I don't think any other company would've done a better job on Red Velvet than SM. All the members have unique distinct voices that somehow harmonize really well, on top everyone having great musicality. They may have K-pop's current best visual member, but their true strength as a group lies within their music. I really think SM wanted Red Velvet to last for a long time just looking at how much effort they put into making the discography, concepts and group image as timeless as possible
Of course, SM groups tend to have long career in entertainment industry because of how they build their music or other entertainment ability that ensure they have solo members brand name and career too. I personally feel SM put RV music for not just temporary hit, but also for musical artistry that appeal for music critic ears and other musician. They are the current holder of the best dischography for girlgroups in kpop.
It's actually crazy, hearing them in something like their cover of Boa's Milky Way where all 5 harmonize, you can easily dissect the harmony and point out all 5 of their voices. Yeri's, Joy's, and Wendy's stand out, then if you try hard enough, you can separate Seulgi and Irene's chic voices apart too
Other SM artists release recording sessions of their songs like NCT and Shinee. So I hope when Red Velvet comebacks they can release it too. I miss them so much! Let's support Wendy's solo!

I don't know much about the technical parts of music, but I know I love that part. Mosquito is definitely a top 5 RV song for me. Vocally, Butterflies really amazes me too. Those two songs are so different, but they master them. Well that's everything they do so...
