@@rajsangha911I’ve just bought a lovely 996 40th Anniversary Edition. So pleased with it. A few items being addressed and excited to drive my first 911.
Raj the change in tyre tech is unreal in 5 years let alone 10! Changing those will change the car. I changed from some Pirelli Pzero's from 2007 on my 996 C4S to Michelin PS4s in 2016 and the change literally transformed the car. Hope you're enjoying it!
@@rajsangha911my car also had a decade old tyres and though the car had been stored in a dust free, dry, dark garage, so the tyres were very good, I wasn’t happy with them and insisted on new Michelins all round. I won’t regret it.
The Turbo S should boost to 1.1/1.2, stock. They have larger turbos than the regular 996tt. The BEST way to check is a pressure test (lookup Markski tuning). The rams WILL fail; it’s only a question of time. The ERennkit works perfectly as a replacement. Refresh the suspension and you’ll be quite happy. Turbos don’t really fail commonly on these cars. Just get an upgrade from Markski if that ever happens😊 Just drive the car! Congratulations on an awesome car! I daily drove mine for the first few years until I got more garage space 😊
I bought the cheapest 996 Turbo I could find £30k and did practically everything on the list to refresh it. Turbos, clutch, pipes, coil overs, brakes, lower arms, coffin arms, window regs, tyres, … still more to do including the hydraulic pump for the spoiler. Well over £20k spent but its the car I want and I use it for sprints and hill climbs. Great car. A keeper.
A PPI is such a smart move on a used car and even more so on an expensive one! I got one on my 997 Turbo and not only did it save me a few thousand dollars off the price, it gave me solid piece of mind and I ended up with a great, reliable car. Beautiful 996 Turbo S here. Congratulations!
Great content first time I have watched you but wont be the last 996 turbo made me watch I have had one for 10 years and cant see me changing it, best of luck with yours and the channel.
Do you know what? At the beginning of the year, Parm suggesting a car a month was the best challenge you accepted. I’ve loved every episode, with anticipation for the next. It keeps the channels interesting. Im a Porsche guy and think your channel is awesome, as you know when and which model can take the aftermarket mods. However, I love 90’s hatches too as that’s my era. You’ve got nearly every 40 - 50 year olds dream garage 👌 Still waiting for the red 964 and Escort Cassie update though 😉
Great video at the perfect time for me. Looking to get one in the first half of 2024. Can't get the S, just the standard Turbo for me. Think this is a great daily, that hopefully keeps its value. Looking forward to your future videos on it.
You beat him right up on the price😂 fair play. It definitely needs different wheels and airride and audio. Cool car can't wait to see the progress with it
I guess it’s a sign of the times as the current car sales market is really cooling… dealers need to shift and rotate stock too 🤷🏻♂️. Audio upgrades are imminent 🙌🏽
I have the *almost* same car here in the U.S. Black 2005 996 Turbo S coupe (the Turbo S's were all sold as 2005 models here), manual, roughly 40k miles. Difference of course is that mine has the steering wheel on the left side. Bought the car used in 2007, enjoying it ever since. Kept mine completely stock so far. Looking forward to see what modifications and enhancements you'll do and what the impact will be. I was impressed about the price - if I calculated things correctly then we are talking in the > $60k range, probably significantly >>, not too shabby for a 19 year old vehicle
Thanks for watching and the feedback, plenty of modifications and improvements planned, most importantly the tech and audio will be first! Paid about $65K USD at today's exchange rate
Hi Raj, I think you've got a good deal there.......a lovely example of a turbo S, & a very wise move to get the (relatively minor) works done yourself in a financially suitable time frame. Enjoy!👍👍
I think getting the car cheaper and doing your own work is sensible. Dealers never do what they say there going to do... its had a full service... oil n filter... Tyres are a must , too many people just put the cheapest on and expect top performance from them.
I actually quite like the 996, not surprised this is another porsche, don't blame you to be honest. That 996 Turbo S would be a sick daily driver, once you fix some of the issues, it'll be lit!🔥🔥 Raj the professional haggler 😂
I quite enjoyed that! The length on this video was perfect. NOt too short, and not too long. Q: You didn't comment on the coolant lies - and if they had been done. My understanding is that the coolant lines in the 996 Turbos are glued and over time subject to leaks and disconnects. Were the coolant lines fixed? Perhaps this was addressed and I missed that part...I was eating a rather exceptional chicken burrito while watching.
Glad you enjoyed the episode and your burrito! The car is going in for a service in a couple of months and we'll make sure the coolant lines are checked 👍🏽
Very nice. I have one, those wheels are not an upgrade and are not OEM for the S. The S has special hollow turbo twist that are painted GT silver. But, those are nice oem wheels. I would have asked for a 3-5K discount for that. However, you would never get one for that low price in the US. Cheers.
Really to rare a car that to daily and let the salt kill it or another car crash into you at rush hour- put that away and get a nice 996 turbo with an aero kit to daily with higher mileage.
Still enjoying it, have now used it now as a daily for 13-14 months. Maybe time for a change soon but non the less I have enjoyed every minute and mile of it!

Paul the mechanic, just dropped so much knowledge, love that and great car
Agree, Paul's knowledge and experience is just mega 💯
"Is this the bit where you want to haggle" / "Don't be too harsh" / "Kicking you in the nuts" CAS Gold moments. Great episode, and a fair price too.

0:45 that 996 C4S you are looking at I bought back in July. Brilliant car

The pre facelift lights were a little ugly but these a much better and the rear end still looks mean!
100% agree, the pre-facelift lights are very marmite!
i dont get why so many people back then and still now said, that those headlights are ugly. they are NOT!

Calipers can just be rebuilt, unless bless nipples are stuck/corroded, a very minimal repair. Even if they need a refurb not going to break the bank.
