My first visit to the Yucatan was at the end of Oct first week of Nov 1980. I think there were about 20 people at Chichen Itza. I don't like narrow or dark places. A woman, maybe 80 years old, emerged from the tunnel. I asked, Is it worth going up inside? When she said Yes! I screwed up my courage and stepped into the tunnel. Now, in 2023, I am so glad I did.
This is pure luck on my part. This vacation was the first real one I had ever taken as an adult. I was in my mid 30s and decided it was time to take a real vacation and we went to Cancun (I have since been back at least 15 times). I bought a small VHC-C camcorder and filmed almost the entire vacation including this trip to Chichen Itza. A couple of years ago I went through my old VHS tapes a digitized a few and ran across this, mostly forgotten, footage. I put a couple of clips on RUclips to show friends and family and had almost no views. I think due to the recent controversy of tourists illegally climbing the pyramid the views took off. I have been to a lot of cool places on other vacations but I felt I was missing out on the fun by filming so much and quit taking the camcorder.
@@jeffmyers another reason for the spike in views could be because these ancient constructions are starting to have a renewed interest which is great because it’s so interesting.
There is a reason for this hi!!! My name is alexis kosonovik zaragoza im I am an archaeologist. All these measures were taken for 3 reasons. 1: Today we are working in the area. Another pyramid was found within that pyramid itself. 2: the internal zone is usually placed in a humid environment with the human presence which assists in a greater deterioration at present it is kept ventilated. 3: in this place there are scientific computers for further study due to an event recorded in all the pyramids around the world at the same time we believe that we are about to discover what is the real reason for its construction what until today we know is that function as a type of energy battery that for some reason is capable of storing ionic energy from the same space and in turn is related and connected to the terrestrial magnetic field and this is not all we also find some non-human technological devices in the second pyramide we have not reached them yet, that is why access is not allowed

I was so lucky to have gone when you could still go inside & straight up those stairs 65 I believe to the top to see the Jaguar & Chacmool statue & to the top of El Castillo at Chicken Itza. I have a picture of me taken from the top.
Wonderful. I was able to get inside with no fence on 1997. And touch the 🐆. Filming with the canon es5000 on Hi-8 cassettes. Low light 🕯️ was terrible 🤣

Yup I went in 1989 and climbed it . Was amazing. Even watched a plane take off seemed right out of the jungle. Was a spectacular trip not the food poisoning thougn😢
That Chacmool, you know they built the present temple over a succession of previous temples through their history and you can see the different layers of temples as you go through that tunnel excavated by the Explores. I'll only ever visit there in my dreams because I couldn't take the pressure and stress of it power, it would be too close to the other side having studied the POPOL VUH. 💀
I was able to climb it and go inside back in the 80s. I remember the inside being extremely narrow and slippery (with the steps sloping down - so you had to be extra careful). The outside steps seemed shallow and steep?

@rachelgroth7108 There are multiple structures on the site and the one around that time is not the main pyramid. That said, a lot of the site is reconstructed. The main pyramid has obviously been rebuilt, not sure when but there are metal storm drains on the top, built into structure, you can see them in another one of my videos.

These pyramids are not actually mayan. The mayans were actually ancient Greeks! They lied to you and I can prove it to anyone. I have hundreds of peices of evidence that substantiate my theories. The ancient Greeks used to live in Mexico. This was their homeland. Ancient Athens and ancient Sparta are close by I can tell you where to look. These were the ancient "Myceneaen" Greeks(Mayans).
They were actually Mongolian. The Mayans are the descendants of gengis khan when he joined forces with Nebuchadnezzar and conquered the americas and beat Marcus Aurelius. Learn history first before making such an absurd claim such as saying they’re Greeks
@Lil Js41 No, the Mongolians became Tartarian when merged with Irish aryans. The Tartarians were present in North America, yes. However, they were not the Myceneaen Greeks.
