2 месяца назад

      No, you can make components in the free version

    Why name the skid component 4x6 when it is only 3.5x5.5?

    • @CWebbTutorials
      @CWebbTutorials  Месяц назад

      Because in the construction industry lumber is called by the nominal dimensions instead of the actual dimensions. For instance, a 2x4 is actually 1.5x3.5.

    • @Pauli_Keltomaki
      @Pauli_Keltomaki Месяц назад

      @@CWebbTutorials OK. Now you are generalizing. In Finland construction lumber is much closer to the actual inch sizes. For example here a 2x4 is actually 48x98 mm or 1.89"x3.86"

    Hello! I love this, but I have one piece of criticism. At 16:26, you can simply have us use the copy-move on the right-side line and move it to the other end of the joist. Not trying to be rude, but you were kind of overexplaining here, in my opinion.
