    I know I love my 996, mostly because its a great car, but for the money I saved compared to all the overpriced air-cooled variants. The "purists" disdain is the 996 owners gain!!! Great job, first 996 video that didn't feel the need to explain the IMS over reaction

    I like the Porsches from the 90's, my alltime favorite is the 928 🤓

    I've owned a lot of cars, and in particular a lot of sports cars, and my 996 Turbo is one of the best. I've owned newer cars, including within the Porsche lineup, but for bang-for-your-buck motoring and pure smiles per miles this is the car to have IMO. I won't be letting this one go I don't think.

      996 Turbo is absurd value for money, possibly even more so than the Carreras. We'd love one in the MOTORHAUS garage!

      Very true, they're fantastic cars that do everything very well and a real occasion every time you go out in it.

    Nicely done 👍 I have a 40 Jahre that's sublime.
    One point, the engineer was Hans Mezger. No "t". 😉

    I have a 05 997 and I really wish I had bought a 996! They just feel more nimble and light!

      As someone on the brink of achieving a life long dream of 911 ownership, the goal was always the 997 but very interested to see your post...

      @@zimkitch thx. Yes initially I was in the 997 just because it fit my budget. But my son talked me into driving a 996 c2 and to me you just felt more connected. It felt smaller and more responsive in some way. After driving it made me reflect on all the negative push it got. I guess the comments were from folks who really hadn’t driven one. If I could do it again I would get the 996 40th anniversary. Great price and has a lot of unique features e specially the motor.

    I used to own a 986 Boxster and enjoyed driving it. Unfortunately, I had to sell it. I want to buy another Porsche, and I want to step up to a 996 911. At first, I wanted to get a Carrera 4 or 4s but decided I'm going to save up and get the Turbo. It can be my year-round budget super car!

    Turbo , GT3 and GT2 engines actually are M96 engines (M96.70) but you're correct, completely different engine base to all the other cars (M96.03)

    Nice video, but you should’ve picked a nicer turbo (horrible front bumper!) and also a nicer 4s. The blue GT2 is 🔥 though

    You skipped the 2004 40th Anniversary 911 that came with the 3.6L X51 motor and ROW M030 suspension.

    • @Motorhaus
      @Motorhaus  2 года назад

      Hey James! We didn't cover the 40th Anniversary, as we felt it was too similar to a facelift Carrera to discuss as a separate model.

      @@Motorhaus How so? Was limited edition --- 1,963 cars. Not to mention, it and with a myriad of aesthetic and performance enhancements, including the vaunted X51 engine package, GT Silver exterior paint, natural grey full-leather interior, limited-slip differential, shot-blasted and polished 18” Carrera II lightweight wheels, turbo front bumper with painted air-inlets, aluminum-trim rings on the instrument cluster and M030 suspension.

    So the metzger engine is air cooled?

    • @Motorhaus
      @Motorhaus  2 года назад +1

      ALL 996s are water cooled. However, the bottom end of 996 Mezger engined cars is shared with the earlier air cooled cars. The crankcases even have a 964 part number!
      That Mezger bottom end is then fitted with water cooled cylinder blocks and heads. It’s a true hybrid of old and new.

    For the money, there is no better Sports Car to be had anywhere today. As always, buy the very best you can - cheap cars are that way for a reason and will drain your resources faster than a Monte Carlo roulette table.
