Me personally, I can do without a new Bioshock game. What I really want is a return to rapture with the graphics we have now, and I want them to combine the all of the first and second games and the books into one game I mean everything, Bioshock 1, 2, the books that cover the creation of Rapture, Minverva's Den. Create like this massive biocshock, that covers everything. I'd love that.
I wish Cloud Chamber would make a social media platform and make a small post where they just inform fans of the Bioshock series that they are still developing the game and that they don’t have anything to show for yet. Something like that is more worth having than a teaser trailer of the game because at least they’re acknowledging that the fans want to know what’s going on with the game.
They tried with Yoahoo groups and MSN meetrooms, they can't anymore with those site sinking into the abyss. However they are right to be cautious about facebook and Twitter as these platforms are blatantly run by poor ai, so their posts could be flagged as malware or anti TOS.
When the Bioshock Infinite demo teaser came out, it claimed all kinds of revolutionary physic mechanics & gameplay. The final product fell well short of expectations. Cloud Chamber probably is still playing with ideas and messing around in the sandbox, to find what works best. Until then, they dont want to release details too early, to avoid overhyping and disappointing fans.
Personally I heard they were planning to make it an open world MMO light. And when those rumors came out the fan base did not take that kindly. And right after that is when they went totally silent. I think it's entirely possible they decided to not make it at all. They thought an online MMO like game filled with microtransactions would not be received well by the fan base and they didn't want to make a regular single player game so I think they just canceled the whole thing and they're just not saying anything.
Two things in my opinion. One, Judas. 2K most probably is waiting for Judas to be released to be able to differentiate from it. Two, investments. The games philosophy does not match the current trends. The market won’t invest to a game that does not follow in some shape or form the current ideologies so they have difficulties with the concept.

We’ve been waiting for a game for 11 years. 28 years of a defined genre and we still don’t have another BioShock. 2k, please reach out and just tell us that you’re still working on it. You should really consider streaming Prey and System Shock. We all understand how frustrating it must be to be creative with bioshock content, everything you can think of doing has been done. Respectfully, you do not want your channel to become quiet and irrelevant, if it ever does come out it'll be smooth sailing from there. I really liked your lore videos, I think your take on Prey/SS lore would be great content. We don't want you to stress keeping it up, something different would be nice.

Maybe it's a hot take on the topic, but, even as a HUUUGE fan os Bioshock, I don't think there's need for a new one. I'd much rather have movie or even a Remake of the first instead. I think the story of all 3 games is well-put together, and I don't see space or need for progressing the story. What else could there be? Scavengers trying to explore the remains of the city underwater? A 'son of Rapture' who escaped having to come back? I dunno, all this sounds kinda weak compared to what we already have.
My theory is this: Judas is actually a BioShock game. Ken has stated that he doesn't want anything to do with the franchise anymore, I know, but his gripe was more working with large teams than BioShock itself. Now, let's think about this. Both Judas and BS4 have been in development hell for more or less the same amount of time. Not only that, but some details in Judas's trailers suggest some BioShock-style themes (namely, Judas having a tattoo on her wrist to mirror Jack and Booker, Judas saying "They say I deserved this. Maybe they're right" as a parallel to Jack's monologue, etc). My guess is that after all the direct twists have happened, and we see whichever ending we earn, the screen will go dark. Then, slowly, the name Judas will appear. BioShock will fade in just above it as the final twist (ie. BioShock: Judas).
Here’s my personal opinion on why bioshock has been taking its sweet time. I think once they scrapped the original idea, they were lost on what to do or where to go causing another significant delay/change of pace, and honestly, I feel 2K is trying to push something they don’t wanna do at this point. I really believe we won’t get this new bioshock until 2026, or early 2027 and no info until after 2025. My only hope for some kinda reveal this year is the game awards, but I have LOW LOW hopes for that. after that disaster of restarting, I’m hoping they’ve found a pile of gold they’ve been polishing over the last 3-4 years. I don’t care if it comes out 2029, JUST MAKE IT GOOD PLEASE 2K

Really I just find myself going back for repeat playthroughs of Infinite while struggling to adapt to BioShock 1 (I can't quite gel with its gameplay). Late to the party I guess. More than anything I'm just curious where a new BioShock could be set, maybe an underground kingdom.
Im worried it’s in development hell. Or hopefully they are holding off to build hype for Judas. Or even crazier, perhaps Judas is secretly Bioshock 4 and Ken Levine is waiting for us to play Judas to find out it’s Bioshock (kinda like PT was for Silent Hills)
It's very likely that the big screen deal is holding things up. Think about how the Fallout TV show affects what will happen in Fallout 5 (unless they set F5 in the past). The same could very well be true of the Bioshock movie. Sure, previous drafts gave us a (rather terrible) remake of Bioshock 1, but who's to say the movie won't end up being something fresh? The franchise already happens in an interconnected multiverse, so the movie COULD provide us with an alternate version of Bioshock 1, or it could give us something welcome and unexpected, such as a telling of the fall of Rapture. But let's say the movie expands on the multiverse. It could drop hints at the Bioshock 4 setting or in some way tie into it. Perhaps even more important, the movie could give some important data on what people would want or not want in the next game when the ratings and reviews start dropping. There's a lot of things like core coding the studio could be doing using some basic models, and they could be working on assets that would be suitable for any Bioshock location without committing to an actual setting or storyline. After all, Infinite was an excellent game, but between paring it down due to constraints and people being disappointed in the multiverse reveal and DLCs, the series took a huge hit. I wouldn't blame the new studio for being cautious and waiting for SEM (Someone Else's Money) to show them how to best invest their own. As for what to play or review, there are quite a few games out there with mods inspired by Bioshock that would be worth exploring. Fallout 4 was supposed to have an underwater vault inspired by Rapture that was later cut, but a lot of information about it still exists. It could be fun to do a comparison dive (no pun intended) to theorise just how similar the vault quest would've been to Bioshock. F4 also has several mods directly related to Bioshock, including buildable objects, a Big Daddy-inspired diving suit, and even a Rapture-inspired underwater city. Fallout: New Vegas and Skyrim also have Bioshock-related mods. While I try to ignore Minecraft, I seem to recall someone even made a Bioshock mod for that.
All i want is an updated confirmation saying "It hasn't been shelved. It's still happening. Don't worry." that's it. that's all we need. When fans beg for updates, we mainly just want to calm our fears that a project hasn't been abandoned as happens so often. How many times have we heard that things were in the works for something and then they ghost us and fast forward like 10 years and nothing ever came of it.
Honestly I don’t think it’s gunna happen. I feel like they silently canceled it and won’t say anything. Which begs the question why would they do that since the franchise is loved and profitable. But they did the same thing to Dead space 4 and that franchise aside from 3 not being well received is loved and profitable. Sure we got Dead Space remake which sold well and everyone loved it. However they are not going through with Dead space 2 remake? Why? Same reason they won’t do Bioshock 4. It’s not live service game (which is the craze now) and it’s not a new I.P. Its most likely been shelved.....or if we are lucky ..rebooted yet again...but there is absolutely no reason they wouldn't remain THIS silent unless something is wrong ..So while i cant tell you it has been entirely shelved...i can say with certainty.....something went wrong in the development cycle....and Realistically? Probably? It is shelved...the good news is this franchise is legendary enough that in another 5-10 years they or somebody else will most likely pick it up again. I'm afraid they just quietly stopped it. I think it would be better this way before it turns into complete nonsense. It can't be a good idea to let such a young development studio get hold of something like this. Presumably 2K has now realized this too.
I didn't like the Burial at Sea DLC I felt, Bioshock 1 and 2 got good stories. I thought Bioshock Infinite should be an alternative timeline They are way better stories than DLC
I first played through bioshock back in 2017 ish, then that summer my parents divorced, so naturally bioshock became kind of my get away (Ik it sounds super sappy) nevertheless I fell in love with the series, it was truly better than anything I’d ever played before. After a few years I wondered if there would be a sequel to infinite. Junior year filled me with excitement thinking I would graduate the next year and be able to play a new bio shock with the boys but sadly, 2 years later I’m still waiting 😔
I’m thinking that they probably went through some issues in the early development cycles and have had to essentially restart development from scratch a few times. But, 2K has not forgotten. They’re still dropping hints that a new Bioshock does exist. We just gotta hold out gamers. Rejoice, for delays have no sting.
it seems pretty common in situations like this (imo) is i can see BS4, is probably going through some developmental hell. Which i cant complain. AAA titles have countiued to just be terrible and i don’t have good faith in BS4 due to the current climate i’ll let them take their time to hopefully get another amazing piece of media that really gets you sucked into the world and atmosphere with twists and turns than some BS4 slop i just wish they would say something, tell me it’s not gonna happen anymore or that you’ve had to restart 10,20,30 times. just something
Personally, I’m more looking forward to Judas than anything; that’s basically a BioShock game in all but name. We don’t know what’s going on with BioShock 4’s development or if the game will even see the light of day but we know for sure that Judas is coming in the near future. Guess I’m saying that’s it’s better to focus on the present than ponder about an uncertain future but that’s just my thoughts on the matter. Please don’t take that the wrong way.
In BioShock 1, we see several pictures of Jack with his family, which are reminded of him in the form of his memories. I wanted to know if Jack's parents are not Andrew Ryan and Jasmine? Wasn't Jasmine dead? And didn't Ryan say that he would never return to the surface? So how come both Ryan and Jasmine are in the picture?
it's clearly the same old problem: $$$ needed for development. it always is in the game dev world. too bad Bill Master Gates doesn't put his bucks into game development instead of pharma.
I feel with BioShock 4 there's nothing to it but having patience. For the franchise we know there have been a lot of fascinating game mechanics that we didn't see happen, especially with BioShock infinite. For something like BioShock on the latest game consoles we may get a chance to see those mechanics fully realized or close enough. Not to mention the writing must be hellish for it cause what can they do to top the previous entries?? I recently watched your BioShock iceberg and how a return of elanor would be a neat idea which it is but that's gonna be a challenge to have that expanded and fleshed out for a full game.

I really think that sadly the ip is owned by people who cant manage to make any good choices and everything is in development hell. I really think that Judas is just gonna be the best thing to look forward too. Part of the reason i love bioshock though is the fact that infinite really finished the trilogy perfectly. As a die hard halo fan i wish the last game made was 4 or reach. 343 has mismanaged the IP so much and now alot of fans hate what halo is now. Sure I will play it and enjoy it, but do the devs not realize they are killing these franchises by prolonging the development so much? Hi Erik. Please also look into Singularity (2010). Its a lesser known Bioshock-like game. Its linear, the story is really good and not too long, and it fits the vibe perfectly. Maybe you'd also like playing it

For someone getting more into programming i remember i saw that just maybe a year ago i was seeing cloud chamber searching for Senior workers for design, models etc. I really don't know what stage they were in at all back in 2019 but they are stilling posting ads and are searching for writers even so this must be a really slow process
I do feel like they announced bioshock 4 being under work a bit early. I understand that working on the next bioshock game will be hard and time taking since they got to make it better than the last other games in quality and size. I can't help but agree, it is getting a little frustrating not hearing anything after 5 years , i javent heard anything about it being cancelled so maybe they're just waiting on some talent to be finished with whatever else they may be working on. Or possibly they're waiting for the movie to be completed so they can tie into each other. But honestly who knows . They've been secretive about it from pretty much the get go , so i guess we'll just have to wait and see .

I'm not really surprised that BS4 is on the backburner again (it feels like). I don't think they really have anything to showcase, so they chose not to say anything and hope people wouldn't notice. But we did. And you're absolutely right about Judas coming out before BS4; they seem to be much farther ahead in development for it not to. They'll wait and see how it does, and then maybe tweak or rethink BS4 depending on how well Judas is received. I think System Shock 1 and 2 would be great additions to the channel. Prey is AMAZING.
If you’re a fan of Bioshock you owe it to yourself to play it and it’s DLC. Absolutely superb.
All i want is an updated confirmation saying "It hasn't been shelved. It's still happening. Don't worry." that's it. that's all we need. When fans beg for updates, we mainly just want to calm our fears that a project hasn't been abandoned as happens so often. How many times have we heard that things were in the works for something and then they ghost us and fast forward like 10 years and nothing ever came of it.
Honestly I don’t think it’s gunna happen. I feel like they silently canceled it and won’t say anything. Which begs the question why would they do that since the franchise is loved and profitable. But they did the same thing to Dead space 4 and that franchise aside from 3 not being well received is loved and profitable. Sure we got Dead Space remake which sold well and everyone loved it. However they are not going through with Dead space 2 remake? Why? Same reason they won’t do Bioshock 4. It’s not live service game (which is the craze now) and it’s not a new I.P. Which developers rather take a chance on new I.P then continue old ones. It’s just my thought but infinite came out in 2010…ya we ain’t get Bioshock 4
I don't think it will come out next year. Unless borderlands 4 comes out by the end of the year or early 2025 it probably won't
Its most likely been shelved.....or if we are lucky ..rebooted yet again...but there is absolutely no reason they wouldn't remain THIS silent unless something is wrong ..So while i cant tell you it has been entirely shelved...i can say with certainty.....something went wrong in the development cycle....and Realistically? Probably? It is shelved...the good news is this franchise is legendary enough that in another 5-10 years they or somebody else will most likely pick it up again. The game industry stinks these days ..😢

I'm afraid they just quietly stopped it. I think it would be better this way before it turns into complete nonsense. It can't be a good idea to let such a young development studio get hold of something like this. Presumably 2K has now realized this too.

I felt, Bioshock 1 and 2 got good stories.
I thought Bioshock Infinite should be an alternative timeline
They are way better stories than DLC
I first played through bioshock back in 2017 ish, then that summer my parents divorced, so naturally bioshock became kind of my get away (Ik it sounds super sappy) nevertheless I fell in love with the series, it was truly better than anything I’d ever played before. After a few years I wondered if there would be a sequel to infinite. Junior year filled me with excitement thinking I would graduate the next year and be able to play a new bio shock with the boys but sadly, 2 years later I’m still waiting 😔
I’m thinking that they probably went through some issues in the early development cycles and have had to essentially restart development from scratch a few times. But, 2K has not forgotten. They’re still dropping hints that a new Bioshock does exist. We just gotta hold out gamers. Rejoice, for delays have no sting.

it seems pretty common in situations like this (imo) is i can see BS4, is probably going through some developmental hell. Which i cant complain. AAA titles have countiued to just be terrible and i don’t have good faith in BS4 due to the current climate
i’ll let them take their time to hopefully get another amazing piece of media that really gets you sucked into the world and atmosphere with twists and turns than some BS4 slop

Personally, I’m more looking forward to Judas than anything; that’s basically a BioShock game in all but name. We don’t know what’s going on with BioShock 4’s development or if the game will even see the light of day but we know for sure that Judas is coming in the near future. Guess I’m saying that’s it’s better to focus on the present than ponder about an uncertain future but that’s just my thoughts on the matter. Please don’t take that the wrong way.
In BioShock 1, we see several pictures of Jack with his family, which are reminded of him in the form of his memories. I wanted to know if Jack's parents are not Andrew Ryan and Jasmine? Wasn't Jasmine dead? And didn't Ryan say that he would never return to the surface? So how come both Ryan and Jasmine are in the picture?
it's clearly the same old problem: $$$ needed for development. it always is in the game dev world. too bad Bill Master Gates doesn't put his bucks into game development instead of pharma.
They could easily make a game around how the twins were manipulating Elizabeth this whole time.
I feel with BioShock 4 there's nothing to it but having patience. For the franchise we know there have been a lot of fascinating game mechanics that we didn't see happen, especially with BioShock infinite. For something like BioShock on the latest game consoles we may get a chance to see those mechanics fully realized or close enough. Not to mention the writing must be hellish for it cause what can they do to top the previous entries?? I recently watched your BioShock iceberg and how a return of elanor would be a neat idea which it is but that's gonna be a challenge to have that expanded and fleshed out for a full game.
Maybe the next one should be underground and circus themed, the portal being in an abandoned circus/carnival grounds.

Hey man, would you be down to be on my little interview series and we could talk about bioshock? My service dog that i trained is actually named elizabeth after the game. I really think that sadly the ip is owned by people who cant manage to make any good choices and everything is in development hell. I really think that Judas is just gonna be the best thing to look forward too. Part of the reason i love bioshock though is the fact that infinite really finished the trilogy perfectly. As a die hard halo fan i wish the last game made was 4 or reach. 343 has mismanaged the IP so much and now alot of fans hate what halo is now. Id hate to see bioshock fall under that too if they made another game and tried to "make it for a wider audience" or some bs

It’s my favorite franchise, but I am growing tired of all the sudden big news, where it seems like the game could be coming very soon and then silence for a year after that.
Sure I will play it and enjoy it, but do the devs not realize they are killing these franchises by prolonging the development so much? I know got things take time, but for God’s sake, no game requires 10+ years... Nobody deserves to be killing themselves over a game. It just seems absurd even if they take a small hiatus.
On a more positive note, I hope you are doing well! A System Shock stream would be amazing! Or even Fallout! I wouldn’t mind to see more videos from you, if time allows, even if it is not strickly Bioshock related.

Hi Erik. Please also look into Singularity (2010). Its a lesser known Bioshock-like game. Its linear, the story is really good and not too long, and it fits the vibe perfectly. Maybe you'd also like playing it

For someone getting more into programming i remember i saw that just maybe a year ago i was seeing cloud chamber searching for Senior workers for design, models etc. I really don't know what stage they were in at all back in 2019 but they are stilling posting ads and are searching for writers even so this must be a really slow process
I do feel like they announced bioshock 4 being under work a bit early. I understand that working on the next bioshock game will be hard and time taking since they got to make it better than the last other games in quality and size. I still remember someone asking on bioshock infinites this year anniversary day 2K that is the next bioshock game still in works, 2K answering with a simple "cooking". They truly giving us hope🔥

At this point I'd prefer we leave the Bioshock franchise alone and just make a new game that scratches the same it that Bioshock did.
I'm not really surprised that BS4 is on the backburner again (it feels like). I don't think they really have anything to showcase, so they chose not to say anything and hope people wouldn't notice. But we did. And you're absolutely right about Judas coming out before BS4; they seem to be much farther ahead in development for it not to. They'll wait and see how it does, and then maybe tweak or rethink BS4 depending on how well Judas is received. I think System Shock 1 and 2 would be great additions to the channel. Glad you're doing ok and can't wait to see what you're working on! Hope the fam is ok too!
