all of the nail salons I have gone to just "wing it" and it's very difficult to find one that is fluent in english. that bothers me a lot, because what normally happens they discover my thumb they start talking to each other about it, and all of the employees come to check it out. so I usually feel like climbing under the desk.
My thumbs are both clubbed and I can totally relate to this. I can always tell they’re talking about them. I’ve also been asked WAY too many times if I’ve banged them...like really? You think I just had a normal thumb and banged it to look like this? 🤨

I then had to explain that no, they aren’t going to die of they touch it. They then proceeded to embarrass and ashame me by putting on gloves. When my mom and I walked out we both looked at each other and left a bad review
As someone who has clubbed thumbs (and does their own nails) I recommend going with an almond shape. People don’t comment on my thumbs at all anymore. I also don’t paint all the sides all the way, I leave a gap to make them look slightly thinner.
I've had many nail techs ask if I "injured" my thumb. I just show them the other, smile, and say "no, I have a matching set!" Brachydactyly type D is fairly common and we have NOTHING to be embarrassed or ashamed about.

When I was in nail class I had a client like this but she was screaming at me to put tips on several sizes smaller to make her nails appear smaller. She said thats what the chop shop salons did. I told her if I did that they would pop off. She demanded it and then came in during the next week angry that a couple of nails had popped of 😑

I have learned to do my own nails for fear of being given a hard time by salon worker. My issue is I'm right handed and I only have 1 club thumb and it's on my right hand! I struggle to work the nail left handed but I do my best. It's far and few in between that I do my nails and when I do, I can only take them for 3 days before I'm cutting them down. I type for a living. Very hard to type with nails on. You have done an amazing job with this nail.

I have one of these nails and I've stopped getting acrylic nails because that nail ALWAYS starts to raise on the edges and then pops right off. Idk if they just don't use the right size or place it on the nail wrong. And then they always try to size it to my other nail that is "normal" length and it makes my stub nail too long. I have yet to find a nail salon that does it in a way that makes my nail look good

I have such a thumb, and number 0 does not come from side to side either. I'm glad the issue is raised😍. I usually hide the thumb, all the other fingers are long and thin and a gentle hand ... nothing to this day has held on to that thumb. I am interested to know if and how long it lasts ....??

I have thumbs like these and honestly it’s not as wide as it appears. clearly they are wide but they look a lot wider because of how short it is. i think she said that she used a size 0 which isn’t crazy big
The worst part for me is the part where she is filing the ballerina shape part before continuing anything else. They file my natural nail on the sides to the point it’s raw skin where my real nail used to be. It gets infected and because they speak poor English they don’t understand when I try to explain my thumb nail is not the same as a normal thumb nail. And they don’t shape it right. Yours is so perfect I wish

You can buy toe nail tip extensions on eBay or Amazon and customize them to your nails, that’s what I’m using here. Hope this helps 💞
